One thing that I would say: that is a great build. The offset door is more realistic than a centered door would be.

Nice job. I don’t play Star Wars Legion but do think these could find there way into WW2 or even Warhammer boards. As an aside. My local gaming store runs many different games, in the past I’ve built buildings and dropped them off at the store for others to play on. Folks like seeing a new structure to play around, you don’t have to find a place to put it in your house, and it’s fun to walk into the store and see people enjoying playing with something you built on the table. Cheap as chips and you can keep your second one (the better ones) for your self.
@TerrainMadeEasy4 жыл бұрын
Sure, this is sort of generic desert building, you could do research and find a real place and just use the method. I keep all my stuff but I thik because my local store is pretty big with lots of terrain, if there was a tiny local one I maybe would :)

Could use this in 40K as Tallarn or Mars terrain (the latter painted more with red than pale sand), or in Age of Sigmar for battles in Aqshy, the realm of fire. (Or, for that matter, Shyish, the realm of death, by making it paler and grayer, like dwellings built on the ashen wastes and bone-dust deserts).

Absolutely, I think it's generic enough that you could make it into anything. You could easily make the door wooden for example.

@@TerrainMadeEasy I think Northern English in the UK is equivalent to our Southern Drawl in the US. Maybe? The Southern US has some huge cities, but is always looked at as being "country" by the US Northerners aka " Yankees". And the funny thing is the whole US is referred to as Yanks by Europeans. Haha. I think? Either way, great video!
@TerrainMadeEasy3 жыл бұрын
@@taco2947 Apparently the US southern accent is quite similar to a posh british accent in it's creation. The North West UK accent is sort of like the working class, down to earth accent, not stupid really (though many of us surely are heh). I think the country is too small to have many vast differences in personality, but the accent is not seen as posh or good! lol

Hi Jay, could you make a video on how to make a wargaming tabletop? There are a lot of videos on how to make the table, but they usually don’t describe how to add texture to the table, paint it and flock it. I’m looking to make my own Legion 3x3 table, and I could use some tips.
@TerrainMadeEasy5 жыл бұрын
Hey. It's unlikely I'd do a one piece board that size. What kind of boats you going for? For the ground it's either filler that you texture as you go, or pva and sand. For grass, often foam flock or static grass.
@kevinmoreira862 жыл бұрын
Did he use like a drywall compound as the filler? Because dap spackle for filling holes is pretty expensive. Drywall compound on the other hand you can get a whole box for 15 bucks
@norcalonline14 жыл бұрын
Nice work, Jay. Personally, I really like the offset door. Having the door in the middle could make it too matchy-matchy. I like your spackle/filler technique for making texture. Have you ever made buildings using the cellulose packaging material? I just made a Star Wars-esque building using that material. The channel, Stellarian Games, has a couple of cool videos on making SW buildings from the cellulose stuff. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, --Bo
@TerrainMadeEasy4 жыл бұрын
Is Celluose foam, xps foam? Extruded polystyrene? The answer is I have used that stuff a chunk, if not I have no idea!. I try not to have all my builds use it too often just as I know it can be hard to get, but it is good stuff. Thanks :)
@norcalonline14 жыл бұрын
@@TerrainMadeEasy Cellulose packaging material is not XPS or any kind of foam. It is like cardboard but formed into shapes to protect fragile electronics in shipping. It is bumpy and textured. I think they make it from cardboard pulp which is vacuum formed to match the shape of objects. The cool thing is it comes in really interesting shapes for crafting.

That's interesting. Here in the US I've seen advice to get foamboard from a dollar store since the low quality makes it easier to strip off the paper. It really couldn't be either cheaper or easier to find here. You kind of wonder who besides wargamers are popping into a dollar store and walking out with some chips and few sheets of foamboard.
