Instead of chests, you can use backpacks next to the schematic cannon. The backpacks can store quite a bit more than chests.

For the schematicannon. You can insert the items in an item vault, the cannon can extract from the multiblock. Also, I have it in my world set to 1 block per tick and it's not laggy at all, so you can probably do it with no problems!

So, for the next time you need to use the cannons, i believe they can draw from storage draw controllers and slaves, and also the create vaults. So you don't need to always surround them in chests for massive builds.

Hey, this is just a idea but once your down with this series you should make a copy of the world and then make it into a role play like SMP or server for friends and etc where you and the server members could make videos and movies and whatever else, like make passenger planes, shops, power lines for voice chat phones, and maybe other VERY distant colonies etc. this is just an idea but if you’ve read this thanks! I binged-watched the series recently, so I'm pretty sure that the tunnel-boring machine was spelt Boreis or Bore-is (I can't remember which). Also, you should make a underground metro system using Bore-is, and maybe make trains that fit the tunnels in a way like the Tube in London (Tho without the noise, old trains and scratched windows lol)

Try a mod called Expanded Storage. They have chests that can hold massive amounts of items. Chests and barrels it even has lag friendly variants. One of my absolute favorites.
