ABBA are unapologetically ABBA and they’ve stayed true to their sound. They’ve shown such maturity in very profound lyrics. This fits in seamlessly with the other albums. It’s a very “intellectual” album. They tackled unusual themes. I think it’ll grow on those who are unsure. They took a gamble and hit the jackpot. I’m happy. Very happy!

I have followed ABBA since before they got famous all over the world. I have so many wonderful memories of their music. I danced to Dancing Queen in a kibbuz near Tel Aviv, I cried when I myself sang “Fernando” in Los Angeles, I played “The Winner Takes It All”, when I was left by a boyfriend, etc. etc. Their music always helps my soul, my psyche. It is like ointment for my nerves. I remember seeing the couples in Stockholm many times. When they went to the grocery store, to the cinema and so on. So down to earth, so "normal", so humble, so gentle. The success has not changed them. It is incredible, if you think about it. Still humble and down to earth. I have seen the young generation embrace them just like I did in the in the mid-1970s. So glad and grateful for the younger generation that is discovering ABBA! So many people, old as young, get very emotional when hearing their music and lyrics and Agneta and Annifrid`s unique voices and ability to convey the message. Björn, Benny, Agnetha and Annifrid touches our hearts. I think, that if it is something we humans need today, is it to awaken our real, deep emotions again. It is our emotions that make us human. Their music and lyrics bring us joy and happiness, an uplifted state. At the same time, they make us come into contact with our deep wounds so that we can heal them. And with our melancholy. I think that we cannot feel a real joy if we do not have contact with our opposite feelings; ABBA knows that like a tree trunk that we erode with our sorrow and pain, as big a hole that has become, just as much joy we can hold. It is like their music has a healing impact on our (today) so weary souls. No other group that I am aware of can touch our feelings as they do. Many says: “Oh, their music makes me cry, or their music really touch my heart”. I have also heard: “Just when the world needed them most ABBA returns”. I find almost all of ABBA`s songs/lyrics are personal. Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Annifrid are all humble, nice, honest and decent human beings; down to earth people. They are just like anybody else, with all of their flaws, traumas, embarrassments, difficulties etc. They know that, and they do not put themselves over anybody else. In addition, they are even generous with sharing those painful experiences with us, so that we have the opportunity to feel our own pain - and heal it. They also share their joy and happiness with us; all their precious feelings. That is why their music touches all of us, young as old and everyone in between. That makes their music so GREAT, and SPECIAL. I think. What do you think? In addition, all about ABBA is natural. They could easily have artificially “fixed” the ladies’ “older” voices and other things, but they refrained from doing so. Their music it is genuine right through. As far as I know, no other band is doing the same today; the temptation is too big to fix almost everything to perfection. ABBAs music is therefore REAL MUSIC. Today it is unusual, which makes them so BIG! What I also hear many young people of today say is: “Wow, this is nothing like the “music” made today. ABBA is really making MUSIC”. Their music and the “modern” music cannot even be compared, that is my opinion. What is yours? Thank you, ABBA: you make me so proud of being Swedish!

Benny's awesome keyboards, Frida and Agnetha's voices strong individually and still the magic of their combined third voice, and of course Bjorn's provocative lyrics. Thank you ABBA !

All of us who have been divorced know what it's like to leave that little kid and seeing how absorbed that little kid is with the other parent. And he waves, or she, and you stand there and you feel, 'Argh.' I find it interesting to explore things that happen in relationships that haven't been explored before. I don't think that this has." 🧡 ABBA ! "I Can Be That Woman" - Sad, misplaced guilt. "Keep An Eye On Dan" - Breakup ties. (Instrumentals hint back to the great danceable 70s disco.) "Bumblebee" - Sweet. A reminder of our global climate threat. "No Doubt About It" - Get to the dance floor again. "Ode to Freedom" - Waltz, slow and graceful. Want to dance? We don't slow dance enough anymore. This is a reminder of what could have been if ABBA had carried on without the 40-year pause. Pure ABBA - creative genius stamped on this album as with all their others. Come on, ABBA. The magic is all here. The dream is still alive. I'm ready for another album. Thank you, Dereck. Very high marks, overall, for this album. Agreed. What a joy for this unique two-part full album reaction. And, YES, to vinyl ! - the only way to listen to music. Believe in Yourself. Be You.

I think Side B is slightly stronger than Side A! I Can Be That Woman: What I love most about this song is that Agnetha's vocal is delivered with such honesty and conviction that it makes me concentrate on the lyrics and follow the story to the end where it continues Abba's theme of failing relationships and regrets with this time also exploring the effect on their dog. Production and instrumentation is so beautiful and lush and this along with "Don't Shut Me Down" are Agnetha's best vocal performances on the album. Parts of the song too remind me of "Listen To You Heart" by Roxette with a hint of Carpenters in there too. 8.5/10 Keep An Eye On Dan - Woweeeee!!! The very best of the 7 new tracks, Benny's synths SLAY and it definitely harks back to The Visitors album and the end of his synth instrumental part reminds me a bit of Kim Wilde's "Cambodia" so it does take me back to 1981/82. The verses too are so dramatic and atmospheric before getting into that amazing chorus and I love how the girls' & guys' vocals get mixed towards and Benny playing a bit of SOS at the end turned me into a RABBLE!!! Bumblebee - I have to admit that this one passed me by at first but is growing on me more and more with every listen. I think this one is Frida's best vocal on the album and the instrumentation is soooooo beautiful. Just like "Andante Andante" I think this one will shine and shine more as the years go by. And I like too the nod to the present in the lyrics with the climate change emergency. A grower not a shower this one! 8.5/10. No Doubt About It - Wow at how instantly catchy this is!!! Abba have taken the ingredients off the shelf for "Dancing Queen" for this one by kicking off with the chorus before calming down for the verses and building up to and exploding back into the chorus again. Frida's performance is beyond amazing with her being in her mid 70's. 9.5/10. Ode To Freedom - I had to get the tissues out for this one! This one is definitely a case of when Abba meets Chess and I think we would've had tracks like this if Abba had stayed together during the 80s and 90s with a hint of it being on The Visitors with "I Let The Music Speak". The instrumentation is so moody and foreboding yet stunningly beautiful. I like to think that it was the last song that they recorded for the album, such a fitting finale and an amazing way to close the book on 49 years of Abba. 9.5/10 So far I have the CD with the regular cover with the CD with the Abbatars cover, the green vinyl and the eco box set on their way in the post. The blue vinyl and the cassette I ordered appear to be delayed. The Dolby Atmos mix sounds amazing as well with the main and backing vocals coming through more clearer and instruments like the flute, synths and strings being more noticeable. Bernard Lohr did a fantastic job and I hope the previous albums and compilations get released in Dolby Atmos soon too.

They did a Christmas song "Little Things" (sure to be a standard going forward), "I can be that woman" is a country song from the vocals to the story telling, "Bumblebee" is an environmental song it talks about how the amazing bumblebee is disappearing it is not as over the top as the lovely The Promise (Dolphin Song) written and performed by Olivia Newton John [Dereck react to the video you'll be surprised]. The keyboard at the end of "Keep an Eye on Dan" is absolutely the sign-off of "SOS...it made me think, "Where are those happy days, they seem so hard to find..?", which is exactly what the song is about. "No Doubt About it" I feel needed just a small extra push to be an absolutely huge track...the synth work, if you listen to the backing track, is so intricate...I think it needed another verse and bridge: it deserved another minute of that tight lyric contrasting with the depth of the synthesisers, IMO

I loved your reaction on "Keep An Eye On Dan", I felt the exact same way, i was overjoyed, enthousiastic and ecstatic. It is so "The Visitors" and what came after you're right. Electronic like the latest Abba songs like "Lay All Your Love On Me" or "The Day Before You Came" but more uplifting. I don't know why people don't see it as great as we see it. For me it's a sure fire hit, worthy of their greatest anthem songs like "Gimme ! Gimme ! Gimme (A Man After Midnight). If we still were in the 80's it would have been a hit. But these days, not so sure and I think it's sad. But there's a lot of good songs on this album, it's not the only one, it's true but it's a stand out, definitely.

" I can be that Woman " what a masterpiece , the lyric are very true and realistic.. some people critic it or rate it low from their other songs saying "they could have doen it better blah blah?? because they can't accept the fact that it happened or they are the one being portrayed in this song and their pride don't accept it.. maybe my neighbor who grew up from a broken family can justify it.. what song!

No Doubt About It is lead by Frida. She also did Bumblebee, Little Things and I Still Have Faith. Agnetha is lead on Don’t Shut Me Down, Just a Notion, I Could Be That Woman and Keep an Eye on Dan. The third voice is really only full on used on When You Danced With Me and Ode to Freedom features everyone.

That part of “I can be that woman” that reminds you of another song - It’s like “Listen to your heart”, by Roxett. The rest of it sounds like Dolly Parton! It’s pure gold!

“Keep an eye on Dan” has elements from “I’m a marionette” from the album Arrival. And yes the end part of this song is from S.O.S.

👏👏👏 THANK YOU FOR THE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC --- AGNETHA FÄLTSKOG BJÖRN ULVEUS BENNY ANDERSSON ANNI- FRIDA LYNGSTAD 💯 🅰️🅱️🅱️🅰️ 🎼🎵🎶 🥰‼️

You are probably one of the coolest Abba fans I ‘know’. Really appreciate it. Just a few comments. I am waiting for my vinyl too! Love Faith, When I Danced, Don’t Shut Me Down, Notion, I Can Be, Bumblebee, No Doubt, and Ode. Just about all of them I guess. Dan is ok, there is something about the lyrics that didn’t hit me as a jam song. I have to say Ode blew me away when I watched the lyric video. Its first pass sounded nice, but I missed the details of the message. When I watched the lyrics, I had to stop it and go back to really look at the structure, vocabulary. Amazing. They covered relationship reunions, child custody, global warming, world peace, domestic strife, and more. Very unexpected. I Can Be That Woman reminds me of a song that would be on an Agnetha solo album. I have listed to several interviews with Benny and Bjorn, and it feels like there were some deals made to do this project. I wonder if Agnetha wanted a ballad like this to be included. I would like to have had more backing vocals throughout it to make it more of an Abba produced song. But still great. I actually really like When You Danced with Me. It’s kind of a go to jam on this album for me right now. No Doubt About It. Need any of us say more? I know they say it’s over but, what is with the “This isn’t where it ends”?

hey D thank you for the full album reaction. Up until I started watching your videos and reaction, I had only listened to 1,3,4,5,7 tracks only. I was going to savor the rest for a special time. I then remembered you're going to react to the full album today! I decided to listen to the rest of the album (for the first time) with you. I have mentioned before of my being a hard core ABBA fan. We have common reactions to different items presented here. I had only listened to Little Things once just earlier today and I was kinda on the fence. However listening to it again I fell in love with it. I think it will be a great song to add to the Christmas cannon. I also have to remember when I first heard some of the other ABBA songs in the past, I had to give it time, let it breath and in the end I fell in love with that song one way or another. I have read in other reviews, ABBA songs can be like a fine wine, they get better with age. I am sure after listening to these tracks, in time, will age and become classics.

Voyage is an album of 4 mid 70s individuals reflecting on life. If you listen Ode to Freedom and look at the Album artwork is a farewell song. Getting ready to travel to the other side. Bumblebee seems simple but is not. love this album.

Your definitely the expert when it comes to the analysis of ABBA songs and I agree with your scoring for each of the songs. I do like Ode to Freedom as the closing song. It’s very reminiscent of ABBA instrumentals that were on the albums ABBA and Arrival. A very fitting end. I’m interested in your remark about the tweeting of the vocals and specifically which songs as of course ABBA were known for the tweaking of vocals by Michael Tretow by altering the speed. I do agree that Frida does come through quite strong on tracks where both of them are singing.
