Thanks for sharing with such honesty and frank ness, Derek! Those were really good tips on releasing negative intrusive thoughts to maintain your equilibrium on the trail. I'll be doing my own 1st hike in June and will keep that in mind. Remember when you feel your morale flagging we are all rooting you along in the sidelines! :)

Hello you! 😉 I really enjoyed that Derek. Your singing, your reasoning. It seems such a lush area your walking through and I am glad you have good company with you. I am so surprised by the lack of wildlife through. I thought you would have at least had an encounter with a bear by now or a cougar (4 legged one) 😊. So your quarter of your way on the trail, amazing. It will be over before you know and I bet you don't want it to end. ❤

Hello Derek I’m really enjoying your videos very much. Great eye with that camera and loving your stories. My friends and I do a lot of trail magic starting in southern Vermont and up through Maine. I’ll be watching for you as you get up this way and hopefully share some happiness with you and your fellow hikers. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing your hike with us all 👍👊

I'm enjoying your hike so much, Derek - I'd love to be on the trail likewise. It's also heartening to see your tribute to Chris McCandless (I enjoyed your video a couple of years back) and his realisation that we intrinsically need human companionship to feel happy.

I really missed Birdie singing along with you. If it weren't for the weight (+/- a pound), a tarp would quickly give you guys a gathering spot in rainy weather. Poor Chris M. must have also realized, too late, that survival alone in the bush isn't like in books. Unlike when you are with people, second chances are few. On a positive note, that burger looked delicious! Thanks for the video.

I presume that's phlox at 4:11. When you see it flowering you can think of the Christmas hymn: "While shepherds watched their phlox by night." I don't recall ever seeing it when visiting Ireland.

Yip thats it. With a view to christopher. This looks like a Netflix series. Looking at thru hiking. The mindset. Why how who . Whats required. Whats the daily weekly monthly plan outlook. Is it a good idea. Whats bad. Is it for me. Will i continue. What is after. Does it matter. How important is it. Philosophy of this. Philosophy of life. Do they join. How can i block these comments.
