The 03 and 04 Terminator cobras all come with an aluminum driveshaft. They are all one piece. The sound is amazing. I have the same Bassani X pipe with cats and Borla stingers that you have and I love the sound.

Stingers are THE choice for 03/04 Cobras. They provide the tone that's associated with that engine without being just pure noise. Being cammed only make it that much better.

it sounds awesome with the Stingers. I'd get some long tube headers for it and keep the X pipe. The Borla ATAK's would be better, but I'd stay with the Stingers, but it's your choice and your Cobra. Either way, she sounds amazing! Keep it up, bro!

Maaaaaannnn, I sold my black terminator with the exact same exhaust minus cats a little over a year ago and hearing this car hit me in the feels. Best sounding mustang/exhaust combo ever in my opinion. Also, Terminators came stock with a 1 piece aluminum drive shaft

Complete 180 difference now and sounds awesome! This is just what the Terminator needed. I wouldn't change a thing now. We have a mild Borla set up on our 6.0 Pontiac G8 GT. Your sound is what I would go for, but the wife didn't want it too loud. It is her car after all. You hit it out of the park with the polishing and this sound is perfect.

I have stingers on my '03 cobra and I wouldn't change them for anything. They sound and look good. I'm not driving a racecar. I've gotten a little more tame as I've gotten older but I'm 100% happy with my mid-life crisis.

Derek. My opinion comes from personal experience and not like those who reads off forums. I don’t post often BTW. I have a 2003 GT convertible (Sonic blue). I initially went with Borla Stinger for about 8 months and it sounded great, loved it. Deep rumble and gives you that old muscle car sound. I noticed when I go WOT, the tone is so deep it kinda went quiet. So I figured I will try the Atak. The Atak for our generation (new edge isn’t as raspy as the coyotes so having the Atak is like having a Stinger that lessens the deep tone by a notch while it gives you that mean aggressive gurgle deep tone by 2 notches above. It’s much louder in a good way. I switched to the Atak last week and would never go back to the stinger. But don’t get me wrong, S type is great but it’s no Atak! The most honest reaction when ppl first put on the Stinger is “man, the sound is deeper than I thought.” Check put CJPonyparts, they have the same reaction as you and so did I. The deep tone is great, but after a few months, you will realize, during WOT, it’s too deep and quiet ! The best way I can describe the difference of the two between The Borla Stingers in the Borla Atak, is that The stinger will turn heads from how deep the tone is. The Atak will be 2-3 notches above in terms of noise and sounds a lot more aggressive. The Stinger let ppl know a Cobra is near by. The Atak let ppl know it’s there to make some noise!

That set up rite there is all you need. Now injectors, pulley, headers and Dyno tune,. Headers will wake it up even more. But those polished pipes look so Fn good! I tried polishing mine while they were on the car and it’s a pain in the Arse! Currently still rebuilding my 10gt500 800hp again.

The clunk is in the irs. I did the full tilt boogie kit in mine and put larger diameter low profile irs bolts in. Now I have extremely light cobra clunk lol. Car sounds badass btw!!

No, it’s not your drive shaft clunking, it’s your rear end! Most of them all do it tho. Many folks will brace the crap out of the rear. If your IRS hasn’t had the FTBR bushings installed your going to get a lot of wheels hop. FTBR also sells a ton of good rear end upgrades. You shouldn’t have to worry about rust falling on a 20k mile car.. unless it was driven in snow/salt sometimes and rusted over the years. Yea the Bassani would have been a little louder without he cats! But still not too much louder, like you said the mufflers are “chunky”. Car sounds great now! I was like PLEASE don’t put those cats back in 😆😆 It is dirty under there, I recommend cleaning all under there nicely. The plastic cover over the fuel tank can be cleaned and get some back to black or something, I’m surprised it’s so faded! Wow

From experience, I perfered deep tones over brute sound now. And this is coming from a guy who’s rocked off road x pipes and straight piped new edges and 5.0s. So even now for example. I rock stock manifolds, Pypes H Pipe (resonator delete), and Flowmaster Outlaws on my ‘18 5.0. I ain’t the loudest dude on the street but my car sounds like Simba roaring at the end of Lion King!

Corsa sports sound amazing on my cammed gt500, only reason I throw that out there is the cobra sounds super similar being almost an identical motor. My vote is to try the attacks though, definitely want to hear that chop, sounds pretty muffled with the stingers IMO. Best of luck on the build, car is awesome!

I think if you want to stick with the stingers definitely get longtubes. My friend has ARH, x pipe, and borla stingers on his terminator its one of best sounding mustangs ever imo. If you dont wanna do headers id say get the ataks!

1 piece Aluminum drive shaft was stock on Terminators. Also, those cats are not bassani cats. Now you need some longtube headers. ARH have great fitment...dont cheap out on the longtubes.

Love the car. Not sure I’d change that exhaust note. My one suggestion would be to lose the chrome COBRA inserts on the bumper. Just think it would make it look cleaner. Prob just highlight those exhaust tips too.

All 99-04 Mustangs, even cobras, came with 1 piece driveshafts. But that one does appear to be aluminum. Easy way to test, try sticking a magnet to it! Aluminum isnt magnetic.

DB your 100% correct! Upgrading the exhaust on a Mustang (especially a V8) makes the experience so much better ! I went off road H-pipe, mid-mounted 12” resonators,& Flowmaster Outlaws. My 06 GT 3V definitely ain’t that fast but she sure sounds BEASTLY AS F**K and for me that’s all that matters !!! I’m curious though…should I have mid-mounted the outlaws instead, & put the resonators in the axle back spot 🤔

I think ataks would’ve got you the sound your looking for, still sounds good! also I think your should do amber front headlights to flow with your amber tail lights now. Definitely needs long tubes, also should find the previous owner and find the history on that car. What brand cams, spec etc.
