Great video, thanks for putting this out! I just got Act 1 / the core box over Christmas and I've only played the first scenario, but I'm really excited to get this. The differences of the heroes, like Vaerix's armor over his bandages when he only had just the bandages on the original is really cool. Of course that dragon "ature" (there's nothing "mini" about it!) is amazing, though I'd be terrified to paint it! I've heard that the expansion can even alter Act 1, somehow? Perhaps new gear and items? Though maybe I heard wrong

You’re welcome! If you integrate Act 1 with Act 2, you’ll get slightly different layouts to the dungeons (haven’t played Act 1 with it but that’s how it was with Journeys In Middle-Earth) and certain enemies and items may show up in Act 1. It’s a nice touch and adds variety. This is an awesome board game to have gotten over Christmas! If you’re anything like me, you’re going to love it! Enjoy it!

That statue was very confusing until I watched you build it. The instructions from the box were incomprehensible. I wish the part numbers were micro printed on the larger parts at least.

Looks like a cool expansion. Size difference with the dragon really reminds me of Shadows of Brimstone. Another game with significant size differences with some models.

Anyway, yes, it is a really cool expansion and I would love to play Shadows of Brimstone but I’m afraid of going overboard with the expansions. I don’t trust myself 😂

@@SoloBoardGamingKnight Shadows of Brimstone is one of those games you really need to think twice about before buying in at all. There's the fact that you need to assemble the minis yourself, and you really need SOME expansions before too long. And there's just too much stuff released for it. So easy to go overboard.

Maybe. Overall, this expansion has been very positive. I was taken aback when I found out the price which didn’t bother me for Act 1 as it did for Act 2. I was expecting the price to be at least slightly lower. Thankfully, what is here is high quality.

Damn. Every thing looks amazing. Very tempting. However the gameplay for act 1 just didn't impress me at all. Unless they did major changes to gameplay I won't be getting this. But dang that quality is 10/10

Everything included here is really impressive! In your case, since you didn’t enjoy Act 1, you will most likely not enjoy this. It’s more of the same. The biggest differences I’ve noticed so far are the dungeon layouts being pretty epic looking and I really enjoy the updated art. Also, the new abilities are pretty nice, as well. Still, it’s more of the same gameplay-wise.

@@SoloBoardGamingKnight i can't put my finger on it, but I felt like act 1 through the app and dice rolling, there wasn't enough strategy. It unfortunately got annoying to play and i wasn't expecting that. I wish there was more strategy though terrain use, elevation, and positioning. Especially since other dungeon crawlers have it. However I can and do give this game a strong reccomendation for people

@@jcapo5 When it comes to the elevation, I feel that there definitely was a missed opportunity. Even with that, I did find the adventure enjoyable. The sense of exploration won me over and the combat is enjoyable especially as the game unfolds. With that written, there are much deeper dungeon crawlers out there like Middara, Etherfields and Gloomhaven, for example, that offer much more strategy. The good thing about Descent is that it offers a balanced mix of strategy, exploration and tactics without feeling overwhelming. Perfect for those long days when I get home and want to enjoy something without stressing too much. Like you mentioned, it’s a game that is recommended but it definitely won’t be for everyone. My biggest complaint would have to be the price point. Even for an expansion, this was expensive.

I found the Legends of the Dark for 99€ in my local game shop. Could not pass. Haven't played or painted minis in 15y. Got in the deep end and it took me 3 months to paint all minis. A week ago played the first mission with my friends, took us 6h 39min, had a blast. Tomorrow we're gonna continue the journey. Hopefully the shop will need shelf space for new sets and they will drop the price on the Act 2. The new minis look amazing.

The Dragon miniature is the worst I have ever seen. Many people were not happy with the awkward pose. Im guessing they had the box dimensions and had to make it fit.

To me, it looks impressive. I prefer this to the dragon we received in Act 1 by a mile. You may be right about making it fit in the box but I didn’t notice that and the pose didn’t bother me at all.

really? the worst you've ever seen? exaggerate much? or maybe youve never seen a Fantasy Flight game before? have you seen the little dinky dragon from Talisman Dragon expansion? have you seen the crappy waxy low detail dragons from Descent 1st and 2nd edition? The sculpt is slightly awkward but also very dynamic and extremely detailed and HUGE for a mini. For a retail board game, this is probably by far the best dragon ever to be included.

Next time I make an unboxing video, I’ll keep that in mind. You’re right, there is no information on the internet. I searched. Basically, there are new weapons with abilities as well as trinkets and armor. From what I’ve seen so far I can tell you that it is more of the same as Act 1 with some nice abilities added to the mix. Similar to the art, it seems that a good amount of thought went into the new abilities. I know it’s not much but I hope this helps give you a small idea of what to expect.

The first minis were great. They made it on my “Top 10 Minis” video. Act 2, however, really went above and beyond! Descent has some of the best minis I own!
