Then when the US got Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and made DBZ Kai, the French dub for Kai decided to call him "Piccolo" again, or "Ma junior". All characters whose name starts with "son" were called "san" because in French it's kind of hard, especially for kids, to say "son goku". "Sangoku" was easier. Became Son again in GT And Frieza is Freezer
