I'm really trying to find an answer to this question, but he keeps quoting the same (out of context) verse. I want to believe this, but pastors keep miss using this verse. All you need to do is read a few verse before to know he isn't talking about clean/unclean food.. And the statement where he declares food clean, isn't in the original Greek! That was added WAY later by a translator. This isn't a sufficient answer and I'm disappointed in Piper for this. They also do this with Peter's dream. It wasn't about food it was about Jews and gentiles. Paul does speak of it a lot, but context is very important. I want to agree with his position, but his answers are not soild once someone does a little research for themselves.

I agree with what Pastor John says, my struggle has been with the verses the expressly state "this shall be a law forever". I am praying for the Spirit to give me wisdom to have an answer for those who want to insist that "forever" to the children of Israel means every believer for all time.

I am praying for you (and all of us!) that the Spirit would move amongst His people and give us discernment to understand His scripture. I started a couple years ago looking to "prove" that the instruction God gives His people in the front of my Bible didnt apply to me as a modern day believer. God changed my heart and I now am convicted that His instruction for His people stands the same today as it did all of those years ago. "Forever" means forever. That wrestling in your heart should not be ignored. I could list verse after verse after verse that shows one consistant message that His law is eternal, what God deems righteous/sin does not change with time, and that if we truly love our Lord and Saviour, we show that love by our obedience to His word. This is NOT to earn salvation through works (that is legalism), but in order to love our Lord with the life we live. Jesus said: "If you love me, keep my commandments." John 14:15 God bless you and your family! If you are interested in a patient, loving discussion of this topic, and I am willing to have one with you. People took the time with me, and I am trying to pay it forward..... Your brother in Christ, --Ted

This is what Paul is talking about throughout Romans/Galatians / Corinthians , and most of the gospel . The problem with the nation of Israel at this time ( first century ) was that most of the nation did not believe that Jesus Christ was that promise to bless ALL NATIONS ; SO they continued in the sin atonement of flesh through the mediator Moses . I don't know what to believe. It seems like it depends on who I am listening to determines whether we can eat pork. Paul makes it seem like we can eat pork in Romans 14,however, Paul also makes it seem like we shouldn't (sin is breaking the law, and Paul says we shouldn't sin just bc grace abounds). Secondly, everyone has different opinions on what Jesus said. Some say we can eat pork bc of that passage in mark, and others say we can't bc of matthew 5. Lastly, Isaiah 66 prophecies that those who eat unclean animals will be killed. And revelation 18: 2 makes it seem like eating unclean animals is still wrong. Not to mention acts 15 says we don't have to follow the law. Can someone plz help me understand all of this!!!

Yes! Read 1st John 2:3. You need to keep the commandments that apply to you including the 7th day sabbath. You miss that one you miss them all. Keep the commandments, high holy days, new moon celebrations, and fast days, and then see what happens in your faith. The baptism of the Holy Spirit should follow your obedience, but you have to obey first.

Gustavo Pomar ROMANS 2:12-13 , " 12.For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; 13(For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified" . It seen that in Romans 3:20 , Paul states that man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law ; but in Romans 2:13 , Paul states that not the hearers of the law are just before God , but the doers of the law shall be justified . How can you not be justified by the law in one chapter of Romans , and be justified by the law in another ? Answer , Paul is talking about TWO TYPE OF LAWS ! Romans 3:27-31 , " Where is boasting then ? It is excluded . By what law ? of works ? Nay : but by the law of faith . Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law . Is he the God of the Jews only ? is he not also of the Gentiles ? Yes , of the Gentiles also : Seeing it is one God , which shall justify the circumcision by faith , and the uncircumcision through faith . Do we then made void the law through faith ? God forbid : yea , we establish the law " . First question , What is sin ? Answer , 1 John 3:4 , " 4Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law " . So , breaking the laws of God is what put you in sin ; which requires a sin sacrifice of atonement to redeem you from sin . Question , what are the sin sacrifice of atonement called ? 1. blood of the animal and oblations by works , or the law of animal sacrifice , through the mediator Moses , under the priesthood of Leviticus . 2. blood of Jesus Christ by faith ( Romans 10:17 , " So then faith cometh by hearing , and hearing by the word of GOD " ; which means that you must repent of your sins with a sorrowful heart ( mind ) , then obey your mediator Jesus Christ by keeping his commandments ; which he received from the Father ; which are the laws/commandments ; including all covenants ; which are instructions to righteousness . NOW I WILL EXPLAIN ROMANS 3:27-31 ( ROMANS 3:27-31 , " Where is boasting then ? It is excluded . By what law ? of works ( blood of the animals , or law of animal sacrifice & oblations by works ) ? Nay : but by the law of faith ( blood of Jesus Christ by keeping the Father's commandments , or the law of faith ) . Therefore we conclude that a man is JUSTIFIED ( REDEEMED , OR FORGIVEN ) by faith ( Romans 10:17 , " So then faith cometh by hearing , and hearing by the word of God " ) without the deeds of the law ( law of animal sacrifice of works ) . Is he the God of the Jews ( Israelites ) only ? is he not also of the Gentiles ( Nations not under the covenant of the Father , not under the laws of the Father = Romans 2:11-15 ) ? Yes , of the Gentiles also : Seeing it is one God ( Father ) , which shall justify ( redeem or forgive ) the circumcision ( The Israelites under the circumcision of flesh for sin , or the law of animal sacrifice ) by faith ( blood of Christ , or circumcision of heart/spirit for sin ; because they could not be forgiven by the law of animal sacrifice , or circumcision of flesh/body for sin ) , and uncircumcision ( Gentiles or Strangers not under the law of animal sacrifice , or circumcision of flesh/body for sin ) through faith ( blood of Christ , or circumcision of heart/spirit for sin ) .31.Do we then make void the law( LAW OF ANIMAL SACRIFICE & OBLATIONS , OR THE CIRCUMCISION OF FLESH/BODY FOR SIN , OR THE LAW OF MOSES ) through faith ( CIRCUMCISION OF HEART/SPIRIT FOR SIN , OR THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST BY REPENTING AND BELIEVING THE GOSPEL , OR THE LAW OF CHRIST ) ? God forbid ( NO ) : yea, we establish the law ( PAUL WAS TALKING TO ISRAELITES , WHO WERE UNDER THE CIRCUMCISION OF FLESH/BODY FOR SIN BEFORE COMING UNDER THE CIRCUMCISION OF HEART/SPIRIT FOR SIN UNDER JESUS CHRIST . THE ISRAELITES CONTINUED TO USE THE CIRCUMCISION OF FLESH/BODY , OR THE LAW OF ANIMAL SACRIFICE & OBLATION , OR THE LAW OF MOSES FOR CLEANING THE BODY ; WHEN IT BECOMES UNCLEAN THROUGH TOUCHING A DEAD BOBY , WOMAN ON HER MONTLY , PURFICATION ; BUT NOT TO JUSTIFY THEM FROM SIN ; THIS REQUIRES FAITH . THIS WAS THE DISCUSSION IN ACTS 15 ; NOT THE CIRCUMCISION OF FLESH OF FORESKIN ; WHICH IS AN EVERLASTING COVENANT THROUGH ABRAHAM , BUT THE CIRCUMCISION OF FLESH/BODY , OR THE MANNER OF MOSES , OR THE LAW OF MOSES , OR THE LAW OF ANIMAL SACRIFICE & OBLATIONS . THE DECREE IN ACTS 15 , WAS :THE GENTILES WOULD NOT START WITH THE CIRCUMCISION AS THE MANNER OF MOSES , SINCE THEY WERE NEVER UNDER IT , BUT CAME INTO THE FATH AS ABRAHAM . PLEASE READ ACTS 21:21-25 & 1 CORINTHIAN 7:17-24 ; PAUL GIVES AN ACCOUNT OF THIS . SHALOM !

No, it sounds like you don’t understand the continuity of the whole Word of God. God’s laws are eternal. The new covenant that did not abrogate the laws of God. The Law was Perfect, is Perfect, and only spoke of the Messiah. Christians twist Paul’s writings to the error of Lawlessness and reject the CLEAR WORDS of the Messiah.

In Mark 7:19, some translations insert ("Thus he declared all foods clean.") The parenthesis indicate this to be an addition by a translator or copyist therefore a personal opinion and not part of the word of God. It is absent in some translations. Take note of Mt.7:23 where Christ says , "depart from me, you workers of" Torah- lessness. And Paul in Rom.2:13, "the doers of the law will be justified". Blessings to you!

The Bible version you are using for Mark 7 verse 19 translate that scripture incorrectly. During his Earthly Ministry the entire law of Moses was still in full force. Jesus did not declare all foods clean in mark. The King James version translated better. Jesus was referring to how the digestive system able to remove things that might make a person sick. Remember the context, they were talking about how his disciples did not wash their hands before eating bread. The dietary law did not end until Jesus died on the cross.

What the new covenant is the Torah and prophets fulfilled through a Messiah according to Matthew 5:17 - 19. The old covenant was the Torah and prophets without a Messiah. Make no mistake: Salvation is by putting your faith in the sacrifice that Yeshua (Jesus) died for your sins and was raised from the dead, knowing he is risen and confessing him as Adonai (Lord) - Ephesians 2:8 and Romans 10:9. There is no other way and Paul put emphasis on this because to approach a gentile with the gospel means to preach this message. The gospel is no different to a Jew. As a Messianic believer (Christian Jew), I find that in my walk with God that obedience to his word and not removing the least of his commandments brings blessing. But I do it through the Holy Spirit and not through my own works - Phillipians 2:13. Again, we are made right through God, not by ourselves. If one becomes a believer in Yeshua and learns and studies hard the word of God and applies it to their life through Yeshua it brings blessing especially in a home. While the sacrifices in Leviticus do not apply because there is no temple and specific priestly duties pertain only to Cohen annointed priests, we can still learn from it and apply it in our lives. The same goes for the rest of it. The sabbath is for everyone as well as the hollidays. The diet should be followed as well. It was never done away with. However, the basic principle is salvation and repentance. This is first and formost and without it and this is the key to establishing a relationship with God.

John, Mark never said "thus he declared all foods clean". That was inserted by the translators. That's why it's in parenthesis. That text isn't found in Bibles 60 years or older. They have added to the scriptures. Your main point is on a text that isn't even there. Please think about this for one minute. You are saying Jesus came to Earth to undo God's perfect Law. Jesus was never against the Father, He is one with Him and the Father doesn't change. Consider Duet 13 and ask yourself if the Jesus you are putting forth adds or takes away from God's Law. It certainly looks like you're saying he did which would make him a false prophet. Jesus fulfilled the Law, meaning he brought it to it's fullness. He lived it perfectly, how the Father intended it to be lived out. That does not mean he abolished it. He specifically says he did not come to abolish it! The problem is that for some reason Christianity thinks to fulfill means to abolish.

Romans 3 9 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one John 3 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 1 cor 15 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures Acts 16 30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Eph 2 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Eph 4 30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Rom 7 14:17 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. 16If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. 17Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. John 1 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

john if Jesus said He didn't come abolish the law, why then do you say He abolished it when he fulfilled it? I think that your definition of fulfill is very off. Please reconcile this answer with the prophetic writing in Isaiah 65....where Jesus has returned and uses the eating of pork as one of the identifying traits of those who oppose God. Why would he mention this? Seems weird if Jesus really DID say you can eat whatever you want. Isaiah 65:2 " All day long I have held out my hands to an obstinate people who walk in the wrong path, who follow their own imaginations..." Isaiah 65:4 "...sitting among the graves, spending nights in secret places, EATING THE MEAT OF PIGS AND POLLUTED BROTH FROM THEIR BOWLS." What about chapter 66? Isaiah 66:3 "...whoever presents a grain offering is like one who offers pig's blood....Indeed, they have chosen their own ways and delighted in their ABOMINATIONS." Isaiah 66:17 "Those who consecrate and purify themselves to enter the groves -- to follow one in the center of those WHO EAT THE FLESH OF SWINE and vermin and rats -- will perish tegether", declares the LORD." If Jesus declared all 'food' clean, why would eating pork be seen as a signifier of those who rebel against the Almighty? This would be unjust to hold them accountable for something that is no longer viewed as rebellion. Or perhaps, what Jesus was talking about in Mark 7 was the ceremonial cleansing of hands and vessels, and NOT undoing what God had already decried for His people. Is that not more consistant with God's unchanging nature? In the Psalms 119:160, it says "All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal". Did He not really mean it? If you contend that it is permissable to eat pork today, then please explain the prophetic passages above from Isaiah. Use scripture for your doctrine, not the teachings and traditions of men. God bless!

"Why Are Old Testament Commands No Longer Binding?" Well...IF you were Jesus (who was God) and made 613 commandments (laws); to which 10 were etched into two tablets of stone; and you gave it to your people through "Moses", etc; and over 2,000 yrs; less than 10% of your "chosen" people; obeyed your commandments; what would you do? Huh? For that is exactly what 90% of the "Israelites" (denigrated to just one tribe called "Judahites", AKA: "Jews") did for 2,000 yrs. Oh yes indeed. Wouldn't you create a "Manifested" Son of you, on earth; and try to "Save" that satan-led, rotten, wretched "LOT" of "Abominable Sinners" (except for a minuscule of them) for 2,000 yrs? And get this: 90% of them hated you and forced the "Roman Government" to crucify you until you were dead. But...because you still loved them dearly; you gave them 40 more yrs (Until 70 AD), to accept that you WERE indeed the TRUE "Messiah" (Savior in English); and you offered them "Everlasting Life"; simply by "believing' IN you; and...that you WERE the ONLY true God ever. And sadly, you find that 99% of them; still refused "adamantly"; that you were God. So you said, "My patience has run over; because I have given them 2,070 yrs to worship me. So I am going to allow a 'Roman leader' named 'Titus'; and he will go down to Jerusalem; and set fire to your "prostituted', worthless 'Holy City' and 'Holy Temple'; and kick you out; and you WILL be scattered ALL over the world". So you then ended the 1st "Covenant" given to Moses; and you created a "New" Covenant; and your disciples will witness to all (even Jews) of the world. And you will give the "Gentiles" (and Jews too) what you offered to Abraham; because you KNEW that only 1% of the Jews will EVER accept you; until the END of the World. Thus, in essence, the 613 commandments were worthless. For the ONLY thing that will cause any person to obey your commandments; is if they accept YOU and worship ONLY you; Because YOU are the ONLY True God Almighty there will ever be. Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the laws and the prophets. And I say, "Praise Jesus" and..."I rest my case!" In any case, Please Pray and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!

Grace is God loving us when we fail to walk out His instructions perfectly. We most certainly WILL fail and we will need God's grace when we do...... If you are a parent like I am, you learn a lot on how God might view us by how we view our own children. If I ask my children to do something and they try their best but fail, I am appreciative and loving towards them and their failure. When they do not even try and act as if they do not care what I asked, I feel angry at their attitude (their heart). I think God views us in the same way. Do we have hearts of flesh that yearn to follow Him? Or do we have unrepentant hearts of stone? God bless you and your family!

Happy Sabbath!! The Spirit inclines me to obey the Father’s laws, decrees and statutes. Invoked, inspired all of that and I am glad to comply. The Lord’s laws reflect His nature.though believers are not UNDERAGE the law we cheerfully obey them, for they are GODs and they are good. We do our best because Yeshua know we are ‘gravely flawed and limited by a sinful NATURE’ and He said it is good for the servant to be LIKE the Master. Why argue about man’s limited interpretations and philosophical viewpoints? Paul said to the Romans: “What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be (Certainly not!!)! Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness? But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed, and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. (...there is a full story go check out Romans 6:14-20) I am non-non denominational😳 I am however a FOLLOWER of Christ. Period. Sure we don’t have tabernacles and such to uphold the seemingly detailed oriented ceremonies is Lev. and Deut. However we are to uphold the FOREVER covenant... one of which is communion with the Lord on the day HE reserved for His people... 7th day of the week. But POOF💨 where did one of the 10 commandments go?!!! You see how silly humans are?!! Not everyone is MEANT to GET IT. And they will kick and scream to force ‘their’ understanding and applaud when their ears get TICKLED with LIES!!! It is the Spirit of YHWH that opens the eyes and ears of the heart. It is the Spirit of YHWH that awakens YHWH children and set them apart from the rest. Sheep vs goats. This is another sheep vs goat issue. It was written: My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. -John 10:27 NOT everyone is HIS sheep, call yourself whatever you want!!! Christian, believer, follower, qodeshim, the elect... Because: John 6:44 “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.” And: “For many are called, but few are CHOSEN. -Matthew 22:14 You can choose to hear what you wanna hear and what pleases you or you can focus on what pleases the Father GOD and do what HE says, black and white. Repent from discord and rebellion masking as ‘intelligence and understanding’ Yeah, I like Pipers ‘S’s and His way with words but this viewpoint of His is warped and not biblically sound. You have been warned, be extremely discerning NOW!! For it was written: In the past Elohim overlooked such ignorance but now He commands all people to repent! Acts 17:30 WAKE UP, please. Depart from ‘corrupted’ and water down versions and ‘perception’ of this complete doctrine.

At Luke 16:16 Jesus said that the law and the prophets were until John.our Holy Mother the Catholic Church. But at Luke 16:17, the very next verse, Jesus says not one jot or tittle of the law will ever go away. What gives? Is Jesus contradicting Himself? No. What Jesus is saying in verse 16 is that the Levitical law (circumcision, no pork, animal sacrifice, etc.) has passed away, and He is saying in verse 17 that the ten commandments still stand.

Galatians clears alot of this tough teaching up. The Law was to teach us how filthy we are/were. Due to Christ's fufillment and our being saved by grace, Jesus simplified The Law as we now know it from new test scrip. The old law is not dead. But it is basically like a school master from jr high. Teaching you amd disciplinning you in the ways needed for high school. But once in high school the structure is still valid but THAT school master is not directly over you anymore as youre now under a new schoolmates. (Simplified talk obviously) bible teaches that if we live by the law, then The Father will judge us by the entire law (several hundred laws). If we live by faith as we're saved by grace, then christ as our attorney to the father our judgment will be based off the faith and grace. Galatians will help clear alot of this up. I struggled with this for years as well because of how the wording is about the law not going away, etc. BUT we are not under the mosaic law any longer thanks to Jesus and his fufillment.

The law isnt "dead". The Law as in Gods commands. The mosaic law is not in place for the gentiles/jews alike. The 600+ laws. No man could keep them. Part of why Christ had to come to "Fulfill the law" because we couldn't/can't. So for people that wish to be legalists and cherry pick sections and specific portions of the old mosaic law, the Word says if you choose to live by the law you will be judged by it. Or, you can choose to accept Christ's gift of salvation and justification. Saved by grace thru faith in Christ alone. He even tells us to take on his yoke because his burden is light. He mentions Mosaic law himself, says Moses told you this/that, but I tell you this. So yes I would say the mosaic law is done away with since Christ's death/resurrection. The 10 Commandments "Law" has not gone away. It's been fulfilled and we are to follow Christ's commands. But if we live a legalist life we instead will be judged by the 600+ Mosaic Laws of ancient Israel. I think I'll take Christ's offer before I'd EVER attempt to inevitably fail in upholding ALL Mosaic Laws of the time due to having had no option for faith in Christ at the time.

Christians seem to believe in an objective morality, laid down by god. Objective by definition means it is absolute and unchanging, so how is it then that christians now disregard the hundreds of OT commandments that were spelled out from god, and how can Jesus so easily "change" them, or so that they are no longer binding? Did Jesus mean to change them? "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’” Jesus refers back to the OT laws as if they are legitimate and binding. People were executed in the OT for not obeying the laws. So are they objective? And if not, how is it that some/ all of them don't apply today?

MARK 17:1-23 EXPLAINED : 1. Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, which came from Jerusalem . THE LEADERS OF ISRAEL WHO JESUS SAID THIS TO :( MATTHEW 21:28-46 , " 28.But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.29He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.30And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.31Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.32For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.33Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:34And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.35And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.36Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.37But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.38But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.39And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.40When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?41They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.42Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?43Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.44And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.45And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.46But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet " . ) 2. And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashen, hands, they found fault. THIS DEFILE WAS NOT OF THE LAWS OF GOD , WHICH ARE SPIRITUAL , BUT TRADITIONS STARTED BY THE ELDERS OF ISRAEL . 3. For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands oft, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders. And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables. 5. Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands? OVER THE CENTURIES , THE LEADERS OF ISRAEL MADE UP LAWS AS PRETAINING TO WHAT THEY THOUGHT GOD WANTED THEM TO DO TO STAY HOLY :( ISAIAH 29:9-12 , " 9.Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.10For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.11And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:12And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned " .) 6. He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. 7. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. JESUS WAS QUOTING THE PROPHET ISAIAH : ( ISAIAH 29:13 , " 13Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men " . ) 8. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. THE PHARISEES AND SCRIBES DID NOT TAKE THIS TO HEART : ( PROVERBS 3:5-8 , " 5.Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths7Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.8It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones " . ) 9. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. THESE MEN ARE PUTTING THEIR OWN TRADITIONS ABOVE THE LAWS OF GOD ; THEY HAVE BECOME THEIR OWN god : ( ISAIAH 14:12-14 , " 12.How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!13.For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:14.I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High " . ) 10. For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death: JESUS WAS QUOTING FROM THE SCRIPTURES : ( EXODUS 20:12 , " 12.Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee " . ) AND ; ( EXODUS 21:17 , " 17.And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death " . ) 11. But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free. 12. And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother; THE TRADITIONS THAT THE LEADERS OF ISRAEL ( PHARISEES ANS SCRIBES ) WAS THAT IF YOU TAKE CARE OF YOUR FATHER OR MOTHER BY PROVIDING MATERIAL THINGS THAT YOU PROVIDE TO THEM ; YOU DID NOT HAVE TO HONOUR THEM ; YOU ARE FREE . 13. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?26When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.27Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive " .) The Levitical laws---the laws spelled out in Levitucus and Deutoronomy---no pork, circumcision, animal sacrifice, no fires on Saturday, etc.---were abrogated by Jesus at Luke 16:16. Yes, Jesus continued to voluntarily keep them, but only to keep from causing a ruckus among the Jews. These laws applied only to Jews---most non-Jews ("Gentiles") of that period had never even heard of the Levitical laws. The whole purpose of them was to prepare the Jews for the coming of the Messiah. Once He came there was no longer any need for them. The ten commandments, on the other hand, still stand. These laws were meant for all people ar all times because they reflect the natural laws, the laws of common sense. It is the ten commandments, and not the Levitical laws, that Jesus had in mind when He said that not one jot or tittle of the law would ever go away. It is very important to make the distinction between Levitical law and ten commandment law. So many errors are made when we fail to distinguish these two kinds of law.

I commend you for writing this long essay however it was unnecessary. It does not say in scriptures that he just kept the law so he won't cause any ruckus. He taught his disciples to keep the law through faith. It was not a voluntary act, it was an act of love. The law was not only for the Jews it was for All mankind. It literally says in the old writings that the law will be loved by all nations. And the last thing I want to mention is that the ten commandments is the sum of the whole law which includes the sacrifices and the dietary law the law of the Kings the law of farmers the law of men the law of women the law of children the law of retaliation law of cleansing the law of quarantine the law of Priestly Acts the law of jealousy the law of judges the law of divorce the law of marriage and etc. So I hope this helped clarify your misunderstanding, good luck to you. I totally forgot to mention this important thing. Luke 16:16 was quoted to conclude that the our Anointed abolished the Most High behaviors when the next two verses confirms that the heavens and earth fail before the Law then He used an example from the Law. I want to help. Here is an advise, read the whole context. You will have clarity if you don't verse pluck the scriptures. Increase!

Mark 7: 6 He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: “ ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 7 They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’ 8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.” 9 And he continued, “You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions! 10 For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and, ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’ 11 But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is Corban (that is, devoted to God)- 12 then you no longer let them do anything for their father or mother. 13 Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that.” Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. Deuteronomy 13:6 If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, “Let us go and worship other gods” (gods that neither you nor your ancestors have known, 7 gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other), 8 do not yield to them or listen to them. Show them no pity. Do not spare them or shield them. 9 You must certainly put them to death. Your hand must be the first in putting them to death, and then the hands of all the people. 10 Stone them to death, because they tried to turn you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 11 Then all Israel will hear and be afraid, and no one among you will do such an evil thing again. 12 If you hear it said about one of the towns the Lord your God is giving you to live in 13 that troublemakers have arisen among you and have led the people of their town astray, saying, “Let us go and worship other gods” (gods you have not known), 14 then you must inquire, probe and investigate it thoroughly. And if it is true and it has been proved that this detestable thing has been done among you, 15 you must certainly put to the sword all who live in that town. You must destroy it completely,[b] both its people and its livestock. 16 You are to gather all the plunder of the town into the middle of the public square and completely burn the town and all its plunder as a whole burnt offering to the Lord your God. That town is to remain a ruin forever, never to be rebuilt, 17 and none of the condemned things[c] are to be found in your hands. Then the Lord will turn from his fierce anger, will show you mercy, and will have compassion on you. He will increase your numbers, as he promised on oath to your ancestors- 18 because you obey the Lord your God by keeping all his commands that I am giving you today and doing what is right in his eyes.

Dan: Does God have to impose an punishment for a command of His to remain binding? I would say *no,* a command from a parent is binding even with no threat of punishment. You raise an interesting question/conundrum related to "salvation by faith alone": if we are saved by "faith alone" and can't possibly lose our salvation -- once obtained by "faith alone" -- it is a true statement that (for all practical purposes) *no* "command" is binding on us (except having "faith"(?) in Jesus and forgiving others, because Jesus said He wouldn't forgive us if we don't forgive others.) This leaves aside the question of "election" under Calvinism, which even further divorces human conduct from salvation. I don't believe any of those three things (personal election for salvation, faith-alone salvation, or OSAS), and one evidence I adduce is that all the moral laws predate Moses and survive now in the Christian covenant.

"Concerning Jesus of Nazareth who imagined himself to become the Messiah and was put to death by the court, the Prophet Daniel said already: "also the rebellious sons of thy people will lift themselves up to establish the vision; but they will stumble." (Dan.11,14) And can there be a greater stumbling block than this: All the prophets affirmed that the Messiah would redeem Israel, save them, gather their dispersed and strengthen the commandments, but he caused Israel to be destroyed by the sword, their remnants to be dispersed, and humiliated, their changing the Torah, and misleading the world to serve gods besides the Lord." - Maimonides

This is nonsense. Jesus was a Torah teacher. He told His disciples to follow Him and do the same. He even told them to obey the scribes and Pharisees when they sat in Moses' seat. The Feasts of YHVH are the prophetic shadows of Messiah. The events in Jesus' life are written in the Law. Luke 24:44 Fulfillment of the Law is not the eradication of it. It is the authentication of Jesus' ministry. Swine eaters are destroyed when Jesus returns. Isaiah 66:17 If eating a garbage truck is your idea of wise, go for it. But, don't claim Jesus approved it or approved of it.

Agreed! If he did, it would make him a false prophet based on Duet 13. Can you imagine that God all through the time of Moses tells his people that after Moses' death, he would send them a Prophet like Moses (Messiah) and that they should listen to and follow him, only to have that Prophet undo almost everything that the Father put in place through Moses? Mike M In the New Testament, God changed the rules because they were no longer necessary. Jesus’ birth, death, and return to life changed everything. Major portions of the old Mosaic Law, such as the sacrifices, were no longer in effect. The dietary laws were changed, and God indicated this to Peter during a dream. The event is recorded in the book of Acts., Acts 10:9-15 says.."The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour. 10 Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they made ready, he fell into a trance 11 and saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth. 12 In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air. 13 And a voice came to him, “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.” 14 But Peter said, “Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean.” 15 And a voice spoke to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed you must not call common.” 16 This was done three times. And the object was taken up into heaven again. God had sent Peter this vision about the foods to let him know that “What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy.” If God changes the rules, then it is okay. The Jews had made many rules that violated God’s desires. One of the rules they had created said that Gentiles were unclean. Later, in Acts 10, God also showed Peter that Gentiles were not unclean either. In fact, they never were. Peter discovered two very amazing truths. Both Gentiles and all types of foods were not unholy. Both were okay. God loves both Jews and Gentiles and He enjoys giving us good things.

William Pleasant-Sloan I randomly came back to your reply while circling back to these videos. I never get a notification. I know this is 9 months late but I'll offer you a quick response. Plain and simple, the verses you're referring to are not talking about food or what animals are clean or unclean to eat. It is speaking about people. We know this because Peter reveals the actual meaning of the vision given by God in Acts 10:28, a few verses down. 28 "And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean." (btw, it was only unlawful in the Talmud not in the Torah) This is the actual meaning of the vision. That he should not call ANY MAN common or unclean. Even though he's referencing animals in the vision, he's talking about people. It's only used as an analogy. Peter was even perplexed by it because it seemed to go against scripture.

If you guys don't think Jesus meant to abolish the Levitical law you should read Luke 16:16. These laws never applied to anyone except the Jews anyway----unless you are Jewish why do you feel any obligation to keep these laws? And do you really keep these laws? Do you really not light your heater or crank your car on Saturdays? When's the last time you offered up an animal sacrifice?

False worship to YHVH is idolatry I believe that many christians will not make it because they are in a state of idolatry. Many christians are unaware that they are committing idolatry because they don’t truly know what it looks like. Idolatry is the act of worshipping the wrong god, or worshipping the right God the wrong way. When a christian worships God, he is required to worship Him exactly as he commands. Anyone that adds to or takes away from God’s instructions, and claims that it’s his will, is an idolater. For example, if I say that God requires you to speak in tongues before you can receive the holy spirit, I would be guilty of practicing idolatry, because I would be adding to Gods worship instructions, thus creating my own god who’s instructions contradicts those written in the bible. The most prevalent act of idolatry in the modern church is the teaching that Jesus abolished the Mosaic laws at the cross. This destructive teaching has sealed the fate of millions of christians all over the world that believe it. Many well meaning christians have been deceived into believing that the sacrificial system and the priesthood that provides the service is no longer an acceptable way to worship God. My claims can be easily proven in the book of Acts chapter 21 with the telling of the story of Paul and the four christian men who were purifying themselves(being sprinkled on the 3rd and 7th day with spring water that has red heifer ashes in it) at the Temple after failing to successfully complete their Nazarite vows to God. Also 2 1/2 years earlier Paul went under a nazarite vow in Cenchrea, in Acts 18:18. The Nazarite vow was a vow that only the most devoted followers of God would do to set themselves apart from the rest of the congregation as the ultimate act of worship to God. The Nazarite could not eat any grape products or become defiled by coming into contact with a dead body. Becoming a Nazarite was the holiest act of worship that anyone could do for God at the time that Jesus walked the earth. So when we see the Jerusalem council commanding Paul to participate in a ceremonial law that God allegedly no longer accepts as a legitimate worship practice, we need to start asking some tough questions. If worshipping the right God the wrong way is idolatry, then why would the Jerusalem council force Paul to commit a blatant act of idolatry, by worshipping the right God the wrong way at the Temple? Why would Paul remain silent to this abomination, if he knew that this type of worship to God is no longer accepted by Him as proper worship for christians? Why were four christians trying to purify themselves(resetting their Nazarite vows so that they could do it again?), at the Temple, after unsuccessfully attempting to worship God the wrong way, with an obsolete Mosaic law? Why was Paul performing a nazarite vow in Cenchrea that God no longer recognizes as the ultimate act of worship to Him? Was Paul that unaware that he was committing an act of idolatry when he tried to worship the right God the wrong way? These and many more questions need to be asked by all christians that seek to know if they will be in the resurrection or not because of the way that they are walking out God’s instructions. We all know that God hates idolaters because he’s promised that they will never inherit the kingdom. Form seems to matter to our God, so are we doing his will or our own will? Shalom… eccelmira.org/articles/idolatry-worship-form-matters-part-1/

Some are and some aren't, depending on what you like. Some Christians are against tatoos, polygamy, slavery, men piercings, etc... Most Christians still believe in th 10% tithe, still trim their beards, still wear two different fabrics, etc... Paul said women should cover their heads, men shouldn't have long hair, women should stay quiet in church, etc... Paul's focus was on the gentiles but he aske Timothy to be circumcised in order to please the Jews... I could go on, but I'll stop here. Christians will always cherry-pick. I'm aware. Still wanted to provide scripture because that's how you prove all things. Also I've learned quite a few things from them. 1 John 3:4 - "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law." That's new testament- so I now know that we still follow the law. Even though the law is not salvation- it is the standard that we can not obtain. Jesus came to fulfill the law, do away with it. We should desire to keep the commands of the Father if we love him. Sorry if I went off on a tangent- I know exactly what you mean though. They believe that the Father only deals with Israel, no other nation. And it's TRUE. But I think where they miss the target is the misunderstanding of gentiles being grafted in the fig tree (Israel). Being a Jew does not save you. Keeping the commandments/laws do not save you. Only Jesus by grace through faith saves. But that does not grant us permission to disobey the law: Romans 6:15- "What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid." -------------- I used to think there was a difference between laws and commandments, but there is no difference. I used to think that the commandments were only valid and the laws are insignificant and of old. I would think... "yes.. not murdering makes sense, but eating pork? I don't see why that's a big deal". Sorry to say, you don't get to make that choice. Your Father told you what to do. If you love him, obey. It should not be burdensome to keep his commands. Infact, if we love him like we say we do- we should be eager to do his will. Not ours. Anyway. That's just one thing that I've learned from them. You won't hear that from majority of congregations. And really- I'm anti-congregation. There is no location of a church or temple other than our bodies. Whenever someone tells me I need to go church to get closer to God. I quickly understand that they don't understand what Jesus said by him building it up in 3 days. This world is upside down.

When they started eating animals they separated themselves from God. And the bible is the rest of the story. Men..with deadened hearts and clouded minds. They even altered the 10 commandments. When God said Not to Kill..He meant animals too. Your men, who loved to eat their meat took that out. The people who wrote the bible were wicked men. Sorry.
