So…..Prickly Pear was my last flower to complete for this flower series. Unfortunately me and Prickly Pear did not get along, therefore, I went back 3 years to the Single White Flower tutorial and I painted the background to match this flower series. I am happy that I did that. I didn’t feel complete without 8 flowers. Thanks for all you do Ginger❤

That was a great idea, as we really have several other flowers that would have worked for this series. A single white flower is one of the best ones I think.

Hello. I have a question for Ginger. Is it necessary to gesso the canvas? Also, I signed up at the Orange level, and absolutely love the fact that you provide the traceable in color, black and white showing and values, and the reverse image. That helps greatly! Thank you for doing what you do! You have inspired me to pick up painting after 40 years. Enjoy the cruise. I lived on a cruiseship for 10 years as a crew member. Best gig ever! I miss it.

Welcome, and thank you for the positive feedback. Canvas comes pre gessoed, so we normally just do what I call an underpainting for the background colors. I did not do that in this one as I wanted the white background for the bright orange flower, but I did do 2 coats of blue background paint. I have 2 question, I have regular gold. How can I make Marigold with it? Cad hue colors are very different from just cad colors?

cad hues differ, depending on the brand. some are brighter and some duller. Try cad yellow and a bit of orange for marigold.
