"La vie ne m'apprend rien" (Life teaches me nothing). This lyrics could be interpreted as a bragging from anyone else. But coming from Daniel Balavoine, it's an evidence. This man was so committed, it was like if he knew since his birth that his life would be short and that he have so little time to undertake all the missions he had set for himself. He showed such determination, such dedication. He always seemed to shake other people up, like, "Hey smash your cigarette, you'll smoke later, we've got a world to save!" I can imagine him pronouncing this somewhat surreal style of phrase to one of his singing buddies. That was Daniel Balavoine. This song is, I think, the one that portrays him the best ...Oui, c'est toi qui nous a appris Daniel, appris à être des hommes. (Yes, it was you who taught us Daniel, taught us to be men, true human beings). Merci.

A unique voice. I always loved it from the day I heard it. I think it was impossible not to respond to his authenticity and passion. He just called out to you. He was singing to say something and you couldn't help but react. One of a kind. (and yes, that sweater is so odd; even then, it was odd, but he didn't care much about that sort of thing, I believe... It's about his music, his voice and his message :-) )
