I am here as well. I spent months thinking nothing but “thank you God” in my head as a reaction to everything lol

I struggle with a lot of this overthinking. You're definitely right about turning every decision into an "ask pastor John" moment, it makes me go insane. This was helpful, thank you

David Leitz Thank God I'm not the only one! I over think everything lately and it drives me crazy. I felt so alone in that too. If anything it seems like everyone doesn't think enough but I know that my over thinking is unhealthy as well so I'm trying to work on that.

David Leitz no worries Brother in Christ. Just know it is the enemy, your adversary who seeks to make the walk with Christ seem complicated. As long as we do our best walking with Him and know that, when we fall short, we CONFESS and REPENT, He is faithful to forgive us. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Only He thru faith can change and perfect you, no amount of good works without faith can do it so trust in Yeshua! I struggle with it too, it's ok :)

This episode helped me so much. I’ve been stuck for so long in a never-ending cycle of overthinking without ever realizing it was based in fear. I thought I was just “studying to show thyself approved”, but it stemmed from a dark place. Thank you so much and God bless this ministry. ❤️

The Danny Gokey song “Keep it real simple” has really helped me. Whenever I get into that over-thinking phase, I tell myself, “love God and love people”. Love God by keeping his commands, staying in his word and in relationship with him.... love people by treating every situation with people as a “love first” moment.. Simple... sort of haha

So, as an overthinker myself, the purpose of studying God's word is to essentially expose myself to the word. In doing so, it reprograms my heart so that when I live life the rest of the time (spontaneously), I'll respond to situations as Jesus would want me to. Sound about right? Kind of like building muscle memory when learning how to play a sport?
@lucasstadheim1514 Жыл бұрын
Yes but you should read your bible mainly to know God, to see Jesus (he is the word).. three years later but better late than never

one of the best spiritual lessons I ever learned was within a conversation I had with a friend years ago - God wants our dependency, but not a co-dependency. it’s sort of insulting to the fact that He has created us with faculties in His likeness, to be co-dependent on God. however I do think it is good to constantly check and reevaluate your motives in life

I had to start writing down my thoughts to keep from getting lost in my head. My mind was very troubled before. Now i see the flaw in my logic and can better identify where i am going wrong.

maybe it depends on how we live in a daily basis. busy christians do not overthink but rather enjoying living the life with jesus christ.
@autisticmystic85407 жыл бұрын
Because I have autism, my words and actions are not spontaneous, as I have to analyze my situation, so it doesn't "flow like a river", it's more choppy, but I often make hasty decisions in my words when I really should consider them more
@davidguevara3516 жыл бұрын
Autistic Christian Egalitarian it’s ok because at least your trying and through God’s grace it will become more easier and natural. Just keep your eyes on Jesus the prince of peace who gives “peace that surpasses all understanding” and I know you will overcome through Christ. I will be praying for you sister, God bless you!
@TonyGlss3 жыл бұрын
His yoke is easy and his burden is light. Cast all of your burdens onto him, for he cares for you. Prayer is also very important. Prayer to our Heavenly Father is powerful and it can break any strongholds. Ask God to help you in prayer and receive the peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. His grace is sufficient for you and HIS power is made perfect in your weakness. All Glory to the Most High God. I will be praying for you and many others. God bless you and stay faithful to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus loves you 🙏🏾

I have a problem with overthinking, however I know of "take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ" 2 Corinthians 10:5" and I'm constantly focusing on whatever intrusive thought comes to my mind. Which is causing this OCD of fearing I'm gonna sin, or fearing I'm gonna commit the unforgivable sin or fearing I'm gonna curse God or fearing I didn't understand scripture right. I'm gonna get some therapy though.

Yes! Evangelicals overthink a lot.
@amanda83997 жыл бұрын
Dev M life is a serious gift. GOD is Holy and we want to honor HIM in everything we do ,say, and think through the HOLY SPIRIT. We know GOD isn't playing games.
@Mon3199_7 жыл бұрын
Amanda 83 Evangelicals do overthink things. I am an evangelical and I'm always frustrated at how complicated we make things. Christians worldwide thinks we are silly and I'd have to agree. God is Holy, but he hasn't put the yokes on my back evangelicalism has. We reject a pope, but let men like John Piper tell us how to use humor, free time, computers, and such. That's overthinking. Thanks for over spiritualizing a very simple comment that I made. Prime example of overthinking things.
@amanda83997 жыл бұрын
Dev M lol, John Piper gives great Biblical centered preaching and just so happens to use that knowledge to answer relevant questions to 2017. If John Piper ever says he can forgive sins then that would put him in the category of the blasphemous pope. Haven't heard or seen him do that yet. If you think my comment was "over spiritualizing" then I'd have to say...have you met this Holy GOD yet?Peace in HIM✝
@Mon3199_7 жыл бұрын
Amanda 83 Hmmm, okay. I've about lost my rope with evangelicals. Catholicism or Orthodoxy seem more well rounded at this point, and men like Piper and you (a woman) make it so.
@amanda83997 жыл бұрын
Can you tell me what specific things evangelicals do that rub you wrong? It seems that you are painting with a broad brush...you're saying ALL evangelicals?
