Agreed it feels more like the tar is an accessorie then actual tar. I liked the story about the Pokémon being stuck in tar and sorta can't move but here they look free and can run. To me I feel it really plays down the whole stuck in tar thing but then again he might have just wanted to scrap the idea all together. I'm not sure but yeah I still looks good tho

Agreed, and my first thought upon seeing the initial sketching was a flowing 'cape' made of tar that's stuck to the ground and pooling around the heels. Would also help the bottom half of the design feel less empty, and bring more tar back into the design.

I also feel this way a bit. I feel as though too much of the tar was removed in this redesign, and I'm not quite sure how to feel about the pink stomach, but I do like the powerful pose and the new tusks!

I agree with most of the other commenters, Elegoop is adorable, but Tartusk oughta be just a bit goopier. Maybe have it’s lower half look dirty, as if it had waded its way out of tar, while still having defined legs? Could lead into a fun visual gag of its feet sticking to the floor with every step it takes, justifying a below average speed stat.

I actually really liked the original elegoop design, especially because of the way it looks like it's trying to pull itself free of the tar. That aspect of its design has taken a significant backseat in this new version. I still think the new versions look better, I'm just not overly fond of the poses. [edit for typos]

Yeah, honestly OG Tartusk had a more interesting silhouette & personality, I really liked the concept of the bottom half being a big glop of tar. The new Elegoop is definitely a strict upgrade tho, I love the personality of the new design

I do think the aspear berries are a bit awkwardly placed on vanillin’s but I REALLY love the concept of a brain freezing vanillite. I also wonder if there is another restored from the tar in the mazah region

I love the new elegoop, but I think the new tarrtusk doesn't have enough goop now (and a weird cave man bone. I liked the way it looked like was rising out of it's goop. I think what you're searching for is a happy combination of the original and the new design. Goopiness with a more refined body shape. (And yes I kept saying goop on purpose.... GOOP!). You're mega flygon and regional vannilice are just wonderful though. Thank you for always providing quality work

I agree. Pretty much my first instant reaction was… ‘why just brown on the legs and not tar’ would have rounded out the colours more evenly and made for some extra room to add bloby details and drips. Didn’t need to go the full Muk route like the original. But a sort of hippo standing up from the mud pool half covered kinda look would have been cooler to me. Still a glow up either way though.

Honestly, I kinda liked Tartusk just being one with the tar on it's lower-half. This also comes from the fact that I'm not the biggest fan of quad-pedal species becoming bipedal that much still, but there was something of it being part of the goop that felt interesting about it. Am a fan of the new Elegoop and Mega Flygon look though.

I think Tartusk may need some more tar elements in its design, some eyes as well. I liked the weird balding head it had before, it had a lot of character as its something we haven't seen before.

I think I agree with most of the people in the comments, the Tartusk design feels a bit empty without any tar on the lower half. If you want to keep the idea of it being visibly bipedal, maybe you could have just one leg stuck in tar? I’m also personally not that big of a fan of the caveman bone That aside, the other designs are stellar! Vanillite is great (although its middle form looks a bit awkward,) I was surprised it wasn’t Ice/Grass but you sold me on the typing with the final form. Mega Flygon is just perfect, especially the visor goggles

I liked Elegoop's first design, it was cuter but also held its head high to elude to it drowning and trying to keep its head above the mud. But I also really like its redesign! It looks more lively and, like you said, is full of personality! And the trunk looks like a snorkel! :)) Its evolution needs to grow on me more, I think. I liked the more... goopier elements that i feel got lost in the redesign. Though I know why you did it, the emptiness of it didn't really bother me that much. But why did you make its tusks so curved? I get the feeling of them being wobbly, which is not the intended effect, I think.

Mega Flygon 2 definitely looks a lot more like how I'd imagine a canonical mega evolution would look for that pokemon, it's really got me excited about potentially having it on a team for a Mazah region game! You've really done the idea justice, the new wings were a really good design choice

Or a pufferfish that loses it's poison when it evolves and becomes a fairy type I also saw someone say a phone pokemon that becomes more modern. If he does the phone I'm hoping for a Nokia Or something that trades it's size for more power. Like A lich becoming a Demi-Lich, or a fighter becoming an all powerful psychic

I always thought a variant of the vanillite line could be like a snowcone, where you can use "syrups" (an item) to give them a secondary typing that fits with the flavor (Fireball=Fire, Spearmint=Grass, etc.)

I had a team in my Pokémon shield play through that had appletun and vanilluxe. I love both Pokémon and I name them Ala and Moad. I’m glad to see someone else who appreciates the two. Edit: this form would be perfect for the competitive version of the two, as I used vanilluxe as a support in that

I very much like the new Tartusk in many ways and Ellegoop's as well (Although I miss it's cute lil eyes) although I really do miss it's sludge-like lower torso without the legs, in my opinion it made the design more interesting and unique rather than a common anthro route or a quadruped, rather than the bone on the head which I'm not the biggest fan of I think it'd be interesting to have bones maybe sticking out of the tar bottom half to make it less visually boring. Still though I doubt you'll do many, if any, 3rd re-designs which is totally understandable and these designs still work well on their own. I just tend to get attached to the ol' designs.

I also dislike the bone on the head. It just doesn't have much reason for being there. I think a happy medium between a featureless tar blob and an almost-tarless Tartusk would be to let him keep the visible legs, but give him a 'train' of tar gluing him to the ground, like he has some kind of long cape or cloak dragging along behind him and slowing him down, but also protecting him from attacks.

I think I prefer the old Elegoop and Tartusk designs, their pose and "stuck" features really added to their charm. I especially liked Tartusk's body being half goo, it was unique and fit well with the incomplete fossil resurrection theme. Now the designs look too much like older elephant Pokemon (Phanpy, Donphan).

I love how your regional variants always have a creative reasons for their physical adaptations! I find that many fan regional variants just try to make a cooler, different-typed version of the og Pokemon and forget that the pokemon is ADAPTING to a different environment.

Honestly I prefer the previous Elegoop and Tartusk designs. Before the redesign, Elegoop was very unique in my opinion, but now it appears to be a phanpy / donphan regional variant. As for Tartusk, I like the swalot-style bottom half being a legless sludge, and am hesitant to accept any more bipedal animals as pokemon, since "making a normal quadruped stand on two legs" seems to be a running and tired theme for the less inspiring pokemon designs in the past few generations. This is all extremely in my very biased opinion btw, and I don't hate the redesigns, I just like the former designs better. Also, I love the Mega Flygon Redesign! I don't think it needs the wing tassels, and I think the pincer/spikes around its mouth could be more exaggerated, but I love the design regardless.

I really love these new regional forms! I would change a few things, though: make them Ice- and Grass-type so they can sprout new berries from their bodies instead of just making them appear out of nowhere, and change the Aspear berry placement, specifically on Vanillish since it looks like, you know... nipples. I'd suggest placing it on top of its head along with the Persim berry. Mega Flygon looks AWESOME and it's definitely something I'd use on my team.

I feel like there's even a little bit of storytelling in the design of the new Elegoop and Tartusk designs, with their heads mostly being obscured with tar and their trunks being held up, it makes it feel like they were preserved after falling head first into the tar, and the trunks being held up was some form of last ditch attempt to breathe before drowning. On top of that, there's also the whole 'mystery' of their faces being obscured, conveying that 'We don't really know what they looked like before they fell into the tar' backstory

I really like the new mega flygon, but dragon-ground is one of my favorite type combos, and I think it would be better to just give it a bug move boosting ability. But this is about the design, and it looks awesome!

The vanilite regional form is based on a raspado, so instead of being on a cone it should be on a plastic cup that is usually served in. And the syrup on the top of the head should be of green, blue, red and yellow that are the syrups that are served in

As always, amazing fakemons designs, I love the idea of ​​Vanilluxe being the counterpart of Chansey or Audino in pokemon centers, and I love the Redisign of Eloop and Tartusk.

I think all three sets had great aspects. That being said, personally have comments on developments in each line: 1. Personally, I think the cones are missing something in the vanillite line. I don’t know if it’s the shade of pink or perhaps it’s just the white background but I find them somewhat underwhelming. 2. The wings on Mega Flygon are awesome and the visor is a great concept however the new eyes make it seem as though the Pokémon has completely changed species, moving from an insect to a lizard. It almost looks like a cross between Meganium and Flygon. Perhaps removing the eyes all together and making the visor a bit more opaque or making the visor one big eye could keep the visor while maintaining the characteristic insect lens-eye? I don’t know. 3. I agree with rest of the comments. The upper half of Tartusk is great and makes it look more interesting. I do miss however the appearance that the mammoth is trapped in the tar as was depicted in the original version. As always, great artwork and I look forward to seeing more! Thank you

I really enjoyed these designs! Mega flagon as a paragon of speed is so much more… Mega than the strict kaiju version. I’m glad you took the time to reassess that design, and Vanilite's line is wonderful. Adding colors and flavor with every evolution is a perfect parallel to the increasing serving size of its American counterpart. However, I thought you missed the mark a little bit with Elegoop and Tarrtusk. I’ll start with the latter. I like the thought of adding bone to the design, but what you have here is odd. If most of the body has been replaced with tar, why not go for a body that’s more skeletal? It could give you something interesting to do with the bottom (and help avoid the pink band on its mid, which reads as fleshy), while allowing you to pile more tar on top of the body. As a rock/poison type with a pretty unique backstory, centering the design on tar and bone would really help it stand out. As for Elegoop, you could make it read as more bony, but really all I want to see is some goop coming out of that trunk! Again, thanks for the inspiring designs and the time you take on fleshing these ideas out!

Yeah, the Mammoth line definitly needed a redo. I’m kind of imagining that Tartusk is able to quadruped, using it’s longer forearms. The topknot and longer tusks draw the eye and the lack of fur on the belly is a nice touch, as animals frozen in permafrost tend to lose their fur.

I think Elegoop's the first redesign where I prefer the original. The personality felt different (there was a sort of defiant "resisting till the end" thing with the original) and the new one's got that "excited puppy" energy which we weren't really short on.

I agree, the old tartusk worked a lot better for conveying the concept. I really like both elegoop designs and feel either could shine. The new one looks like a really fun little dude, but I like the melancholy to the old one - there aren't many sad pokemon, and there is room for some more.

I feel that tartusk could have been a mamoswine regional variant, and it even makes sense historically. Some IRL Mammoths were preserved in frozen ice while other mammoths in warmer regions were preserved in tar.

I feel like vanillite has a lot of missed potential imo: what if there was a form for every berry? I don’t think drawing everyone would be necessary but the implication could be that they would have this one berry in that form and could hold another item? Mechanically, I think it would be cool

I've been watching since day 1, you've improved so much and the designs are so loveable. If you are still adding megas for the mazah region, I suggest Atelanger because you can make it a spider monkey with normal Bug typing (prob for fishing banan)

I love how you acknowledged the shortcomings but didn't make any compromises with your early vision for the design! ellegoop is a good change since it didnt feel at posiony but even though the large tar basin on tartusk was a problem completely changing that and turning it into a pink belly makes it look like a normal type to me but great job and im a huge fan

I really enjoyed Tartusks older look because it reminded me of Muk and Grimed giving me that same sense of sludgy poison. It’s not bad at current stance. I would even say it’s kinda standard. I feel like pushing the design onto 4 legs, and having the tar create it’s own hands along the backside of the mammoth would be a cool concept that still shakes things up from the typical Pokémon must stand on two feet concept

I love the designs, but the redesign of tartusk to me feels like there's a third evolutionary stage missing. I know it's a strange commentto make, especially considering the fossilized nature. Possibly could use a branched evolution.

I love that the aspear berries on vanillish give it an upside-down sad face. Probably not intentional, but very fun!

As a huge ghost type fanatic, I've been thinking about some excuse to add another ghost to the Mazah region. My thinking is that, given the predator and prey dynamic featured in the Mazah region, there ought to be a ghost type pokemon representing a species of pokemon that went totally extinct before they knew how to deal with predators. How about a ghost type goat? It could have a direct relation to the chupacabra based pokemon we made earlier in the dex, perhaps somewhat similar to Zangoose and Seviper's relationship. I think it would be a fun addition to the region and one that reinforces the theme of predator-prey relationships, I hope you'll consider it!

Mega Flygon 2.0 is brilliant. My favourite design in ages. Also Vanillish's berries might need a slight tweak haha. Vanillite and Vanillux look so good!

The new poses make the tar pokemon feel a lot more alive than they did, big fan. I might just be me, but I think elegoop's nose is almost a bit too realistic and could be more charming for a pre evo if it was more simple, like swinub.

I think Tartusk needs a big ass cape made of tar that flows onto the ground behind him. He just has that kind of warlock looking presence, like ganondorf nearly. I could see the the team leader of the evil team of the Mazah region having this guy in his party. It also helps that he's a poison type and the evil teams really love their poison pokemon for some reason. Anyway, should also say I love all of these designs, I was never really into the ice cream guys but I think you've actually improved on them by bringing in neat backstory using both the berries and showing that they actually want to be eaten lol

The shaved ice idea for the vanillite was great! I think a more drastic shape change would fit the region more. The unovan one is based on the ice cream trucks in New York City, which is why vanilluxe has 2 heads in the same wide cone.

I love the clip of the water monitor climbing the shelves! It is just so funny. I agree that the Vannilite line is good, and the resdesign of Mega Flygon was needed and was great, but by golly my favorite was Tartusk's redesign! I did like the gooey bottom but seeing the legs and belly properly does help the design a lot more than I was expecting. Really would want one on my team for sure!

I looove the vanilite line so much! They look so cute and happy! They almost remind me a bit of Comfey a bit and their typing I feel could also match the fairy typing considering their nurturing nature. Anyway super cool and great job!

I adore the Vanillite line! I admit I wasn't particularly interested in them when they came out, but Alcremie turned me around on food pokemon, so I love seeing these colourful ice cones

Mega Flygon's wings, the long tail-like part in particular, makes it look somehow related to Maripome. They are still very distinct designs of course, but I feel like if I would see them next to each other, for example in a double battle, I would wonder if they were meant to resemble one another. Also the stats might not be new, but Elegoop with Eviolite would be a MONSTER. :O

I absolutely LOVE your variant concepts for the Vanillite line and am super glad KZbin recommended me this video. With Vanillite being my all-time favourite Pokémon (and I agree that Vanillite is super unappreciated, and definitely dunked on and memed too much) I always love seeing others' adaptations or variants of Vanillite. The look of the Vanilluxe is surprisingly the best. The "overcrowdedness" of the berries actually fits in well with berries commonly being mixed into frozen treats, then the singular berry on top of the Vanillite sort of resembles a "cherry-on-top". The design overall reminds me more of sorbet rather than shaved ice, which personally seems to fit more to the sweet and fruity flavour, but either way is still great. Unfortunately, as most Vanillite line variants tend to, they lose their arms. Especially unfortunate for this variation in that it gives people the berries to cure brainfreezes, but it can't "hand" it to them (though the image of a Vanillite handing someone a berry with it's little stub arms is just adorable). The berries sticking out the side of it's later evolution more than makes up for this. Definitely a top-tier Vanillite line variation concept, and I'll be sure to check out your other videos if your designs look this great!

The new Elegoop (and especially its shiny) is delightful! It looks like strawberry and vanilla icecream with cherries! and making a poison type (albeit it's just its shiny) look like a dessert is pretty macabre but clever and fun!
