Dr Dray, I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate your no nonsense approach to skincare, sunscreen, and hygiene products. As a consumer it can be extremely frustrating trying to weed out the good from the bad. I also have a tremendous amount of respect for the fact that you stress the importance of sunscreen as part of a daily routine. My skin and that of my families is now healthy, hydrated, and protected from sun damage thanks to you! You really are a breath of fresh air in the KZbin community. Thank you! 😁

I don't know why there's so much negativity around petroleum jelly. I have eczema on my eyelids and it's the only thing that keeps it at bay. Also! Vaseline rebranded its petroleum jelly as "healing jelly", probably because of all the negative press.

I know right!? I've got psoriasis (misdiagnosed as eczema mostly because of my own choices, when a doctor asks you to do a full physical exam and bloodwork, do it), petrolatum over keresal on my nails and a salycic acid body wash has cut down my psoriasis flares. Other than low dose medications, avoiding triggers, and a simplified skin care routine has really helped.

I use that Tom's Silly Strawberry children's toothpaste! I have sensory issues and just cannot use mint or cinnamon oral care products. And I couldn't find a non-alcohol, non-mint, non-cinnamon, non-anise [because I hate it], non-sodium lauryl sulfate mouthwash in any of my local stores so I've been using the coordinating Tom's Silly Strawberry children's mouthwash. I do think it's the *amount* of SLS in the products that's the issue, because when I use a typical high-SLS mouthwash the inside of my mouth peels but I don't have any issues with the Tom's products. Now I need to find a vegan unflavored dental floss [I'm allergic to beeswax, which coats most of the unflavored flosses I've found].

Your my #1 fav in the world to shop skincare products and even makeup. Your product reviews are unbiased, honest and based on facts. You really help clear away all the misleading myths regarding skincare and even makeup at times. These myths cannot only be costly money wise, but can also lead to serious health problems especially when it comes to guarding your skin from harmful sun rays. Dr. Dray you are diligent about proper sunscreen protection and I love the way you taught us how to use it. This is life saving advice. Skin cancer is no joke. I know I can’t say it enough, but I thank you, my skin is best condition it has been since I was a teen many years ago. Love you and love your channel.

Could you do an updated CeraVe product review? Ive heard that ever since it was bought out by L’Oreal , they have changed the ingredients in CeraVe products with cheaper ones that now cause burning sensation for a lot of customers, including myself. Could you share other products that might be dupes of the original CeraVe products?

If you want a Dr Dray approved alternative to the CeraVe moisturizing lotion, check out Ceramedx. They have a lotion and a cream in a tub, just like CeraVe. I’m not exactly sure why, but I prefer the Ceramedx lotion to the CeraVe one. It’s hard to find though, I buy it at Sprouts.

I picked up the CeraVe ultra light spf 30, by the second day my face was burning so bad, it took more than 5 days for it to feel good again. Had I kept the reciept I would have taken it back.

Victoria Sault , thank you for confirming! I had been using the foaming facial cleanser for years (along with pm moisturizer). Decided to try sample of hydrating cleanser and couple days later wondered why my cheeks burned when washing. Went back to foaming wash and all better! But now Im worried that L’Oreal is working its way through the product line and substituting cheaper, harsher ingredients...

jessica victor it’s sort of slippery but not that much, it’s not like a big feeling of lip balm. It sort of feels like a dry oil on your skin, it really hydrates my lips and doesn’t stay on forever because it gets absorbed.

I think I’m going to end up getting one of elf’s booster drops, the hydrating one. It’s full on winter here in Milwaukee and my skin is so dry, even with humidifiers going. The cerave skin renewing night cream at night is really helping, too.

@@remainingembers I agree -- Physicians Formula hydrating and also the other one, time restoring-pink bottle, as those were the two Dr. Day has recommended in other videos. I think the ingredients and 'positive feedback' that then equal success of the vitamin shot line is better than ELF.

Dr Dray! I just was in target and I picked up two of those little hand sanitizers to carry with me everywhere since we are going into flu season. I got a kick when you picked those up. I also picked up a fragrance free moisturizer in the travel section so that if I do happen to wash my hands while out and about I can seal in some moisture to prevent that trans epidermal water loss. 😂❤️

Yes in deed that was the most considerate reminder. So they gave me a Christmas gift idea, moisturizing hand creams for those who frequently wash their hands or use sanitizers often throughout the day. Got my eyes on that Neutrogena. Gold Bond has a good one too, at least it feels good on my hands. I see the lady sitting around the office with Bath & Body Works or Victoria's Secrets lotions with all that fragrance. Gee I hope they're not reading this. Give plan change! :-)

I actually work at target in the beauty department and only recommend the things you have, like cerave, spf, etc. I try to stray people away from the hype products, because you’ve transformed my skin just by listening to your advice. That said, I’ve been on accutane for severe acne, and even that didn’t help completely. My skin is the most perfect it’s ever been only because of your help and no-nonsense approach to products.

Dr Dray I'd love to hear your opinion on The Ordinary - "buffet" + copper peptides 1%. It was pretty expensive (for The Ordinary) which I was suckered into equating to "it's going give me babies skin". If you are aware of it do you think its good? INGREDIENTS: Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Lactococcus Ferment Lysate, Copper Tripeptide-1, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Pentapeptide-18, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38, Dipeptide Diaminobutyroyl Benzylamide Diacetate, Acetylarginyltryptophyl Diphenylglycine, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Sodium Hyaluronate, Allantoin, Glycine, Alanine, Serine, Valine, Isoleucine, Proline, Threonine, Histidine, Phenylalanine, Arginine, Aspartic Acid, Trehalose, Fructose, Glucose, Maltose, Urea, Sodium PCA, PCA, Sodium Lactate, Citric Acid, Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin, Sodi um Chloride, Sodium Hydroxide, Butylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Acacia Senegal Gum, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Polysorbate 20, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Sodium Benzoate, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin

I found this on Reddit: Anti-inflammatory agents may reduce symptoms of major depression, suggests a new study (n=1,610), which adds to the mounting evidence that there is a connection between emotional functioning and inflammation, suggesting that inflammation may trigger depression, almost like an allergic reaction. I thought it somewhat apropos to mental health and dermatology.

I mean there was a similar but complete opposite connection with Accutane. People who’s acne rapidly cleared up realize that acne isn’t the only thing bad in their life sort of thing, and especially since those who go on Accutane are the worst cases. I have depression and was diagnosed before taking Accutane and maybe it’s because I have more of my life together that it’s not as bad? That I’m able to regularly remember to take my pill because of the habit and importance of taking Accutane? I feel as though there are so many factors that can contribute to these sorts of things that studies aren’t able to include due to the complexity of real world factors.
