ALLYSUN I use the banana boat simply protect baby version. It’s the one that Dr. Dray pointed to on the shelf with the pink cap. At Target, it’s like $7. I love it, and I use it year round. I also use “Altruist” sunscreen, but that one you have to order on Amazon from the UK. I used Dr. Drays link in her description box to pick that one up. Super affordable, and comes in a big pump bottle if you want the big size. 👌

I asked Dr. Dray about using diaper rash cream for my mild eczema on my upper thigh and apparently she didn't know. I personally wouldn't use diaper rash cream as a sunscreen, but there are "sunscreens" that I have tried that left a far worse white cast than diaper cream. We need to be our own advocates when it comes to our own skin care needs.
@palladio74765 жыл бұрын
@@cassiebrown9786 I agree about being our own advocates but a big part of that is research of ingredients and intelligent decision making. If there is no testing on a product in terms of sunscreen filters and there are hundreds of tested SPF products to choose from then as an intelligent advocate the choice seems pretty clear. My experience with using thick, occlusive diaper rash ointment on children and grandchildren for many years and trying to wash it off my hands after applying it to bottoms makes me wonder why in the world would anyone want to put it on their face. Maybe this came from the same old ideas about putting toothpaste on blemishes, scrubbing your face with baking soda or using ACV as a toner which all originated in a time when we didnt have so many efficatious products to choose from. Cheers!

So great, as always! I wish people realized that it’s important to preserve cosmetics and to keep them stable over time. I bought some handmade soap on Etsy, and it grew mold on it! It was difficult to notice because I shower in the morning when I’m exhausted and bleary-eyed. Plus, my eyesight is terrible, and I don’t wear glasses in the shower. On top of that, there were herbs in the soap that surfaced over time, and it camouflaged the mold, and the texture was slimy from the get go. I have no idea how long I was enthusiastically rubbing mold all over my body 🙈😩😖🤮 NEVER AGAIN.

One thing I learned was all the “parent” companies that produce these products and sell in China. It’s quite interesting who owns what too. If your product is sold in China (there are many) and maybe other countries test on animals too, it is mandatory the product be tested on animals. I really enjoy your videos though. I was especially shocked about olay (in Germany it is marketed as Oil of Olaz), I remember the days when they only had that light pink bottle. I mean in Germany we have Nivea Creme but not even them have expanded their range like this. But I know other countries have different Nivea stuff. Consumerism is insane. The most prominent brands are living of their reputation that is based on some uneducated guesses or a kind of family tradition since for example Nivea was the only cream that people after the war times in the booming phase (50s - 60s) could buy (and afford). People buy that stuff because other people buy it and take this as a validation for quality -_- I always think, please read the ingredients list (but then they would only search for parabens or silicones -_- I guess, we can't win)

@@pickledginger5876 yes they can be and are recycled at our home. The problem becomes that recycling centers have no use for the volume of recycling they get and is frequently dumped in landfills. Joan Vignocchi Me too. I struggle with the “leave on” time with the shampoo tho because I also like to leave my conditioner on for 5-10 minutes. Then sometimes even a hair mask/treatment. Makes for a long shower time. Which isn’t *always* a bad thing, but it isn’t for “quick shower” days. 😊

@@Pamela-B i cut my hair to save water in our SoCal droughts but now i'm not working so can't afford a cut - and it's all grown out so just to rinse my Tsubaki conditioner out of my hair takes forEVER - ugh! but learning about salicylic acid for scalp was really helpful. i have been using cerave SA body wash, then do the face and essential areas, then rinse, then condition. literally after 25 years of scratching my head, i "fixed" it with the cerave body wash after 2 uses. watching these videos showed me what ingredients to look for. so grateful! i would never have thought to go to a dermatologist for a concern like this, i just thought i had hard water or that it was life. i save doctor visits for the important stuff and have never even been to a dermatologist. so this is really a huge public service.

Hi Dr. Dray! Another Vichy Minerale 89 fan here. After I heard several flight attendants raving about it, I gave it a try--great stuff! Good deal when Walgreens has their mix and match sale, or CVS sends a 30% off coupon :)

Does sunscreen prevent skin sagging? I know that it prevents wrinkles and hyperpigmentation but what about sagging? I can't find any scientific data on the internet.

I was able to pick up a 225ml tube of Aveeno's Daily Moisturizering Lotion yesterday 40% off from Priceline here in Australia. I was tempted to go for the bigger one but wasn't sure if I'd like it -- turns out I do. Thanks for suggesting that one in another vid, I never would have even considered it if you hadn't mentioned and recommended it.

Hey Dr Dray! Can you please do a video on the difference between salicylic, hyaluronic, and glycolic acid face washes and face products? It seems like they’re all good to use, I’m just not sure if one is better for a certain issue or skin type, or if you can/should use all of them on a rotation. Thanks!!

She's so right; my daughter into the teenage years has tried this and that, went to a dermatologist. And her skin is a mess. I think she just has really sensitive skin. We went to a hotel one time and the pillow case sent her face into a tizzy. That was the one time and only time a doctor said it was okay to use hydrocortisone on the face. I think the more stuff you use, try, the more confusing it gets. We do not use hydrocortisone on a regular basis though because I think they said it was a cousin to a steroid. Then you get into makeup, even a popular noncomedogenic one (won't say name) also caused a mess with her face (stinging).

Hi! Love you and all of the videos shopping with you! *I have a question!* I can’t figure it out myself so could you comment on how different Aveeno, Cetaphil, and Cerave are? I am currently trying to find which one works the best but I’m also not sure if it’s in my head since they all seem so similar. I have dry skin specifically on my neck and eczema on my eyelids. Thank you! Love and appreciate you! 🖤💜💙💛💗

Loved this video! So practical. So far I'm mostly sticking to the basics. It's working! I do use DEJ eye cream that's working to really decrease the depth of my wrinkles around my eyes. It came from my dermatologist. I layer that and CeraVe.

I have a question about skin turnover and sun damage. If our skin is constantly renewing itself, why is is that sun exposure in our youth can affect us as sun damage in middle age? Shouldn't that old skin be gone already? (I'm thinking of examples of how we regenerate new lungs, livers, etc) How far back can our skin be affected? And how far foward in life can we protect our skin?
@DrDrayzday5 жыл бұрын
no...cummulative.uv signature mutations results in clonal expansion of abnormal cell populations....sun exposure over our life time that continues to add more mutations to these expanded clones is what leads to skin cancer

Still binging on your videos since i found you a week ago! Went on a CeraVe shopping spree...got the foaming facial cleanser, PM facial moisturizing lotion and the hyaluronic acid serum. I have sensitive skin that is oily to combo with occasional breakouts and so far I’m loving all these products. Edit: I meant to also add that with the "serum" I experienced the balling/pilling like you stated in your review video but found if I "pat" it on instead of rub it doesn't seem to happen as much. Still enjoying it though!

When I went for PT on my hands after Carpal Tunnel surgery, the Hand Therapist told me NOT to wear the silicone strip all the time but to only wear it when sleeping. She said if you wear it all the time, doing that can cause a different type of skin condition. You don’t want to keep it constantly moist. But treatment varies depending on the type of scar & it may not be effective for everyone.
