Very intelligent approaches to your measurements, I am new to this science as well, but I would like to know how you impulse aligned your subs to each other in REW, I don't think you fully explained that part in this video, at least I didn't catch it. Thank you.

Thanks Phil. Basically, take a measurement of the left sub, with acoustic timing reference to the center channel. Click the impulse tab which probably says something like 15ms. Then measure the right sub and check the timing on that sub. It's not a huge deal, it's just something I do to get a baseline. Thank for watching Phil.

I have thoroughly enjoyed several of your videos. I just had a basic question with regard to MultEQ-X. Once a file has been imported to a speaker channel, how would I get rid of it. Zero it out. It seems like when I want to tweak an imported file, and I re-import, it adds on top of the original.

Hey Randy. You can just go into the app and press X on the import which completely removes the file.

+6 or +8 rise at 80hz to 30hz in my opinion.

@@hdmoviesource with 80hz being what volume? 75DB like speakers? Wouldn’t a reverse curve 30-80 bring more impact as movies don’t have as much content higher up

No, soundtracks have more impact going up in volume from 80hz to 30hz. I'm finding that 6 to 8db to be a perfect bass rise going from a completely flat subwoofer response Alfonzo.

I have 4 subs and am using mini dsp to calibrate them. I have used some of your methods to calibrate them to perfection. The issue is time alignment to the mains. When I check impulse response between the center channel and sub, the sub is as much as 20ms late or in distance 10 meters. It is more adjustment than can be done in the Denon receivers distance settings. I am using the atmos sweeps from OSD. I have used the impulse response in REW to time align the speakers to each other so I am familiar with how to adjust it. Any ideas?

What I did is fully calibrate the subs perfectly. Then get Audyssey to take measurements of the channels again. Now the subs are going through the MiniDSP and EQd the timing shouldn't change anymore. I did this with my subs and the delay went from 16 to around 21ms.nThisnmade the subs sound as though they have more kick. You could try that.

You can open the app and load your current file. If you're happy with your levels then go to calibration settings in the app and uncheck trim from auto to manual. The distances you want to change, so keep those on auto. Then go to measure and remeasure all of your speakers again with the app, then exclude the measurements, so your manual calibration will be used. After this, you should see that the subwoofer distances have changed, and are now updated for your new calibration Randy.

I disagree with your comments about Christopher Nolan movies. Nolan movies sound bass heavy because he deliberately reduces center channel and dialogue to the point where dialogue is often unintelligible. To the point people walked out of cinemas in pure disgust because they could not hear what the actors was saying in Oppenheimer.

Well, he doesn't deliberately reduce the center channel. It's the way he records his dialog. I personally have no issues with dialog once my center channel is EQ'd properly. I'd like to hear Oppenheimer on my system when it comes out on 4K soon.
