Complete ownage. :D Sadly that is precisely what makes this awesome so much less fun for repeat single player playthroughs. The A.I is just too easy to beat. DoK is far better as a multiplayer game in my opinion.

The problem with the AI is that fighting them is far too much of a binary experience. Either you get totally overwhelmed and fall further behind in a losing battle, or you utterly dominate them. It all depends on the first few engagements. But yeah, for this reason DoK multiplayer is far better. With the exception of the Campaign, of course. I just never get tired of it :)

I struggle at Coalition and Gaalsien, but put me in Soban and oooh boy. You're not getting close. And my Gunship + Railgun is on the way

I've watched a lot of these videos. I don't understand why you don't max out your carrier with weapons and range as soon as you can. The carrier is the most powerful unit in the game. You guys seem to spend resources on everything but the carrier. Second most important unit I would place Support Cruiser with Anti Air. Then Artillery Cruiser. I build only big ships and aircraft. You don't need to mess with (and lose) all the smaller craft. What am I missing?

If you try to just max your carrier right away you will immediately die. Big power carriers and cruisers are late game, which you won't live to see without early game units.
