Imagine having a copy of blood will tell, with the manual and in perfect condition. Then imagine you let a friend borrow it and they accidently leave it on a bus. I was so angry I wasn't angry. It was a weird level of anger that a person shouldn't hit.
@dwaynejackson5512 ай бұрын
And on the part where you have to push the final boss back I just used a super move instead of trying to time my combos. At least that is how I remember doing it. It has been over 7 years since ai last played it.

This era of consoles/gaming just has a wondeful magic to it, the opposite of an uncanny valley to me. The textures are solid at this point and the hardware is finally allowing to get the screen filled with visuals. Most of these products feel like gestalt triumphs - where i just briefly look on screen and have this sensation of a depth behind this games that i frankly just dont get from any other period of gaming.

Renting Berserk Guts' Rage from a Blockbuster was my first exposure to Berserk. It was a cool fantasy action game. Controls were not even an issue at the time of release. There's a variety of moves to use, depending on your surroundings. Jump attack bypasses any sword-bouncing off of the walls issues.

One day many years ago, I was playing Rygar on the PS2. I was fighting that boss with the baby heads and it was kicking my ass. Then I started getting some good hits in. So I said "F U, F U, F U!" to the boss. I thought it was okay to say that because that's what John Cena's finisher was called. My friend that was watching me play said, "Yeah F U!". Then my mom came into the room and said, "What do you think you're saying?!". Then she screamed at me, made me turn off the game, and sent my friend home. I was 10 years old.

That Rygar remake was very good and David Jaffee said it in one video from Playstation underground that they were "inspired" in several games to make God of War, in Rygar, onimusha, devil may cry and some others, you can tell Mortal Kombat since Kratos look like Quan Chi, and of course Twisted Metal, Kratos look also like the bald guy from Twisted Metal 2, the look of Kratos and it´s design was very 90s and early 00s, lots of edge and finally became iconic, but yes Jaffee said it and you can see the influences totally

I have recently started recording content on real hardware again and must say, I missed my PS2 so much. There are so many obscure games on that console. I highly recommend Cold Winter, my favorite exclusive for the PS2 and a very violent James-Bond-esque inspired FPS. I managed to get JarekTheGaminDragon to review it, but wish I could show more this game!

Love that game. It's so ridiculous, but the combination of platforming with your character and battles with your mech, made you have an environmental awareness that most games ignore. And that English dub is legendary lol

I've played and finished Samurai 20XX, Swords of Destiny and Rygar, and I have to say that I did not understand diddly squat of their stories. Swords of Destinies for obvious localization problems. Samurai 20XX really got me scratching my head, thinking, "What the hell are they on about?" It probably helps that I'm not familiar with Kurosawa's movie. Rygar was also weird. A lot of the dialogue didn't make much sense to me. I can't remember what specifically, as I played it four years ago, but I remember that I was clueless through most of it.

I also thought that but that's because we already saw many (ir maybe all) the games he talks about separetly. For example I have the vivid memory of watching the Dororo and Sword of Destiny videos.
51:45 I vastly prefer old school slowdown like this to frame drops, I understand why it isn't a thing anymore but it's so much more visually tolerable and can sometimes enhance the action

@Jaknife1012 ай бұрын
He releases a compilation video containing all the action game reviews he's done semi-recently (plus also adding additional info or corrections that have come to light afterward). Hence why this is Vol. 3. These compilations also begin with his "PS2 greatest console ever" preamble as well, to keep them more cohesive as part of this massive series (there's so many more games still that he's [most likely] planning on covering, it's honestly kind of ludicrous lol)

Been playing a lot of PS2 action games recently, and only played Swords of Destiny last week. I had to abandon it because I value my time too much, but I did get really far into it. You go through all of my frustrations with the game. Sword Time is a cool idea implemented poorly. Blood Will Tell is amazing (I'm one of those people that got it for like £15 a few months before it rocketed up in price) I've started to notice a pattern with games from this era, I also finished Onimusha 2 last week... Cool game, dogshit final boss.
