A very classy video capturing much of what is so special on the Coolidge. My wife and I completed almost 2000 dives each for Allan Power and have very fond memories of Allan and his guides.

Hi Scott and Ellis, Allan Power Dive Tours have re-opened in Santo, Vanuatu. As well as offering dive tours, we are now constructing a family friendly dive resort that spans the entire 400 metres of beachfront in Banban where The Coolidge sank in 1942. Your footage is incredible and with your permission we would like to share it with our new guests and divers who are about to explore The Coolidge. We'd like to ask you back and come stay and dive with us for a week later this year. You can meet some of the old crew you dived with.

I recently finished watching all 3 seasons of departures. I thoroughly enjoyed each episode and was sad when I finished watching the final episode. It left me wanting more. I found that I could buy season 1 of Descending, so I look forward to watching it next. I would love to see more departures footage or a new season. Andre did a superb job of filming. I felt like I was on each adventure with the guys..

Watching in 4K is such a "extreme" experience!

This ship has quite a story of heroism. After hitting the mine and thinking all 5,000 men were safely off the ship it was realized that a number of men were trapped in the infirmary. Elwood Euart, my great uncle from pawtucket R.I. went back on board, tied a rope around his waist and one by one went in to get these men. After getting them all to safety the ship listed and trapped him on board and he went down with her. 70+ years later they put together a team to recover his remains and bring him home to R.I. Elwood was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross in a ceremony after returning home. There is a memorial marker and an Pacific shipping lane named after him today.

A Rank Sentimentalist my father was also on the Coolidge when it sank. He was with a bunch of men from Vermont!

So was my Dad. He had a lot of stories.

@@donnadavidson3904 Yep, that's where my Dad was from. He joined the Vermont National Guard in 1938 because he thought a war was going to break out, and he wanted to go with the best people possible, which in his mind were Vermonters.

Dived with Rehan when he was running Aquamarine He started out with our trip OK but hell what a turn around He was so unsafe I asked him why are you always way ahead of your divers Regs not working n free flowing tanks never filled to working pressure Torches flooding with no back ups and not checking divers air contents gauges We nearly had a drowning because of that

That is scary. I just did 3 dives with Paul at Allan Powers. I was happy that tanks were properly filled and we ended all of our dives with plenty left (1000 psi). The cargo holds are pretty deep, but there are deeper dives on the wreck, so one must be careful. I was happy to have a divemaster to myself on two of my dives.
