I leave my Bosch custom modes all at +5 support levels. It completely changes the motor, and in turbo mode, it's like a launch control. Just tap the pedal, and she's off! Funnily enough, it's not draining the 750w battery like I thought it would either. I've been impressed this month testing this. [66%] after a 3-hour ride, this is a game-changer to me. I just need my TRP A12 EASI now, but like getting blood out of a stone with info on it!

Polini has their finger on the pulse. I really like the idea of a fully serviceable motor . 25km limit is an unnatural and very low speed limit to have a forced limiter, it's dangerous. I too see no need for SL ebikes

I don't know tomorrows full powers are SL the line is getting a little blurry. Let hope the other manufactures realize the valve of making the parts to rebuild their motors available to customers for both them and the customer.

the 25kph limit is easy to explain that's slightly below mopeds which require a driving license a full helmet and a license plate in most of Europe, you can't have emtb faster than that without the same requirements and frankly it's a good thing, for me emtb are motorbikes nothing at all like a muscular bike, a muscular bike you turn you slow down you think you slow down you hesitate you slow down, anyone and everyone on an emtb can do 25kph average speed with zero skill nor fitness nor awareness, emtbs also accelerate very quickly going downhill I measured 0 to 50kph in 3-4s frankly scary coming down a mountain pass I just couldn't let the brakes go for second, emtb are(were) heavy they reach max speed in 2s put this into random people hands and it's a disaster "bicycle" accidents have skyrocketed selling unlimited emtb to unlicensed riders would be like rich kids buying a 500hp supercar with no driving experience it never ends well, I drive a 370hp sportscar I hike I mtb I skateboard I snowboard I also tuned car engines for almost a decade so I know a thing of two about "unlocking performance" I'm just realistic about what would happen case in point one of my elderly bought a 85nm emtb and ended up in front of a pickup truck luckily only a leg broken

@@fredEVOIX With all due respect, perhaps its your euro background but what made the west the best is property rights and the rule of law protecting people and not controlling people. Trying to rap people up in cotton wool because " speed may hit 50 k's in the 2`s " is just ludicrous. Owning an ebike its my private property and as my private property I should have the right to derestrict the bike. Derestriction is not for all out speed, derestriction is to maintain trail cadence and speeds . As a person that has been riding DH/ trail / Ebikes for over 25 years bikes in my adult life, I know as a fact most people will not hit average speeds over 30 KPH whilst on a trail/ tracks unless on fast open decent , so the hole moped argument is crazy . Mopeds don't average 25KPH they average far higher speeds. Look, as a 52 YO shit hot ridder with well above average skill ill tell you what the most dangers thing on an emtb is,,,,, Its the loss of control over the bike , its the derestriction taking control of the bike and control away from the rider , its coming up to a feature and the bike governing your cadence, its bureaucracy sitting behind a dest believing they know best while you are in the moment in control . In regard to makers of EMTB motors , they hide behind derestriction and wont warranty motors that have been derestricted or in there view mistreated,,,, its private property and as the owner I should have the right to do as I please. Makers of electric motors should have tolerance not hide behind government 25 KPR laws as the government and the rule of law is to protect us not control us or protect some over others. Maybe its just the older MTBrs are still rebells as we had to fight had as f to have access and we were treated like criminals just as I did in my early years skateboarding ,,,,,, but seriously man grab your ball and dig deep stop being so soft.

Like the video very informative. I currently own a 2024 Marin alpine trail e2 with shimano ep801 and I love it but I had to get it unlocked because I couldn't get over the jumps that I could on my non powered trek fuel ex! I had be doing 30 plus kms to get over without casing. Now the bike is unlocked its perfect

Rode a Merida with the EP801 opened to 45kph and a 750Wh battery recently. Riding a loop I use regularly the only real benefit found was on a couple fire roads where I used to ride my analogue bike at around 35 to 38kph and could do so on the Merida, where both my Bosch bikes start tailing off around 28-30 and are not worth trying to push through the 32kph limit. The other place where I noticed a difference was on a couple trails that were relatively flat, but with rolling undulations. Was much easier to stay on the pedals through sections where peddling was required. Unfortunately the settings on thr EP801 were all over the place and far from the default settings so difficult to get a real feel - couple with the owner not having any thumb switch to change modes and just set it from the display to eMTB mode and leaves it in that or Turbo. For a while I ran one of my Bosch CX with the default firmware & 75NM and the other at 85NM. The rides were much more enjoyable with the 85NM and strangely enough, the range with the 625Wh battery was not a lot different. Peak power really doesn't mean too much to me, but that torque is where I find the most benefit.

Unlocked my turbo Levo and it's day and night so much better where I ride. 25 kph is just too slow for open flowing cross country but not as big a deal in a steep bike park environment. It is still good to be able to have the assist for fast downhill coming out of corners or clearing big jumps . I see these more powerful bikes as pointless if you're stuck with a 25 kph limit that you will reach quicker because of the extra Nm and watts.

@@Domestos99percent Correct, if you unlock the motor is is then classed as a motor vehicle so you need insurance, license etc to take it on the public roads.

@@Domestos99percent depending which country your in , USA class 3 ( class 1 unlocked )can be throttle controlled and top speed assist about 40 kph , It's not like unlocking a bike adds anymore power , it's just an assist limit which in turn can limit speed, without it your limited by physics and these class 1 bikes are no motor bikes. Nearly every electric scooter I see is unlocked as they are doing over 30 kph and are highly unstable , to many rules and an unlocked class 1 is not a lethal weapon.

I own a 2023 giant trance X29, a 22 Jeckyll and two aurum DH bikes (14/17) even on the steepest groomed downhill circuit a rarely hit more than 80 km/h. You feel the whole of it, on my 290+ pounds YZ325 (big block 250) 80 km/h (as it's geared top speed) doesn't feel that fast. Be careful what you wish for 😂

I really wanted to buy bike with Polini motor. Unfortunately I faced multiple problems with their approach to market. 1. You can buy only Italian brands which make bikes with this motor. 2. Above is even more frustrating when you ask for bike price. Since this is mostly in house local Italian bike manufactures they do it locally and manually (carbon frames with their own molds) which is very costly. 3. 10k euro for a Ecrown is huge, Polini motor + frame + battery + other Plini equipment costs 5k euro (Ecrown) 4. For 10k euro I can have Pinion MGU E.12 and enduro bike which is more appealing for me but I would never spend 10K euro for an E-bike ;-) 5. So instead of going after fully servicable motor (thank god Polini you are doing it!!) I was foced to buy 4k euro fully equiped Mondraker E-Bike with Shimano EP801 and 1080Wh battery with better suspension system than Ecrown. Remaining 6k euro I can spend on another bike or buy 4 more EP801 motors... 6. If only Polini starts selling their complete system to individuals I'll buy it and fit into my current E-bike once EP801 die...

Yeah limiters are useless and unnecessary. Could live with the 32kmh US limit but the EU 25kmh is just ridicolous.

32kph is above the speed you need a drivers license a full helmet and a license plate on your moped or low power motorbike in Europe that's why, oh yeah also it would mean they are officiallymotorized vehicles and thus forbidden to go on trails or hiking paths or cycle lanes etc...BANNED from anything but roads (45kph riders don't respect the law but that's another topic), it's 25kph or that...for now they benefit from being in a grey area you don't want to remind authorites there's a MOTOR on those bikes because one might realize they were motorbikes all along, oh yeah also chinese bicycle burn all the time because unlocking speed might strain the battery or circuitry and become a fire hazard...hope you won't have such problems because a bicycle battery can easily burn a house down or worse this also you need to take into account, I know I'm annoying it's pretty much my job to find problems I see what would happen if speed wasn't limited, more drastic regulations
