For Cetoekko, I feel like the single bubble isn’t really conveying the moody teen enough so I think it would be better to use two bubbles that act as pair of headphones as a way to block out the voices of others rather than focusing on actively communicating with them. The only one I still have a critique on would be the final evolution, although it's minor. I would suggest turning the handle of the pot 90 degrees inwards so that Gastronaut can actually properly grab the handle to aim, currently it's angled in such a way that i don't think Gastronaut can actually reach it. I also feel like the yellow that is in the second form should be preserved in the final evolution, right now it looks like the second form's pottery has kintsugi applied to it. Which is an old japanese way to repair pottery by mending the broken parts together with gold. Indirectly this gives off the vibe that the second form has gone through battles and went out of its way to repair it/get it repaired. This theme isn't very visible in the final form which is a shame because the first form is naturally shy and wouldn't communicate, while the second form would be coming out of its shell literally and figuratively. He becomes more confident, but also had to communicate with people/other pokemon to get his pot repaired because he couldn't do it himself, showing some character growth.

For the Water starter trio: Porsite -I think this one definitely does resemble a shark too much, and using some of the bottlenose aspect from its evolution, as well as more of a curved sickle shape fin would help distinguish it as a cetacean. Cettoekko -this is definitely the critical evolution stepping stone between dolphin to either baleen whale, or one of the other ideas for bubbaleen I suggested below. Making it less streamlined does fit the baleen style, but it would need to be a bit more athletic looking in order to fit with my ideas for Bubbaleen Bubballeen -I think the jump from social dolphin to baleen whale was not led up to very well, and I think it is a mistake with the other options available. I think an Orca is a much stronger choice that utilizes the sociability and voracious hunter aspects you mentioned. They are extremely intelligent have creative hunting strategies that could make great use of makeshift bubble weaponry or arms -another option I also think fits better than a filter feeder would be a sperm whale. They are still sociable as they live in pods, and the idea of a sperm whale relying on its psychic echolocation using its bubble creations to fight epic battles with giant squid in the deep abyss sounds incredible. -finally, if you are going to stick with the baleen, I think incorporating the humpback behavior of bubble nets during hunting is a must. Humpbacks use their blowholes and blow columns of tiny bubbles to herd schools of fish, they even encircle them in cylindrical bubble nets to round them up before gulping them down. Seems like a perfect fit for what you’ve already drawn. Would love to hear other’s thoughts on these!
@BleachBasket1084 жыл бұрын
I totally agree about the dolphin morphing into a whale line - the design should stick with just one since would be much more cohesive (I really like your orca idea, especially since they're technically the largest dolphin species and not actually whales). Also agree about porsite - the head looks a bit too shark like (the rest reads well as a mammal tho). I also wish it was slightly cuter - I think a petulant child like look would read well with poor communication too. No one is harder to communicate with than a little kid who doesn't what to listen

Water Starter Ideas: Most importantly, *BLUE* , particularly for Porsite. I know you played around with blues in the original video, but I think when it comes to the first stage starter Pokémon, vibrant colours associated with their types are necessary - not a single first-stage starter has lacked a prominent area of green, orange or blue (for grass, fire and water respectively) on their design across all 8 gens. I saw this a lot on the comments of the first video but *Porsite should really look less angry* - like with adding another eye for Molucotta, *making them more friendly and appealing is important* , even if miscommunication is the theme. Lastly, I think *Bubbaleen needs more in its design to differentiate it from a real-life whale* . Currently, if you remove the bubbles from its design, it's just a cartoon Humpback/Baleen Whale, so I think you could *carry some of the psychic patterns onto its body*, or *exaggerate the shapes of its fins and tail* so that it looks more fantastical.

I really like how these guys turned out, I really like the concept of a theme across all three starters, it really does help strengthen the designs. Just to help, here’s just a couple of my ideas for the water starter. I do like the concept of a whale using bubbles to communicate, but I think that idea can be strengthened if you change the final form from a Baleen Whale to a Sperm Whale. It would help the communication concept but also give some variety as Wailord and Walimer are already Baleen whales While most species of whales bubbles to corral schools a fish into being eaten, the Sperm Whale uses a different tactic. Sperm Whales’ heads are shaped the way as it allows its clicks and sounds to be as loud as possible. Think of it as a Stereo System attached to its head. This makes its sounds so loud that is can be hear for thousands of miles alway and upclose they use it to stun their prey (namely Giant Squid) (I’d also suggest looking into their biology more if you want to go with this route) As for what to do with the design itself, I like the bubble idea, but without the bubbles, it’s just a happy looking whale. Perhaps with the new head space you could add a clear dome on its head where it blast bubbles out of or something to insinuate a large brain emphasizing its intelligence. I do like the first two stages, but the first form looks too much like a Shark to me, it’s how pointed the head is. And the middle stage works, though it’s interesting to see an angry dolphin. Just as an idea to throw out, maybe having the first form be a Dolphin then to a Killer Whale and then to a Sperm Whale could be a better progression. It does make sense size while, but all three are predatory Cetaceans and having a happy dolphin for a starter would work great in my opinion. And as it evolves it gets more reserved and maybe a bit grumpy looking. But that’s just my two cents. I really like this series and I hope you keep doing what you’re doing my dude. :D

I enjoy this second edition of the grass starter - seems more like a Grass Starter. Ways to improve in my opinion, draw inspiration from the Terracotta Soldiers and other forms of pottery. Give the pottery an armor like texture, something simple like the actual warriors. I like the coloration with the orange-hue as it is more true to 210 BCE era of Chinese pottery with the use of lead glazing and copper to produce green (the actual skin of the Pokemon) and lead glazing with iron to produce the more brown/orange color. I would really just try to put a lacquered black swirl on the hand pot to produce more of a cannon feel.

maybe you could do something where the bubbles = "vocabulary" in the concept, so the water starter's attitude towards its bubbles is a metaphor for its difficulty communicating? like the first form has one big bubble (similar to how babies only have one method of communication: crying), while the final form has smaller bubbles freely streaming out of its blowhole. it can also convey scale by the bubbles progressively getting smaller in comparison to the pokemon. :) perhaps the swarms of bubbles can still be controlled to make arms, cause i would love a sign language pokemon!

For the water starter I had the idea that the bubbles on it uses to communicate grow larger and larger as it evolves OR it gaining more bubbles as it evolves, sure it was slightly like that in the original but if you emphasize that part a bit more, it could evoke the sense that the bubbles are symbolic of different forms of communication and the "older" the Pokemon gets the more it grasps and understands those concepts. Also, it could really help communicate to the viewer the Pokemon's theme of language barriers if you can make them look slightly more foreign or exotic, not as much as the grass line of course but maybe somewhat like Cufant and Copperajah where you can get the sense that they're from a different place.

As the water type is extremely smart mabye make its last form have a foam beard like a old wise man. You could also make his bubble armor cover the full extent of him as well as adding more scribing on the bubble to show its intelligence.

Here’s an idea you could pursue as a secondary theme throughout: Armor. I noticed both the Grass and Water starter lines incorporate some sort of “armor”, with the Grass line wearing pottery as literal armor, and the Water line using Bubbles as a sort of armor (even hands in the final form). It could make sense to pursue such a theme to unify them further, and seeing what you’d come up with for the Fire line would be cool!

Oh, I would make it lightning armor. Quetzalcoatl had a pretty large association with storms, and the big storm type has been Electric previously. I also think that phrase “head, shoulders, knees and toes” could be fun to play with: Shoulders are quite define for the grass type, Head bubble wrapping around the water, and perhaps even forgoing knees and toes from the fire type design and embracing the serpentine nature.

For the water starter line, I remember that in the previous part someone mentioned that you could give it a musical theme, which I think is a great idea and would set this line apart from other fan-made dolphin-based Pokémon. Maybe in the beginning, its music could be bizarre and incomprehensible, which would fit with the communication barrier theme for your starters, but when it evolves into Bubbaleen, its music could finally become clear and understandable. Here are the changes I'd make to each of the Pokémon individually: -Porsite: As much as I like it, I think its face looks too evil to be that of a starter. Starters are supposed to be cute and friendly-looking, so maybe you could make Porsite look more cutesy by giving it bigger eyes, a friendly-looking smile and maybe a rounder and more chonky body shape. Also, maybe you could put its bubble on the top of its head, so that way it could look like it has a third eye of sorts. -Cettoekko: As Master-of-Dreams said, I think placing its bubbles on the sides of its head to make it look like its wearing headphones would be a great idea. This, along with maybe putting a fin on its head resembling some sort of mohawk, would definitely make it look more like a moody teen. -Bubbaleen: I think Bubbaleen could look like some sort of conductor/opera singer, maybe make it stand upright and give a tuxedo-like pattern on its belly. Also, if you decide to make it look like an opera singer, maybe you could pull inspiration from the basking shark, so that way it could look like its always singing. I'm not sure of what to change about its bubbles, though, I think they look fine as they are in the original design.

I feel like the first form of the water type certainly feels to much like a shark, excluding the porpoise-like colors. I also feel as though the language barrier is not clearly presented in all of the forms, as they all have facial expressions that are so closely related to human that it feels like they lack any language barrier. For the first form, while I like the pose, as it is reminiscent of Mew, a very old and knowledgeable pokémon, I feel like the sharp teeth should be removed from this form, due to the fact that, as a starter, it lacks the approachability that all starters share (Chimchar is a feisty fire-type, but doesn't appear too unfriendly). For the second form, I like the concept of an angsty teen phase brought about by a lack of understanding and a lack of knowledge required to fix this issue. As such, I feel like you could make the bubble surround it's form entirely, given it a look of jaded seclusion that was brought on by poor communication. Finally, for the final form, I like the idea of increasing the number of the bubbles, but I feel like rather than being used as a pseudo-armor, you could instead have one large, densely inscribed bubble floating over his head, and some smaller bubbles, each inscribed with a different symbol present on the main bubble, floating around it's body. This would push the theme of psychic ability by showing that it can manipulate it's surroundings up too a wider range and it would provide a more imaginative explanation for how the it creates it's own tools to help people and pokémon. Also, I forgot to mention that the symbols on the bubble could represent each word it has learned, giving it a way to breach the language barrier by forming a broken, yet still comprehensive, sentence by popping the correct ones (this could also provide inspiration for some cool moves if you feel like it).

I really like these designs, you’ve outdone yourself. One fun little idea regarding the eyestalks is that they could have a through line of surveying the surroundings in each form. Mollucotta could keep the one eye concept when it withdraws in its pot by having one peek out to see if the coast is clear, Expursum could be constantly swiveling its stalks around to accentuate its natural curiosity, while Gastronaut can have its stalks in by default to protect them, then have them tactically extend from the ports in its helmet to survey its immediate surroundings. Again, love the designs, I just love to think of the personality that would come through in animation!

Here are the signature moves I thought of: The grass starter’s move is Glob Shot The fire starter’s move is Flaming Feathers The water starter’s is Bubble Bomb
@tristanescure73844 жыл бұрын
Here is an idea for the water starter : emojis ! Their bubbles could have paterns that look like faces on them, take the shape of hearts when they are happy or gain spikes when they are angry. It would be their way of communicating. Their eyes could also change accordingly. So rather than telepathic sounds, the bubbles would contain a melody that make you feel certain emotions. I think it would be a great visual representation of the concept of communicating with bubbles. For the first one, you could make it with only one bubble at a time. They would be colorful, one-dimensional and cartoony : happy 😁, angry 😡, laughing 🤣, shoked 😱, mischievous 😈, etc... But maybe it takes a lot of effort to make one bubble so it's hard for them to communicate an elaborate message. They are quite popular because they are easy to understand but it can also be hard for them to express themselves fully. For the second stage, I think you could turn the teenager up to 11. Maybe show it isolating itself with a big bubble around it's head. It's emotional range also becomes wider : sad 😢, confused 🤨, done 😤, inquisitive 🧐, whatever this one is 😊, etc... Maybe now it can make multiple bubbles at a time, in chains or a big one with little buds of different colors/shapes. It's more nuanced and thus harder to understand which leads to many trainers giving up on the communication or interpreting messages as if they were still as simple as before. The final stage would have mastered the bubble languague, being able to creat streams of bubbles each with it's own meaning. They could also form larger shapes or compose messages by associating symbols. It incorporates images that aren't directly linked to an emotion but help describe a situation : danger 💀, good job 👍, new idea 💡, stop 🚫, etc... It can be a bit busy at times but if you're willing to meet the pokemon half way, it leads to great conversations. Arms made of bubbles could gesture along to get the point across. Hope this is helpful ! Seeing how well the Grass line went, I can't wait to see the other two.

I really like the first two forms, the improvements you made make it incredibly charming and a pokemon I would absolutely pick right away (and I'm almost exclusively a water starter purist). However I don't like Gastronaut still. I think that the problem with it is that it feels disjointed all around. The concept is fun but I think that the incorporation of the nautilus visual theme comes too late; it doesn't feel like a natural progression because you're shifting species entirely, leaving the color scheme and armor motifs to hold up the connection to its former evolutions. I would suggest either incorporating it more early on or returning to the eye stalk snail-alien theme instead. Personally the latter is more interesting to me just because the nautilus feels derivative but either way could work well tbh. Additionally, I think the way the communication narrative/theme is integrated into Gastronaut is weird and kind of sad? If the theme is communication and for this starter specifically the idea of ostracization, why is the final dex entry basically "Despite its efforts to be a hero that prioritizes doing the right thing over acceptance, it ends up a jaded and distant warrior that is never truly accepted and only further outcast"? I don't understand why the narrative essentially tells us that society failed to except it. Wouldn't a stronger narrative be "people and pokemon realize that its work as a protector as Expurzums were coming from a good heart, and that they were wrong for judging so quickly, and now embrace Gastronaut as protectors and friends of local communities"? Describing it as being scorned by those who never gave it a second chance feels regressive of the idea of communication; there was a failure in communication, and nothing was learned. It's only become more distant from everyone, and isn't understood or accepted in any way. I feel that a stronger use of this theme (throughout all three starters) would be emphasizing that there are multiple ways to communicate, and that both "sides" have to work at it to achieve harmony; something that is actually striking right into the core of the Pokemon franchise as a whole. In this case, it goes from a timid recluse to a fighter trying to be a protector and hero but is still misunderstood, to a pokemon that people realize they misunderstood and apologize & give thanks to, welcoming it into their community. Finally, just a note thinking about your water starters. I think a good way to incorporate this theme of communication (and work towards mutual understanding) for them would be something like "It struggled to communicate because it can't speak human languages, but is eventually able to find a way to work with humans in a different nonverbal way and work alongside the best of professors and researchers, or with children/people struggling with similar communication impairments". As for the fire line, I think conceptually it's the easiest to work this theme into: "It learns to let its ego go and find trust in the special partners it makes and work with them in return for devotion and praise, making it a Pokemon that's difficult to bond with but will become a friend for life and a staunch protector of its team and trainer". There are a lot of wonderful visual ideas going on in your art + very interesting concepts that make them feel more three dimensional and living in the Pokemon world, and I think your designs can only improve from here!

You know I really love your designs but I have a few thoughts. Firstly I definitely think that the one eye for the first evo was cooler and works thematically, if the Pokémon is to feel alienated then it should be more closed off. To fix this I think changing the helmet of the first evo to be more closed off and then revealing a face in the second since this is when the Pokémon feels more open. (Then again I’m no artist...) Finally, I know that the water type is next but I think you should reconsider the fire type’s design. My reason for saying this is because of the Chinese zodiac and while the design does fit the description of a snake, I feel the final evo deviates from that slightly. An idea to fix this is emphasise the snake aspects and make the wings smaller and more ornate, perhaps adorn more jewellery along the body as if it were an emperor. Anyways those are my thoughts. Keep up the fantastic work

The first evolution of this water line seems slightly off compared to the others, it keeps the same eye color but a lighter body which makes it look albino. That’s not a bad thing. You could lean into that for the whole line, but if not it feels out of place. It also doesn’t have that starter feel. It uses a lot of pointy aggressive shapes you don’t often see in starters, and even has angry eyebrows. None of this line really feels emotive enough to be starters. Instead of just trying to convey anger, you can also convey frustration because it isn’t able to communicate, but the first evolution should be more friendly, like a baby that can’t quite get a hang of language yet and all the symbols on the bubble are a little less uniform and almost more like pictures than language. ALSO THE MOST IMPORTANT THING HERE water starters all have one thing in common. They are all creatures that can thrive on both water AND land, they’re amphibious. They can stand but they can swim. This line cannot, especially looking at the final evolution, he looks like one of the Pokémon that would be floating above the battlefield in game. It wouldn’t be a Pokémon anyone in the anime could use because Pokémon don’t float like that in the anime, and that’s a problem because every starter is always used in the anime even if it isn’t owned by ash. It needs to be more mobile.

I really love this line! So amazing! I personally like your original 1st stage more. Maybe the mouth being visible is just a little too foreign for me since the other stages you never see it and his first stage is supposedly the most shy. Maybe the mouth could just be scrapped and the hole smaller for just his eyes to seep through. I love your second two stages! Middle stage my favorite. For the last stage the only thing hindering it for me is its kinda crowded legs. I'd have went with maybe only two or two and a tail that is essentially a leg when he positions himself right (think of a tripod that helps him aim and also fits because some alien ships have been imagined to have a tripod for landing). His hidden ability could be mega launcher and they could upgrade it to be able to use Energy Ball. He could also get access to Octazooka too for coverage. I like the idea of him evolving into a steel type tho. Maybe they also upgrade Flash Cannon too. Steel Type Special Attacker would be cool

They look great, all my complaints were fixed i would honestly like this starter, that aside i have a lot of ideas for the water line. - porsite Perfect. Is baby. But for real, the name alone signals several things like foresight, but also POOR sight. I think these guys should have bad eyesight, and eventually go blind, relying on psychic echolocation. - cettoekko Expanding on the theme of communication barriers I think this Pokémon should have trouble expressing his feelings and connecting with other people in Pokémon making it unable to use a psychic ability to the fullest. Also I think it would be cool to make the jump from 1 to 2 bubbles giving it a sort of headphones like appearance. This Pokémon also should look a bit more whale like to better transition into Buballeen - Buballeen The jump from dolphin to whale was way too sudden and this design I think should be sleeker to the match with the other members of it to line. I also think that encompassing the whole body and living in a bubble arms was a bit too far. Maybe the idea of giving bubble goggles and above all scuba gear on its back or maybe a bubble cannon on its back would be a much better way to go about it. Also while I like the concept of it becoming more friendly as a baleen whale, I think it should retain some more orca like elements because orcas would fit this final evolution better as they are still dolphins, Also I like the closed eyes because again I think this line should go blind and has psychic echolocation, and the fact that this thing dives deep means that should have bad eyesight due to all that darkness.

I love everything about the line! It seems like it could have some really cool secondary typing to go along with it. Like perhaps the first two forms are grass and rock (from their clay pots) but Gastronaught could be grass and steel (like you said having upgraded their armor). Another idea could have Mollucotta be a pure grass type, just trying to hide from the world. Expursum could be a grass and fighting (in this case fighting being "good") type, trying to prove to everyone that it wants to help and make the world a better place. And finally Gastronaught could be a grass and dark ("evil") type; after being betrayed, persecuted, and ignored for so long, Gastronaught now seeks revenge against the very people they once saved.

Looking at it, for a battle it might be a physical wall and maybe a sweeper. Now I don’t know if it is a secondary type of rock or ground but I think these could be the ability and stats Terracotta armor- reduce critical hit and super effective damage done to them by 25% Signature move: Century Blast- it’s a ??? Type move that will change its typing depending on the first move in a battle round,it also deals a random status effect as well (W.I.P) As for stats, Hp:80 Attack:75 Defense:100 Special attack:100 Special defense:130 Speed:60 While slow, I figured they could take quite a beating due to their tough bodies and very strong special attackers due to that arm cannon. I am open to criticism, so if I can do it better I am open.

For the communication issue with the water type starter, maybe something like a text bubble would be interesting? like a literal text "bubble"? the letters in it could be shaped like the unown, to strengthen the whole psychic feel, or maybe instead of letters, it could try to communicate through unclear symbols, that become clearer with every evolution?
@thethinker72734 жыл бұрын
Can you make Bond Phenomenon Pokemon? Picture this: Imagine a Pokemon game where you start with a starter that has mental problems of it's own. It wouldn't trust you, it doesn't want to fight, it's too lazy to do anything. But as it evolves, it starts to change... You'll find yourself bonding with that Pokemon and expressing how they feel. As a drawback, you can never abandon this start like Pikachu and Eevee, but in exchange the Pokemon you assigned will grow depending on how you raise it. The Final evolution will be entirely dependent on you! Sorta like the two final evolutions rumor in Sun and Moon, the last form you're Pokemon will take will completely depend on how you developed your Pokemon on the journey. If raised poorly, then it's final evolution would be aggressive, poorly adjust and will unable to bond with you anymore. Then, and only then, do you have the option to release them. It's cruel, but there's no other way to go out. This will symbolize how some trainers mistreat their starter Pokemon and abandon them without care. And if you really don't have a heart, then you'll make life harder on yourself. But if the bond has been established, then the final evolution will be a completely new form where their power will be put to the ultimate test. They'll gain the Battle Bond ability and their signature skill will be enhanced by your bond. There's also a weapon like the big water shuriken on Ash-Greninja's back that can be used in battle. You'll take damage as well as the Pokemon, and if your bond is pushed too far, or if the Pokemon ends up fainting, you'll end up exhausted and rushed to a Pokemon Center regardless of the Pokemon you have left. But either way, this is a true show of friendship and trust. Mega Evolution and Z-Moves rely on bonds, but none can compare to the strength of a singular Pokemon's development from weak and pathetic to powerful and friendly! In exchange for some major competitive issues, this allows people to choose whether they want to ditch their starter as fast as possible, or establish a bond and win with the very starter Pokemon who kick-started your adventure.
@thethinker72734 жыл бұрын
When you think about it, Pokemon as a whole is about friendship and battling. Too much battling will cause the broken evolution, but if you stop and take your time with the battles and spend all the time in the world with your Pokemon, it'll definitely make them have a bond with you.

The final evolution's should have bubbles that look like fishes. Then it would look like the bake-kujira ( a flying whale yo-kai surrounded by fish). It would use those fish to cummunicate. Also I think the bubble should only cover its upper jaw and skull. the bubble would be like its brain and it creates those fishes with it.

I love the new Expursm and Gastronaut designs, I think they fit the line you want to create. However, I agree with you when you said you missed the single eye design on Mollucotta. My suggestion is to have the hole where the face is appear more broken with a jagged piece covering the left (right) eye. Adding the mouth really nailed home the starter vibe, and brought that "scared" feel to the pokemon. Super excited to see the other lines develop!

I think in some way the Water Starter and Evolution Line need to be more of a Starter... You have chosen a Whale Like Design, which is unique in ways, however doesn't fit the "Starter" format! Think about it, whales need to be in water to live, Beached Whales die without being in the ocean, so while sticking with the Whale Idea for Design I think you need to design it as it is evolving to live without water in a way or having it evolve without resembling a straight up whale. Think of having to carry a whale along through your journey's as a starter Pokémon, its not so realistic in that world, humanizing it a little would help solidify it as a starter that you could see Trainers walk around with! Though the Bubble Idea surrounding the 3rd Evolution is unique it doesn't quite make sense and is distracting in my opinion, the bubbles shouldn't be the main focal point in my thoughts and should only help accent the Pokémon, such as having bubble like forms on its spine, arms/fins and such that seem to be filled with water or something, which could further push that this whale like Pokémon could live outside of water, and I would think would be a pretty different design!

Technically beached whales die because their bodies crush themself cause their bodies float in the water but are pulled by gravity in land, and whales are mammals so they technically dont need water to breath but its their bodies that cannot handle being out of water, im Not sure about the specifics so if im wrong please tell me, i just made this reply without refreshing my knowledge about this and only basing from memory

@@juxtgene I do not know if this is fully correct info either, but I do see what you are saying... However my statement still stands, even with your counter statement... It still shows a Whale can't live and survive without the Ocean, whether its because of Water or its Body, probably both... It still in my eyes doesn't make sense to stay true to a Full Whale Model, instead of having a Whale Inspired Model Form! Thank you for the comment, and information!

He could let the bubbles be a means of floating and survival. This should alleviate the disconnect. I am more concerned about the size. Most starters evolve to about the height of an adult. A whale suggests a f*cking huge size.

I personally would want the line to legs at any point, with being a psychic type (at least secondary) I can imagine it having the Levitate ability so it can move around out of the water without hinderance. The bubble it has on it's head could be filled with water and cover it's gills to give it even less reason to live in water.

Andrew Mummert Since it’s psychic type, I just imagined it “swimming” through the air. I agree with the other points tho

All of this is great but not calling one of them Snailien is killing me :p Edit: Now I've watched the whole thing I can say wholeheartedly I love these designs. *However* I still have the slight misgiving that Mollucotta doesn't read very strongly as a snail. I think if you took the lower limbs off and gave it a snail tail the design would be truer to the original garden snail concept.

I actually like the one eye for the grass starter

I love the idea of a communication barrier, it could actually give meaning to spending time with your pokemon in the camps like in sword and shield or grooming it after battles in X and Y (idk if I am correct on that one). Because it gives you the option to actually format a close bond with your pokemon and not just have the game said you have. The game could be more then just battling and catching your pokemon, it could also bring in caring for them and bring in other story with that. And if you don't want to do that then your pokemon could act different then if you did.

The love the improvement of the first evolution as it have a very friendly face but I do think it’s final form is a bit to human which goes against the alien theme and I also like the colours For the whale Pokemon I think you should add in more beluga whale into the design as they are know for their communication skills also I think the large forehead could fit with both the bubbles and the psychic type I also think changing up the expression could work well as I think the first form is too angry looking I believe it work better if the first form had a sad or crying expression to show how it wants to be understood, then next an grumpy expression as it get annoyed with its trainer and other Pokemon as it can now be understood and for the final form give it a happy expression as it’s trainer can understand it For colour I think the greys should be changed to more of a grey blue to make it look more like a water type as I think the design focuses to much on the psychic type or maybe go with a pink/purple colour scheme similar to shiny Popplio and it’s evaluation line

The design is great - it doesn’t have the starter type feel tho. More like an electivire/magmortar kind of thjng

Two ideas for the water line: Include music into the evolutionary line. Whales specifically are known to communicate through songs and you can show how people's tastes in music changes over time. The first stage some sort of poppy school songs, then the moody teenager obviously listens to screamo, then the final form can be opera or classical music. The other one is to include the evolutionary history of cetaceans into the line. Their closest living relative is the hippo and you can include some cute hippo features in the first stage of the starter and include fiercer features as they evolve. Also I liked the one-eyed look for Mollucotto as it is unique for starters and makes him the cutest of the bunch. Maybe make the hole where his face is half the size so you have one eye and half of his mouth?

While I know this isn't the Fire type, I feel like the fire type should have more varied colours ( due to the colours being very similar to already existing bird Pokemon Ho oh and (I forgot there name) I felt like from the first video you should have kept the 4 arms unless you could join the arms together ( wrapped around each other) I also feel like you could have added "alien" symbols ok the evolution. I really like the water evolution aswell BUT when I look at the pokemon I think water/ghost or a pokemon that was fused with Kyogre due to the symbols on the bubble, I also feel like you could have added small bubbles around the tail and around the bubble from before to show it's more powerful with how many bubbles it has, I also feel like the pose could have been similar to the fetal position istead which shows there passive behavior Edit- Grammar
