#DDGComment What makes a remake/remaster better then the original version? For example if a game from your top 100 got a brand new remaster/remake what would it take to surpass the original in your eyes? I noticed this on your top 100 list that most of you did the original versions of games instead of the better versions as seen by most people. Examples like FFVI has many remakes and remasters, there is DQXI S and Persona 4G, Spyro Reignited, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, and Ocarina of Time 3D. I know why some of these you like more than their remasters/remakes but on the whole would a remaster/remake add that makes them better than the original versions? For instance, what makes P3P and P5R better than the originals but P4G falls short? When I made my top 100 list, I included the specific versions I played such as Chrono Trigger on the DS, Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, The World Ends With You Final Remix, and more. Most of the retro games I played were remastered or remade versions of the game and for some games like Final Fantasy VI I will probably won’t play the SNES original.

To be fair, it would be really, really funny. And then when they guess something completely off the wall for Jam after being whittled down by utter absurdity you get to go "nah she just owns a restaurant". It's great!

An important note about the anime tax dating sim: it's made by the same art collective behind other ethically-gray things (e.g. creating robot that forges handwriting so you can make your letter to your Congressperson look like a kid wrote it, creating a ghost "restaurant" on DoorDash so you can use employment perks to donate to political campaigns, giving out a bunch of credit cards with 1 shared bank account with funds added at random intervals, whatever the hell Zuckwatch is)... and the Big Red Boots. So it could be argued that it's more of an art piece than anything else. This also isn't their first video game; they previously released Chair Simulator and BTS in Battle (for Game Boy). #DDGComments Here's my question: You can bring back one game franchise, but because of the law of equivalent exchange, you must take a franchise of roughly equal popularity/quality at the time the first series died and retroactively erase any games past that point. What franchise do you sacrifice, and which do you revive?

Forgot to watch this one until after the next came out so I won't use the tag this time. I agree with Pyrr that FF8 is great. It's either my second or third favorite game in the series, depending on how I feel about XIII at any given time. Beautiful score, fantastic gameplay cutscene transitions, I love its cast and how stupid they can be sometimes, and the built in card game is super fun. Plus the worldbuilding is so fascinating to me and I don't care how much people bitch about it the way its organically given to the player as a reward for explaination. I really, really want to hear Pyrr's thoughts as he gets further into the game. While a stream of FFIX would be great, what about a stream of Slendytubbies? Pyrr, since you played Suikoden II, would it surprise you that a major villain in my book is based on Luca Bright? Because holy shit Luca Bright. You wouldn't include Cave Story because its outdated. I wouldn't include it because Nicalis stole the IP from its creator. We are not the same. Idle comments aside, my picks are - Pyrr's List: replaying Live-A-Live again (for a series of videos I want to make) or Rondo of Blood, Stadium 2 Rentals Only when it drops on Switch will go hard, I actually own Radiant Dawn but never beat it so I should do that, my brother has been lowkey pressuring me to play Mass Effect so probably that, and I'll give King of Cards a second shot so I'll know if I _actually_ don't like it or if I just found the transition from Mega Man to Mario 3 jarring. - Duke's List: 3 in Three sounds hilarious, you sold me on Majestic Chess, I've been wanting to get back into TF2 anyway, Stanley Parable (if the deluxe version counts) or Ori (if not), and I wish listed Signalis on Steam while listening but might get to Into the Breach first.

Some of mine are Smooth McGroove with his wonderful acapellas, PPF with his massive array of instruments and the ability to play all of them well, and DJTheS for his ability to weave songs together in ways I wouldn't expect. A few thoughts: -OG Angry Birds will be coming back and was delisted because it flopped (at least no one got layoffs) -I am glad Multiversus is shutting down so it can get polished more -My choice for the game i wish didn't become popular was PUBG. #DDGComment Do you think its fair to the player for modern games to be designed around a blind playthrough as the best way to experience them? Conversely, is it fair to the developer to expect their game's coolest parts stay cool even after time and popularity turn the spoilers into entry-level knowledge? The question came to me when Duke mentioned Xenoblade 1 after struggling to praise some of his top 100 games without spoiling them. It reminded me of how I'd grown up watching Chuggaaconroy's let's plays, and how I'd become a fan of both Xenoblade and his channel through his let's play of Xenoblade 1 for the Wii. Watching the episodes as they came out are memories I cherish deeply, but a sad truth was brought to light when I played Definitive Edition years later. I had experienced the entire game second-hand while I was too young to truly appreciate it, so while many fans lament being able to play it for the first time only once, I had essentially robbed myself of even that. I then thought about how, because of pop-culture, that'd also be the case for Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, etc. should I ever wish to engage with the works. I am punished as an audience member for not being able to experience something made to be popular before it became popular. I want to criticize that as a flaw, but I feel like I'd be demanding a compelling story with no twists. I want to hear your thoughts on this.

#DDGComments What would you consider your favorite ensemble cast in gaming? And, if you could, I'd appreciate it if you both gave 2 examples: 1 for an ensemble cast recurring throughout multiple titles (ex: Mario, Crash, Punch-Out, etc) and 1 for an ensemble cast that stays locked to a specific game (ex: Disco Elysium, the cast of any particular Final Fantasy, Fire Emblem, or Persona game, etc). I know that there's some weird gray area like with Zelda where most of the characters are unique to each game with only a few recurring faces but try your best. Side note: I couldn't imagine doing a top 100 games list right now because, after compiling a list of every game I've beaten or at least gotten to the final level on (or just played a significant amount of for multiplayer-focused games), I only came out to about 150 total and I don't think that's a large enough pool. You guys seem younger than me (I'm 31) and I genuinely don't understand how you have the time for so many games in your life 😂

I’ve always wanted to comment a question of mine, but I could never really think of a meaningful one, so I’ve been brainstorming for the past however-many episodes, curating a list of some questions that I think would be fun for you guys to answer. You don’t have to answer all of them, but it would be fun if you could answer a couple! 1. What are your (only positive) thoughts on the Yo-kai Watch franchise? I recommend that the both of you take a look at Yo-kai Watch 3 - it has a lot of the game design quirks that both of you seem to love. It’d also be funny if one of you looked up the Yo-kai Watch anime (mainly some of the weirder episodes) for one of your Bonus Stages - I feel it’d make for a hilarious segment. I personally love the anime for how it can be both weird, wacky, hilarious, and sometimes disturbing all at the same time - it’s a crazy fever dream at times. 2. Nintendo partners with Ubisoft again, but this time to create a Nintendo Just Dance. What songs would you want to put in? I’d want Jump Up Super Star from Super Mario Odyssey, Thrills at Night from Paper Mario the Origami King, and some Mario Kart tracks - the upbeat jazz vibes would be fun to dance to. Also a fun fact: a Yo-kai Watch Just Dance was released exclusively in Japan for the Wii U - just wanted to put that there. 3. What does the process of writing a video script look like? I’m interested to hear how the both of you are able to make really engaging and fun videos - it’s a skill that’s really hard to perfect and one that I definitely want to improve. 4. #DDGComments Sorry for the late comment (btw thank you for answering mine!), I’ve got a bit to say relating to the video. - For the top 100 challenge: Pyrr, I will do OMORI, it’s been in my Steam library for a while now, I’ve just been putting it off because of multiplayer shenanigans with my friends and 100%ing Pizza Tower. For Duke, I would have picked Persona 5 Royal but then that’s two RPGs and oh god that would be a nightmare. I’ll run through Hi-Fi Rush because it sounds absolutely fun. - Hearing Pyrr say Pizza Tower was the most satisfying thing in existence. To Pyrr, I hope you love the game, probably my favorite 2D platformer alongside Celeste. Duke, you should play it too. Just do it. - I’m cautiously optimistic about the MVS relaunch. Definitely think there was some corporate meddling for letting the beta run as long as it did in order to make money off of skins and battle passes (which, I’m admittedly guilty, having the Rock as Black Adam is top tier comedy). However with all of the underground leaks and rumblings this could lead to a great comeback and that’s what I’m hoping will happen. - The Lamb got married to Red from Angry Birds. Beautiful ceremony. Shovel Knight officiated it and Meat Boy was the flower guy. I will DM the art piece that lives rent free in my head to either of you if you’re open to that. - Admittedly hurt with the light mobile game slander. Biased because I grew up with a bunch of them but a majority I played were great in terms of quick puzzle solving or arcade fun with the endless runners and such. (Jetpack Joyride will alway be in my top 100 lol) - Golden Girls x Persona is so funny to me. I’m sure the confidants are gonna be top tier. Super endearing. - Oh boy this really got me thinking about my top 100 games, I’ve got some work to do. I know Super Mario Galaxy, Tomodachi Life, Jetpack Joyride, Pizza Tower, Mario Kart Wii, and Yakuza 0 will be there but then there’s 90+ to go oh boy. - I really liked the answers you had to my comment, like a dating sim would absolutely be hilarious. I wanna date Madeline and Cadence dammit! For Pyrr’s competitive platformer, oh my gosh I’ve been working on a roster for an indie platform fighter but I think I wanna shift directions for that genre that just sounds amazing! I already know we’re including Madeline, Peppino, Viridian and a Shovel Knight character. Always looking forward to the next Gaiden, have a good one!
