Hello everyone!
I've been working on this video for so long and it's finally here: the next instalment in the DESIGNING MAGICAL GIRL SERIES. This time I'm turning planets and other celestial bodies into female and male characters, not only that I'm turning those into magical guardians.
These guardians have a secondary theme of fantasy/ magical knights and are hopefully more coherent as a magical team.
In this video I'll introduce you to my new characters their personalities, their unique abilities as well as their relations to each others.

10:11 if that's the idea then it would be interesting if she was born that way and had to work really hard to get those arms, this would also explain why she is so focused, because it was the hard work that changed her life and can change the lives of others, so she thinks she needs to keep going and that this is okay.

I agree, I was leaning that way as well because I felt that maybe I could explore her upbringing and how she dealt with her disability as a child. So I think it's safe to say that it's canon that she was born like that.

this video should be titled "watch me make you fall in love with these characters in under 13 minutes" LOL i'm so blown away by how much life and personality they all have just from their designs and your descriptions! i can totally picture what they'd be like and i'm instantly in love with all of them ❤ i think my favorite might be the mercury character (i'm not sure how to spell his name and i dont wanna get it wrong aaa), because even though he's pretty closed off from his team, he still obviously cares about them and tries to help them in his own way- it's very endearing! his relationship with lily and how she's the only one who's allowed to hug him is just too sweet! 🥺 also, when you said he keeps a log of their everyday life, i could immediately imagine a book series about these characters that were "written by him," or just a series narrated by him in general- but even without it being a framing device it's another way to show how important his team is to him and how dedicated he is to them. it makes me love him that much more ❤❤ im also in love with mari for several different reasons like! first of all i'm Always partial to chubby/overweight characters bc it's wonderful to see that representation, and also her design is So Cute and i especially love the complexity you gave her with her impostor syndrome and anxiety in general. that's such a great way to make a team leader character more interesting, showing that she's not always as confident as you would expect from someone in her position- in fact, it makes her feel more down to earth and realistic. absolutely love that!!! i could go on about how great everyone is but honestly, the bottom line is: even though it won't be for a while, i'll absolutely be there for whatever you have planned for these characters in the future! it's obvious you put a lot of thought into them from their designs to their personalities to their dynamics with each other (which i LOVE btw) and that passion you put into them easily translates into love from all of us too. basically, thank you for sharing this with us! ❤

psa, for the prosthetics, it makes more sense that she lost them somehow bc to use prosthetic you have to know how tu use an arm, something that ppl born without don’t know how to do, since you have to trick your brain into thinking you have an arm when you don’t really do

Wow! Just rewatched your original magical girl redesign video, and I have to say you have improved so much! You have grown so much in using shape language, character poses, expressions, and colors! Plus so much more! There’s so many things I want to point out! The characters flow together very nicely. They feel uniform, yet each character is unique, and their outfits fit their personalities perfectly! The colors point your eyes to the right places, so you aren’t dragged away from the main focus. :D Speaking of colors, they flow so nicely together! They don’t clash, or overtake the other, which is awesome! (That’s a personal struggle for me, so I love seeing someone who knows how to do it properly do it lol.) You really get the gist of their personality from the first glance, thanks to the wonderful poses, expressions, and shapes! That’s hard to master, and it’s so awesome to see your growth! Can’t wait to see more from you in the future!

Thank you so much, you have no idea how much this means to me. ❤️❤️❤️ Also keep practicing color whenever you can. I used to have the same issue, colours were always super hard for me and my color palettes were all super dull. Some tips I have is to remove the lines, temporarily, checking the contrast, if it works without lines and in greyscale it has a better chance of working in full color. To make the color palettes harmonious you'll have to study a bit on color combinations, but a way to cheat a little is to put a gradient map on top, set it to either overlay or soft light and set it to a low opacity You can play around with lots of gradients, opacities and even layer modes until you get something you like. Hope this helps a little.

Got it and I may or may not be drawing fan art of Gin for my art club😅 I'm a simp and your humanized Sanrio characters just like valentine's pic it's to cute to exist I drew Gin in this oversized hoodie that looks like a dress because I thought it was cute (it's yellow I wanted it to be black but from what I know about her so far it doesn't fit with her) has a cat hood and a heart on it I love the idea of her wearing hoodies or sweaters so big they look like dresses

I use photoshop. It's a bit tricky to record, but after you get the hang of it it becomes second nature.

0:18 I realize this now but this technically isn't a problem because they might have similar powers like most magical girls and if they chose to work together they don't need to have a same team so they can have a similar matching power but the secondary theme can be different 1:48 I only see it now but Lily reminds me of Mikey from the teenage mutant ninja turtles (rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles btw not the others) and it kinda sounds like Lily has ADHD just like Mikey I don't know why but I imagine her civilian design to have a Mikey Hoodie now........ (And She is one of my favorite magical girl ocs you have after Gin and Jasper tho) 4:43 sounds like some form of Borderline personality disorder more since people with BPD are naturally depended, having problems with self image often doubting themselves, wanting to make others happy all the time and Having a high level of empathy
