Love these projects! I had recently added the Pilot iro-utsushi to my art pens. Hoping it might work for this. It's a cross between fountain and dip pen, with a good nib that's very smooth and easy clean up.

I've got a decent handle on pens, but have continually struggled with the viscocity of the paint. I suppose I simply need practice, but it's just me here in my studio-- hoping to find a bit more community of artists (whether glass or not) in the coming year

Excellent tutorial, as usual. Can the paint be made with any other colors besides tracing black? If so, are the proportions of pigment to oils roughly the same?

Yes, you can use this method with a variety of paints and also yellow silver stain. You’ll have to experiment a bit to make it work for you 🙂👍🏼

Viscocity question: a) it doesn't flow but for about two lines. I add oil. Then it seems to not be opaque enough. Feels damned if I do, damned if I don't. 🤷‍♀️ Still struggling. Yours seemed perfect consistency from the get-go, hoping I figure it out eventually.

Ok try this - mix up a brand new batch of paint, 5ml of paint, 5 ml of lavender oil and 10ml of clove oil. Leave for 24 hours then try with your pens. Let me know how you get on 🙂
