I cried…. Being from Chicago you know how this feels . He was the chosen one . Playing on those same courts as a kid , I think most of us Chicago kids were living vicariously through him. He was living the dream out getting drafted by his home town team. Then seeing the talent level being clipped and cut short by injuries. It hurts like hell . He was cut from the cloth of Jordan Bron Kobe …..that tier. Just didn’t get to reach it . That’s why it hurts bad . Then to see his kid crying knowing his dad was great but understanding the dynamic of his career being cut short and what he could of been. That hurts.. I’m sure PJ almost feels he has to finish writing his dad story. However PJ, you don’t … make your own. We know how great Drose was , nobody wanted to see him. whoever your favorite player is will tell you the same. He didn’t want to see him. Drose is forever my all time point guard. Bro i teared up throughout this whole thing. Rose has been my #1 favorite player ever since i heard about him as a youngin when he was playing electrifying ball in high school all throughout to college ball. Then when i heard the bulls drafted him in 08 as the #1 pick (my all time favorite team since i was a kid) i was ecstatic. I tried my best to mimick his game when i played youth league, to AAU, to high school and even a little after that just for fun. I was a point guard and was always known as a rim attacker-quick,agile, too fast on the court when it came to drives. I just tried to play the exactly like him all the damn time. I’ll always forever love this guy for what he brought to Chicago and for what he brought to the game of basketball. He’s a humble ass dude and never was about the drama or fell into pressure. Omg, this was the BEST f***king ceremony I've ever seen!!! 😢 Like bro comment down low said, I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying! 😭 🥲 *SOME SAYING* D Rose in his prime was the best. He NEVER stopped being a prime player. He was just THAT good. Injuries took way, yes, but when son came back, bro got busy like he never left. He got 50 AFTER the injuries, later in his career. He just didn't get the playing time he deserved, even though he was ALWAYS BETTER than 90 percent of his teammates, if not ALL. Love you, Derrick Rose. Your last name says it all. You taught us ALL to rise no matter what chur going through: and that's why we *"ROSE"* from ALL adversities.

Such a special and exciting talent. For anyone who watched this man play during his career, especially during his prime days, we all know this brother was special. Unstoppable, dynamic, a threat anywhere on the court. We all know his injuries robbed him of the ceiling we all saw him reaching. Even still, what a remarkable basketball talent and he will always be remembered as an all-time great. Looking forward to his next chapter as a businessman.

Story Time: In October 2008 during his rookie season my family moved between different parts of Chicago. I just turned 11. New school, didn’t know any of the kids, parents were busy trying to get a new life set up, and I was struggling to adjust. My uncle got me a D Rose fathead as a birthday gift to put up in the room I was going to share with my little sister. Basketball was always my escape, and I already felt like the biggest D Rose fan in the world at that time. I felt as though maybe there was a chance he felt the same way I did. Simultaneously feeling blessed and at home being showered with love but also in unfamiliar territory. He seemed like a quiet guy, just trying to grow up and make a life for himself. I watched him on the TV dazzle on the court every night I could, and I was trying to copy those moves at the park every chance I could get. He was my hero, and when I was on the court trying to be like him it pushed out all of loneliness and confusion of that time. After a while of being a regular at the park, talking about D Rose and plying ball helped me create my first new friendships at that time. He inspired me not be afraid to express myself and to try to be the best that I could be while always honoring where I come from and the family I am blessed to have. He’ll probably never know me and I doubt anyone is going to read this anyways, but I felt like I had to share how inspiring this man was to me growing up. I will be forever thankful for #1 D 🌹. That fathead is still plastered on the wall of my childhood bedroom at my parent’s place 😂.
