You're right. This album is a masterpiece. And NRM is a great track, one of my faves on the album. And it includes Donna De Lory and Nikki Harris as background vocalists. I would pair the ROL album with "Like a prayer" and "Confessions on a dance floor" (and "True blue" ;-)) as my absolute favorites.

Ray of Light is also considered as the best pop album ever created. The production is ahead of its time (William Orbit, a music genius), Madonna had just had her voice trained due to Evita and critics consider this album helped introduce electronic music into mainstream culture; then other artists started to used it. 🙌👑

As I recall back then, Madonna's 1st vocal coaching session was for her hit Sooner or later, then 1998 she took her 2nd vocal coaching session for her role as Evita Peron. Short after she produced Ray of light with her biggest vocal rejuvenation, screaming in her Ray of Light with never before heard voice, strong and full bodied. She even hit B flat 5, her highest ever note...

There's a couple of ultra cool remixes for this song like Club69 Radio Edit plus the long versions, Kruder & Dorfmeister remix, Dan-O-Rama....They played all that in the clubs back then 90s!!! I want to go back! Nothing really matters

Yes!!! Costumes are by gaultier inspired by memoirs of a geisha. Her character in this video is inspired by Hatsumomo ❤ and the dance moves are inspired by the Japanese artistic dance “butoh”

The video is inspired by the novel Memoirs of a Geisha, it is believed that she was looking for the leading role in the movie. This look in Madonna is iconic, she performed this at the Grammys in 1999. Despite her vocal training in Evita she didn't manage to show great live vocals in the Ray Of Light era (except for the Oprah Show performance), though her range was wider and her studio vocals were impeccable.

Also, Masahiro Ito - monster design and art director of a "Silent Hill 2" game took an inspiration from this music video. He said it himself that "Nothing Really Matters" music and video influenced the haunting atmosphere of the game. The dingy psychiatric hospital in the music video looks very similar to the one in Silent Hill 2, and the unsettling movements of the patients are reminiscent of how the monsters behave in the game. To me as Madonna fan and a gaymer it's just very special. My two fav worlds collided in each other art.
