As a Derby fan, looking back at our 2007/08 season was very painful to witness, heck, there's been many dark days for us as Rams fans throughout the years, especially our 21 points deduction a few years ago, though now we're doing much better than we were the last few years, and here's hoping our future is more bright than ever now that we're back in the Championship. I guess it's a record we still hold in the Prem, just not exactly the one you want. Who knows, we might get back to the Prem in the way future, only to break our own record again, lol. Derby fan here - the club actually recovered from the 07/08 season after five years of being run very sensibly which culminated in our best Derby team of the past 20 years losing the 13/14 playoff final. Losing that game is what haunts the club, Mel Morris (the owner who put us into admin) had a deal to buy the club before that final that would have been a bargain if we went up - effectively he gambled we’d win. He spent years recklessly throwing money around after that loss trying to chase the promotion he thought was already in the bag and then gave up after COVID.

Great vid!. It’s a shame they never got promoted in the 13/14 season as that was the most balanced and Premiership ready squad. McLaren inherited Clough’s squad and managed to not only get them to gel but also play highly attractive football. Any other season and they would have gone up automatically given they finished on 85 points in third place. So many great up and coming players in that squad too with a young Will Hughes, Jeff Hendrick and experienced Bryson running the midfield with a 20 goal + Chris Martin up top. I honestly think they haven’t had a squad come close to that in terms of balance since that (even despite further play off campaigns)

They've had a similar story in terms of misfortune and mismanagement which led to them nearly going into liquidation before being bought out last year by a local businessman who has helped them get promotion back into the National League. For me, the 2013 League One Playoff Final is the epitome of how much can change in English football within the span of ten years. I always feel like these stories need to be told to avoid what can happen in future. It's something of a video that I hope you consider making, akin to that video you made on Scunthorpe for example. Everyone around the town would strongly appreciate the exposure should you decide to pursue a video on Yeovil Town.

If you go back and look at the squad that came up it was a bunch of players off the scrap heap that could drag 1-0 wins out every week and if it weren’t for us signing 5-6 in that January also probably would have won the champ instead of the playoffs. Another big issue we had was recruitment, David nugent and Kenwyne jones chose to go to Portsmouth and Sunderland and then left us scrapping around for earnshaw and miller & Claude Davies is quite possibly the worst player to ever play for the club

Even if Sheffield United conceded more goals than Derby, Derby's win ratio in Premier League and points tallied will never be broken. Derby has one win, 8 draws and 29 defeats meaning 11 points out of 114 points available. While we did witness other clubs like Sheffield United having more defeats than Derby. There are some records that Derby set that can never be matched nor broken and they are for all the wrong reasons. Least points gained, least goals scored, the largest gap between relegation and safety, worst goal difference and the worst away record in a single league campaign in Premier League history. If Derby does return to the Premier League in the future then they will have to redeem themselves big time.
