They literally are like the only continent thats habitable thats not evolved like at all. They live in villages. I mean respect to them because I doubt most Americans could do that but why would we learn about an under developed place? The Europeans created a lot of what you use today as did the French, Germans, Latins, and Asians. The African people have the potential and the great minds they just need to focus on their own country and build it up piece by piece. Then maybe we can learn about how they turned everything around. It’s a mysterious continent and should be explored and studied as much as Europe in my opinion. An African studies course would definitely be welcomed in my home and my kids would take it. The world is so much more than Europe, Asia and America. I love this generation of kids because they’re not afraid to call out the establishment on their favoritism of Western culture and they now understand how institutionalized racism keeps students from learning about Africa. Why would a “democracy” restrict education?

When I first saw news articles saying that DeSantis denied AP African American History, I was confused on why, as African Americans do play a big role in American history. After seeing this video now I see why DeSantis blocked it. I hope the course is revised, so it can be taught.

Any revision won’t be the complete and bitter truth. Therefore it’s useless. I find it odd that many places in the south including Florida still have ropes hanging from 300 year old trees. And no body bats an eye. Teaching the whole truth may put this country back into civil war. When they said no reparations, they meant it.

It's an elective course and if you pass the AP exam you get college credits in a general college African American studies course. The same goes for a AP Psychology course or a AP Geography course.
