These are great videos I share with my physical therapist assistant students. Short, clean, and to the point.

You guys always come up with most presentable information. This video is informative but dermatomes is one hell of a topic that's tough to memorize.

Glad to hear - trying our best! Yeah it can be - our best advice is to draw them on a partner once or twice and you will never forget them. Or remember typical points (like the top of the middle finger for C7 etc.) instead of the regions.

Again, great portion of knowledge :) keep up the good work! There are a lot of dermatomes maps, and we also know that innervation is mostly multisegmental rather than selective. Sometimes we should depend on our intuition! Cant wait for more stuff from You guys ;)
@Physiotutors7 жыл бұрын
thanks for the compliment, we certainly will! Yes, the different maps are certainly a problem which impairs reliability. However, a dermatome is a segment that is mainly innervated by one spinal segment rather than multisegmental innervation. Still research suggests that it is difficult to diagnose a specific level based on findings in sensory assessment: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12544957

what do we use for dermatomal testing? should it be a cotton or brush ?
@Nyotakikora1 Жыл бұрын
Because you are testing sensations over the dermatomes. Light touch (cotton ball), versus sharp/dull (safety pin. The pin head and the bend for dull), versus vibration (tunning fork), versus deep pressure (end of a eraser). Hope it helped

How can we check dermatomes from C1-C4?
@Physiotutors6 жыл бұрын
It's literally around the neck and chest but rarely affected by radiculopathy: here is a common dermatome chart also used as reference for this video: asia-spinalinjury.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/International_Stds_Diagram_Worksheet.pdf

WHAT IS SN STANDS FOR?
@Physiotutors6 жыл бұрын
"sensitivity" a term used to describe diagnostic accuracy of a test
@drtekchandsharma4 жыл бұрын
Dermatomes are nerve fibre .which are innervated by single nerve ... Here innervation means ..???.. Dermatomes are sensory so they will give information towards spinal chord .. Why innervation word is used ..
