Hi Maria, thanks for practicing with me. Understanding Sirsasana is important. Hope this helps your practice. Start slow and build up. If getting tired come down, not staying too long as you develop. Namaste

Hi Turiya, block size can vary but this is a good approximate.? 13x24x8 - these are teak but any hard wood will work. 😘🙏🏻

Hi Kathy, I’m 75 years old and came to Iyengar yoga five months ago. I have tried to gain the confidence to do Sirsana but it isn’t as simple. Anyway, i continue to try but the fear at the moment I’m to bring the 2nd leg off the floor grips me and all the structure starts to collapse. Then, i have to go to the very beginning over and over. I noticed that your floor is similar to the one in my house and my mats start to slide. Do you experience the same and how to prevent it? I’ll try using your example with the blanket in between, perhaps that will help. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Kind regards❤
@DesaYogiIyengarYoga2 жыл бұрын
Hi Clarita, Congratulations on your courage and determination! Of course you must have a stable floor, mat, chair and wall to do those variations. My mat is very sticky so it does not slide. In fact, I have used many floors and never had my mat slide. Could it be your mat? Go to the class in KZbin or from my site, www.desayogi.com to the video entitled, Iyengar yoga Inversions for Arm strength and balance. Please watch the Time Stamp 20;20. There I show another version which may be a better starting place for you. Let me know if that helps. Namaste

@@DesaYogiIyengarYoga thank you, Kathy, for taking the time to respond, and thank you also for sending me the link to you website which I have already visited. One of the things that attracted me to your videos was your calm and collected way to guide the class. My mat is double sided with a lot of grip, which is why I was surprised and worried. During the winter here in Canada, nothing is sticky ⛄️; so, a folded blanket in between a folded in two mat seems to stabilize it. I know I’ll be spending time following your mindful and wise classes. Again, thank you kindly. Enjoy the Bali weather. Namaste.
