Why do you think they claimed Jesus turned water into wine ?
@truth83073 жыл бұрын
All part of the trick, check these 20 evidence especially the first 4 and the last paragraph: 20 IRREFUTABLE EVIDENCE that proved Bible God is likely FAKE, don't miss the last paragraph that explains them all: 1) A creator god claimed to be all mighty should be the oldest and only religion but all the pagans, Greek, Chinese, Hinduism religions existed earlier. This proved their Creator claim fake. 2) Jesus similarities with Buddha. Maya to Mary, miracle pregnancy to virgin pregnancy, birth during a journey home to from home, prophesied soon after birth, both had a disciple who betrayed them, walked on water, Gautama left the palace at age 29 and Jesus appeared at 29, Gautama became Buddha at 35 and Jesus died and resurrected at around 35 too, Buddha had a big meal while Jesus had a last supper before they died, after they passed away, 500 arahants witnessed compilation of Buddha's teachings and over 500 witnesses to Jesus's resurrection etc. All coincidental ? Beside Buddha, Jesus was also found to be copied from other figures. Surely they can't be ALL coincidental. 3) Many of the Bible's mythologies was copied from older pagans, Greek, Egyptian or Hinduism religions(note the names too) E.g. Adam & Eve from Atman and Jiva, in Hinduism, big flood and survivor Noah/3 sons same as Manu/3 sons although cause of flood is different. Even the names of Abraham and wife/sister Sarah close to Brahma and Saraswathi beside having quite similar story. Regardless of which religion copied which, it proved this god is NOT the only true god or all mighty as it doesn't makes sense for an ALMIGHTY GOD to create or allow more copies or religions. 4) Why should a true all mighty and all knowing God allowed their people to branch off and kill their parent religion Judaism or Zoroatruism ? "Free will" as an excuse is not acceptable as earlier they claimed their God killed all people with a big flood(without freewill) because they sinned. 5) The way they collect tithings during Sunday mass is so tricky. They know people will be shy not to pay or tend to pay more when others could be watching. This is why they don't just use a stationed money box like Buddhism, Hinduism or Chinese temples where people can donate anytime. Catholics and Islam made it even bigger by suggesting donation of a certain percentage of their income. 6) The Bible condemned non-followers, clearly mentioned in Mark's words 16:16. Why should a Creator God's religion condemn non-believers when in the first place, they claimed their God created the world? Isn't this like playing both sides of the same coin, both good and evil ? 7)Not knowing why or how the world exists don't mean that it was created by a god. Now "Creator" idea got stale, they use "Intelligent Design" What is so intelligent in its design? If people don't need to go to toilet and don't have unpleasant feelings or sufferings, then I will call it an intelligent design. 8)Wisdom, mindfulness and meditaion are not taught or encouraged by them because they don't want their followers' minds to be clearer and wiser. 9)The Bible copied very much from older religions but not the theory of karma because karma idea defeats the purpose of the all mighty God and it will prevent people from doing bad deeds. Saying God love or forgive sins is a trick playing both sides of the coin. 10) The way the church preached and claimed simply lacked substance and logic. If you ask them intelligent question, they will always be evasive and say you are a troll or using the same circular reasoning tactic. 11) It don't makes sense to claim that only their believers will go to heaven and others don't since they claimed their God created all people. Such claim is an insult to other religions and cultures and caused people to divide. A good religion should be non-sectarian, secular and treat all people equally. 12)Most major festivals and holidays related to Christianity are fake including Christmas(Jesus can't be born in winter), Easter, Thanksgiving, Good Friday, All Souls, Halloween and even New Year are copied from paganism. 13) Using fear like hell or "end of the world" every 2 years but we are still here. 14) The fraud case of Mother Teresa(Google it) and after she died, those money she collected was not returned to India. 15)If their God is all-mighty, why need missionaries to convert others ? 16) The ongoing child sex abuses committed by the pastors/priests that I read so often. 17) The Bible is full of lust(Solomon's part), evil and violence. Their God killed countless people when Satan only killed a few. 18) The Bible condemned dogs because they know dogs are man's best friend. Making men lonely is the best way to keep them dependant on religion. 19) If God created everybody, why then condemn LGBT or other religions ? 20) Incidents, eg: (a) U.S., U.K, France, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Mexico are all high Christianity population countries and more people died from Covid-19, over 400K Americans alone !! (b)The Air Asia plane crash of killed 41 church members, 2 missionaries and their few month old baby. Only 1 reason can tie up all 20 points above, this God was man-made to con or control people.

1. Is it a sin? If you can’t find your answer in the first question, ask the second: 2. Is it wise?
@McScott766 жыл бұрын
It may be wise. It depends on the context. Here's an example... I come home worn out and stressed from work. I really want to spend quality time with my kids, but I know I'm physically and emotionally exhausted and am likely to be impatient or short with them. I pour a glass of wine and sip it as I ask God to give me patience. The wine helps me unwind and reset my mind before I play with my kids. To me, that's a wise use of wine. And before you go on some tangent about how "you shouldn't need wine... you should just trust God"... let me ask you, if you had a headache would you take Advil or trust God? Do you drink coffee in the morning to help "pick you up?" Why not just trust God? Wine has medicinal properties. It helps calm nerves. So no, it is not necessarily sin to drink. And yes, it may be wise. It all depends on context.

Frederick Kado Sure, it’s possible. Just like it’s possible to ask God to take away a headache and then take a couple of Advil too. It was also possible for Timothy to ask God to heal his chronic ailments, and yet Paul advised he drink wine for his stomach (1 Timothy 5:23). The Pharisees claimed that Jesus was a drunkard because he chose to drink wine after making the opposite indictment of John the Baptist, claiming he had a demon because of his abstinence and odd dietary practices (Luke 7:33-34). Was it “unwise” for Jesus to drink wine, knowing the Pharisees would claim he abused it? Pharisees will always find a way to project their legalism on other believers. Not much has changed in 2,000 years.

@@McScott76 If we try to understand Jesus in biblical context more, you will be never comprehend him. There are other contexts such as Jesus cursing the tree that did not bear fruit on his way to Jerusalem. Leave the pharisees aside, we dont have to do the same and go cursing every tree that does not bear fruit. You and I both know that God's grace can heal anyone and you wouldnt need wine to help the healing. Also wine during Jesus time was 8 parts water to one part wine which is way weaker than the strength of wine existing in modern day. To compare wine without studying the alcohol and fermentation processes in Jesus time vs modern day would lead to a whole new misleading conclusion. Wine was also a preferrable beverage at that time since water was not as safe for drinking. I gather you have not looked into this pockets of research any further. Drinking water standards were not as safe as it is in modern day. The fermentation involved in making wine made it a safe option and therefore it was the preferred beverage. Another interesting factor is that the ratio of 8 parts of water to one part wine made it safe for children to consume it without being intoxicated. You would need 21 standard cups to be intoxicated. The pharisees are people who only studied the law without studying aspects beyond the law. That lack of additional knowledge leads them to lack a proper understanding of the way Jesus enacted himself. We have full knowledge of the truth, lets not obstruct it with our own bias.

I think its as simple as this. If you drink wine, beer or even the hard stuff. If you catch a slight buzz and your reading a book, watching a great movie, or just sitting on your patio enjoying a relaxing evening, this is not a sin. Unless, the alcohol causes you to suddenly stand up and start flipping off passing cars, yelling obscenities at your neighbors, or beating your wife and kids. If you wouldn't normally do these things, and you let the alcohol influence you into doing these things, then you let the alcohol CAUSE you to sin. You are still responsible for your actions even when your drunk or buzzed. You won't be able to tell God that you wouldn't normally have done that because you were drunk. You are responsible for your actions at all times. Drunk or not. However, if you can drink a little alcohol and not let it cause you to do sinful things, then its not a sin. If you drink and become an addicted drunk, then that too is obviously a sin because the Bible says all drunks are condemened. Does drinking a little alcohol make you a drunk? I don't think so because like the pastor said, even Jesus made and drank wine. Was he a drunk? Of course not. Also, I have read somewhere that at the founding of the USA, everyone drank beer because the water was impure and the beer was. So did all our founding fathers, mothers go to hell because they drank beer? I doubt it

In the Gospel of Matthew (11:18-19), Jesus, comparing himself with John the Baptist, says "for John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon’; the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ " In the Gospel of Luke, (7:33-34), Jesus says " For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon’; the Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ " Christian theology holds that Jesus was without sin. The Bible, which is supposedly the ultimate authority on faith and morals for Christians, is also quite clear that Jesus consumed alcohol. Indeed, in the Gospel of John (2:6-7), while attending a wedding feast, Jesus turns the water in six stone jars, each holding between 20 and the 30 gallons, into wine. In and of itself, there is no basis whatever in the gospels for concluding that Jesus considered the consumption of alcohol a sin. What is unacceptable is the abuse of alcohol in all its forms, including the idolatry of booze.

Many people i know drink alcohol to feel the effects, not just because it taste good. I am trying to reach out locally with many people suffering and lacking basic life needs, like homeless, and jobless people, and inviting them to different churches and bible studies, and the biggest common denominator, is alcohol. Also there is the spiritual aspect of using alcohol. Many of these people using alcohol are in bondage and trying to cover up past traumas and current hardships, and in doing so, they are opening spiritual doors for demonic spirits to dwell within them and feed off of them and that is why helping them with there daily needs is never going to cure them, only inviting the Holy Spirit into them through faith in Christ Jesus can do that. This should be our main focus while reaching out to those people suffering in bondage to alcohol, as well as all other mind altering, body destroying, man man and natural chemicals and substances. If Jesus allows us to alter our minds with alcohol, then does He teach us how much is acceptable before it is a sin? Either way, you must admit that alcohol has caused much harm and many deaths and hardships and ruined many lives. Why would any Christian want to partake in this destructive, man made, mind altering, chemical? The word “alcohol” is said to come from the arabic term “Al-khul” which means “BODY-EATING SPIRIT” , also, is the origin of the term” ghoul. In alchemy, alcohol is used to extract the soul essence of an entity. Hence its’ use in extracting essences for essential oils, and the sterilization of medical instruments. By consuming alcohol into the body, it in effect extracts the very essence of the soul, allowing the body to be more susceptible to neighboring entities most of which are of low frequencies. why do you think we call certain alcoholic beverages “SPIRITS”? If Jesus allows us to alter our minds with a processed man made fermented chemical substance like wine, where did he permit the use of beer or grain alcohol? When did Jesus turn water into beer or rum or vodka? We have allowed major jumps in conclusion based on one or two bible verses like Paul encouraging all Christians to drink wine because of our stomach pain, but that was Paul writing directly to Timothy, but we have incorporated that verse to promote and allow the use of all alcohol. Either way, you must admit that alcohol has caused much harm and many deaths and hardships and ruined many lives. Why would any Christian want to partake in this destructive, man made, mind altering, chemical? In the mighty and wonderful name of our Lord God King and Saviuor: Christ Jesus, we pray: Amen, Hallelujah, Peace, and Maranatha.

Think about that! I just wish more people would use wisdom and have much more balance in their approach to who is a sinner and who isnt. The bible is clear on a lot of issues but perhaps the largest sin of all sins is the omitted sins of the believers. Meaning, all the Christians who are NOT doing what they are supposed to be doing. Its those same christians that love to be the judge of everyone all the while marching toward their own judgement. I find it humorous that all the people who adamantly campaign against alcohol and say that the miraculous wedding wine was grape juice completely miss the alcoholic nuance to the miracle. When the man said to Jesus that you normally serve the good wine first and then the poor wine, that’s a trick party hosts use to impress their guests. Serve them high quality wine at the beginning and then once their senses are dulled a little you can serve poor wine and they have a hard time telling the difference. It would never make sense to serve Non-alcoholic wine in that way, but the anti-alcohol campaigners often don’t understand that.

I am indeed. I typically abstain from alcohol myself and I've seen great destruction that is alcohol related, I say related because the substance itself does not destroy, the persons indwelling sin does. Regardless that still does not mean that it is a sin to drink alcohol, it is very clearly indicated in the scriptures that it is not, alcoholism is a sin, gluttony is a sin, but the mere consumption of alcohol is not a sin. Does this mean you SHOULD drink? No, there are a vast number of people who should abstain from drinking all together, there are people who shouldn't ever gamble because they simply can't handle it. Gambling is not a sin either, it can be, but it's not inherently. Alcohol, Gambling & Weapons also cause a whole lot of harm in the world, except they really don't, our sin causes the harm, the vehicle is simply different.

I appreciate your comments and I agree that the Bible does not prohibit drinking alcoholic drinks, only drunkenness. What is drunkenness? I submit that a person doesn't have to be falling down and puking to be drunk. I believe that anytime a person drinks enough that his/her Christian testimony is compromised even in the smallest way it becomes sin. If we compromise our Christian testimony in what we think, what we say or what we do; we have sinned. So where is the line? It is very difficult if not impossible to know. We will never see the data but I'm willing to argue that if we had data it would show that many women have sex before marriage the first time after having consumed alcohol. I would argue that using alcohol will never bring anything good into your life but it may destroy your life. It is also worth noting that being a teetotaler is something that is presented in being very positive sense that it honors God. We see this in the stories of Samson and John the Baptist. By the way, Jesus changing the water into wine is not a commandment to consume alcohol. I may be wrong but I think sugar is added in the wine making process today to increase the alcoholic content. So the strong wine of Jesus day would have had less alcohol than today's wine. I have known many Christians who considered themselves to be moderate users of alcohol but many of these people would drink too much on rare occasions. The other thing I saw was that as many of these people got older the one glass of wine or the one beer practice became several beers or several glasses of wine. Also, the rationalization that alcoholism is a disease in todays culture; It is part of the victim thinking; having a sickness is not a sin; I have several friends who truly believe they were born with the disease of alcoholism. Well, I can say that I'm immune to this disease.... BTW, some of these people basically make the AA group their church... God's cure for alcoholism is not a 12 step program.... It is a two-step program! One more example, if someday one of my children or grandchildren (I'm almost 81) get drunk and die in an auto accident I will glad for the example I have set for them.... I would say two things in finishing; Using alcohol will never never never bring anything positive into your life! If you are a Christian I think you should do some serious praying before deciding that you're going to make even the moderate use of alcohol part of your life.

I think getting drunk is the issue, but alcohol does have the tendency to get addictive.
@taylerthompson75593 жыл бұрын
The thing that is hard is that the North American culture of alcohol is so different compared to Europeans or even the ancient times in which Jesus lived. In these cultures, alcohol is seen much more as a staple food and something to be used in celebration. Now in North America, it has so much more negative connotations and is used much less responsibly. If you get drunk all the time and put the chase of liquor over chasing the spirit then you are living in sin. Being drunk also clouds the mind and can pull you into the flesh of the world.

Jesus did turn water into wine because the king comment Jesus for saving the best wine for the end of the party because after people drinking wine and get drunk would at the end of the party would not care how good the wine was there drunk, I say a drink of alcohol like beer or wine is not sin, drinking to the point of getting drunk is wrong or sin.

What is sufficient for my Lord is sufficient for me. He drank with the sinners (albeit he did not get drunk from our awareness), and so to evangelize the sinners one must in some respect get down on their level. To drink too much is to get drunk. I, however, have prayed for the drunkness to depart during a party and in doing so, I was able to spread the Gospel somewhat and my thoughts were immediately more coherent and less selfish in nature. Also, do not forget that the blood of Christ is symbolized by wine (or the fruits of the vine). The danger is the love of alcohol and being drunk, for to love the drink is to place it above The Most High in your life. I have seen many go down this path, even today. Therefore, drinking in GENERAL isn't the danger; drinking with the purpose or DESIRE to BE DRUNK is necessarily the state of being a DRUNKARD, and so lies the danger in alcohol.

Rabbis were not to drink and always to be of sober mind so as to be ready to teach. Jesus drank juice not wine. There are other posts about this. There are historical Info about translation and the Hebrews had multiple words for varying grades of juice.

Drinking to get buzzed is the point. You don't take medicine hoping it has no effect. You don't eat something you enjoy hoping it won't be enjoyable. There is ZERO teaching in the bible that indicates it's wrong to drink wine for pleasure. Drunkenness is a sin. That's clear. But adding to scripture to justify our preference or bias is just legalism.

I think we have to understand that the wine of today is not the same as the wine of Biblical times. Their wine was heavily watered down to the point that you’d likely need to drink 22 glasses in order to equal two modern day alcoholic drinks. The Bible also makes a distinction between wine and strong drink, with strong drink being un-mixed wine (not diluted with water). Remember that in those times, water wasn’t always healthy to drink and took great lengths to get it to be so and so it was common to mix it with a purifying agent like wine. Simply put, our modern day wine and wine in that time are two very different things. The Bible warns often of strong drink with high alcoholic content and its effects on us.

Why even drink at all? Isn't it better to refrain?? You can easily unintentionally have too much and get drunk. If just looking at someone with lustful thoughts is the same as committing adultery, wouldn't that mean drinking because you want to feel it's effect is the same thing as being drunk? Im just curious. Any time that I have drank at all since coming to Christ, I have been convicted.

Drinking alcohol cant be compared to the sins that can be a violation just by thought i.e. looking with lust=adultery, unjust anger=murder. Rather it would be considered a sin of indulgence and more comparable with the sin of gluttony. The Biblical principle being moderation in keeping self-control. However, I would only suggest a mature Christian should partake at all because of a few guidelines we see in scripture. Romans 14 tells us that we are not to partake of flesh or wine if it causes a brother to stumble or weakens a brother. In 1 Cor ch 10 speaks of sins of conscience. If you feel anything is a sin then do not do it because it will be a sin for you. There may be immature or weak Christians that cant handle drinking at all and will not do so without sinning, in which case, I believe the Holy Spirit lets them know that it is a sin for them. Likewise, it would be a sin for me to drink in their presence. Same goes for eating meat. If you felt there was something you shouldnt eat, then listen to your conscience and if I was to dine with you, I could not eat it either. (for some that may be pork) Why drink at all? many Christians opt out of drinking at all because we recongnize the Biblical warnings. However, some of us do feel we can have an occasional drink under the right circumstances and enjoy it without sinning at all.

+Jason Mahurin You have a great head on your shoulders brother! Very good exegesis and Biblical understanding. The Word even gives us a very clear definition of where liberty and blessing crosses over to sin and woe. "Who hath *woe? who hath *sorrow? who hath *contentions? who hath *babbling? who hath *wounds without cause? who hath *redness of eyes? They that *tarry *long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. Thine eyes shall behold *strange *women, and thine heart shall *utter *perverse *things. Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast. They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I *felt it not: when shall I awake? I will *seek it yet again." Proverbs 23:29-35 If this is where alcohol always leads you. If you cannot exercise self-control. If alcohol causes damage to you, family or friends... I would err on the side of abstinence. Like you already stated, you must be a mature Christian to understand both sides of the tight-rope. There is blessing, but there is danger in over-indulgance. You know when you are taking it past liberty and into bondage... Once in a while I will have a glass of red wine. But each time I lay strict guidelines. Once I start feeling any type of buzz I stop for a while and let my body metabolize what I drank. I have not been "drunk" in any way, shape or form for many, many years. I don't like being "intoxicated" nor the consequences of heavy drinking... Ever had a hangover? Is it enjoyable? Why bring that on yourself? Live in moderation with the liberty which Christ has given us and your life and walk will be blessed!

+Kristina Glackin, The word Phil 2:12-13 teaches us to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, for it's God working in us the willing and doing of HIS good pleasure. I would also state, Matthew 18:6 says we should not cause one of God's little ones to stumble. Then there is I Thess. 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. All that said, the Word of God does say to layman of the Church not to drink but to not be drunk. But there is a higher standard for those in Ministry James 3:1 & I Tim. 3:2. But Colossians 2:16 states; Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink. Bottom line is, we must take up the Cross daily and die to our selfishness and be controlled by the Holy Spirit. Hope that helps

Jesus drank wine; he turned water into wine for a special occasion. He said: in Matthew 15:11 "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but, that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man." KJV> If you are having a glass of wine for your stomach's sake or with dinner what is the harm? If you are uncomfortable with it, or if you don't like it by all means, DON'T have it. If you are an alcoholic who has reformed, do not put yourself into that again; certainly abstain for your own sake and those around you. But, if you are the average person who can take or leave alcohol, and do not intend getting drunk, just enjoy an occasional glass, I see no reason not to have a little. That's all I have to say. Use your common sense and moderation!

There are people who foodaholics. We call them eating fats. Drink wine, beer if you wish but do not let it take a controll of you. Do not get drunk. Do not get addicted.
