I think making it to the World Series really blinded allot folks to how many runners were left on base this year. I remember that was an issue all year and even in the postseason. This team needs hitters that hit for average more than they do home runs.

we need a balanced lineup.. a few sluggers a couple speedsters and a lotta hittaz

I’d take a 27year old .300 avg.++, 200 hits, and a perennial batting title contender every year any day of the week. Fike these analytics clowns🤡 Strikeouts kill rallies and don’t tell me walks are the same as hits, hits put pressure on defences and move runners from station to station. Old time baseball where average mattered, stolen bases, fundamentals and defence over strictly WAR and OBP was way better. Exactly, Gallo, Dunn, etc. are not the same as guys that can actually hit the ball and put it in to play.

Chuck Knoblauch was a typical leadoff hitter we had. His defense was awful. But his hitting was clutch as can be. And he averaged 10 homers a season…ironically he had his highest average of homers while with the Yankees. But again he was brought here at the time for his steady left handed lead off hitting. So yes bring me Arraez.

We go all off season with run prevention in mind. We let Gleyb’s go for it just to bring back the same lackluster Defense and slow base running? Kind of contradicting, no?
@TRivera132 күн бұрын
Leadoff hitter with Bellinger and Judge behind him. He doesn't need to be a great baserunner if he's jogging. The defense at 2nd leaves a lot to be desired. But putting him at 3rd? Yanks could live with that.
@BigLouNYSportz2 күн бұрын
@ you say putting him at 3rd? Last year they were trying to hide him at 1B or DH in order to diminish or lessen the blow with his field play..Listen, he would be better than what we have now. So I’d be good with it. I’m simply saying that we can’t go in a direction and state that we would like to get more athletic and make the moves we have made (depicting run prevention) to contradict that with Arreaz was all I was saying
@TRivera132 күн бұрын
@BigLouNYSportz With their abundance of Shortstops the Padres didn't need to put Arraez anywhere but 1st. The Yanks still need another bat, and a bonafied leadoff hitter. Arraez fills both of those needs. I'm content with letting the kids in the system compete in Spring Training. But not convinced they would get a fair look from the Front Office unless one of them is scorching hot.
