**This is an OLD comment, 2 years old. I have since failed and fallen and sinned and been human but God's grace is sufficiant and as long as you have God you have grace & not everything i appear to say here is true for me right now and some was never a true portrait of the gospel and i apologise for that. Out of the change i list below, the only change that has stayed is peace of mind (lack of negative thinking, but not completely gone) - but even then i still struggle with the physical aspects of anxiety, just not the thoughts anymore. So please take this comment with a pinch of salt, i was in a very spiritual extreme charismatic belief set back when i wrote this, i no longer believe in dreams predicting your future or complete physical freedom from sin as i seem to suggest when i say "all this changed", (because we are of the flesh and the flesh is inherently sinful, it is the soul / spirit that Christ redeemed on the cross, if it were the flesh then we would not be getting a new body when Jesus comes back, and the flesh would not die since sin leads to death, but it does, because its sinful) - Any Changes i have made to the following comment will be in brackets ()** *OLD COMMENT:* I can testify to this, i started reading my Bible everyday at the start of 2020, but it was like a chore and i was still living with severe anxiety and depression, along with a sinful addiction of 8 years, on top of that i had tormenting images in my mind constantly and was living a fear-filled life because of this, But (some of this) changed when i learned back in march that i should pray before i read (really it was because i was starting to get to know God as a person, not just because i prayed before i read), that turning point made me realize the importance of prayer and i was able to overcome all of the above struggles (nope not all of them, in fact most of them are still going and its 2023 now) and have had peace of mind ever since then (that parts true), God has graciously given me many spiritual experiences, including a dream from him that predicted a specific event in my life perfectly (*false belief*: *spiritual experiences/dreams do not happen frequently for anyone in the Bible so i shouldnt have believed they were happening frequently for me*), he speaks to me through His word every couple of days or weeks (*i meant that i understand better what i read in the bible, not that God physically speaks to me because He didnt*) although don't expect him to speak all the time, God has purpose in His silence, praying before i read the Bible is the most notable turning point in my walk (*false*, *the whole walk was important and still is, and getting to know God as a character rather than a concept would be more notable than prayer before reading*), it brought about change in me as i was able to connect with God through his word for the first time in my life, (*"connect with God" meant understand His character through His word*) i was a false convert (*before 2020*) and now i am a truly born again Christian with new desires, changed habits (*false, i still have bad habits*) and a renewed mind (*true, but not a huge spiritual change, and it took a lot more work than i imply here*). So naturally, i highly recommend it☺️

At a conference someone asked how they could keep their "spiritual high" that they felt from the worship and the lessons after they go home. The speaker said God's word is our bread. The delight will wear off but that's okay because it keeps us returning to his word day after day!

I think it should also be said that how you spend time with God THROUGHOUT the day matters as well. I have to set time apart during the day to pray to God or just be still before Him and regather my thoughts and refocus my attention on Him. Joy in God is maintained by a conscious day by day moment by moment abiding in and fellowship with Christ.

Jarmy Fuzble yea you must either be ignorant or a paid bot or troll here to shake peoples faith up and if you knew what you were talking bout you would understand the bible cant condone slavery but im pretty sure you just repeating things you heard from someone else like most atheists do ☺️
@jcf0728993 жыл бұрын
Jarmy Fuzble the bible says any man who steals or kidnaps anybody shall be put to death to how does it condone slavery ? like i said it cant say that and condone slavery at the same time it makes no sense but you just don’t understand what your reading cuss your reading it with a heart of stone instead of a loving kind heart your to busy trying disprove God and talk down on him and make him seen evil that anything you don’t understand that seems like it fits your narrative you go and speak it out not even knowing your wrong or you just copy things you heard from other men like i said but the bible does not condone slavery you just don’t understand what your reading and some translations say servant not slave so like i said and ill say it again the bible does not condone slavery
@jcf0728993 жыл бұрын
Jarmy Fuzble first off i am not a religious person nor did i ever say i followed any religion so your making assumptions now my friend but how bout i bring the whole scripture out so we can read it in context and not out of context you know you could read the whole bible and not understand nothing it says its not about reading it its about understanding it and clearly you don’t understand what your reading but let me break it down for you with the scripture you yourself CLAIMS is a pass for slavery

Earnestly Pray for a receptive heart when we read the Bible. If we do so God will bring about amazing changes in our lives. 1. God will create a supernatural atmosphere and experience. 2. God will Open your heart to see things you would not normally see. 3. God will Open your heart to feel the preciousness of glorious things and the horror of evil things that You would not have otherwise felt. 4. God will work changes in you that you would not otherwise experience. 5. God will provide from time to time the very guidance and leading that we have Ben longing for in regards to the big decisions in your life. 6. God will give you a fresh sense of his reality.

use faith (confidence in the unseen things with hope), that the delight is real and existing even if you feel it’s gone. Do not trust your feeling that you delight is lost, rather focus on His words “My peace is with you”. Take this words by faith to replace your feeling of short lived delights

I have the opposite problem. I was saved and can’t feel satisfied or content when playing video games or watching TV anymore. I feel so stuck because I feel like there’s something better I can do for the Lord but all I do is read and study my Bible. My job is poor and provides me no satisfaction and seems to only drain my soul and keep me away from my family. I’m either working while they’re asleep or I’m sleeping while they’re awake. Thank you pastor John for your advice. I already loved my Bible time since I spend most of my free time not working deep in Bible study, but I have yet to earnestly pray before Bible reading. Truly thank you. If anyone sees this please pray for my beloved Terra, I just recently came to Christ and I want so badly for her to join me in the peace, love, and satisfaction in serving God.

Pastor John's advice today reminded me of Psalm 25:5 - Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day. That's a good prayer to pray before you read the Bible, or, Psalm 119:18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.

Just as this brother highlights,when we focus and saturate our minds on the things of this world we will simply not break into a relationship with Jesus Christ. He has to become the focus of our day and life and until you get there,praise Jesus through everything. Try diligently to refrain from complaining because there are plenty of Old Testament examples of how He hates complaining!! We have so much to be thankful for through Jesus Christ but it takes time to weed out our minds especially living in the United States because we are pampered in comparison to many other countries. Ask God for the very DNA and mind of Jesus Christ daily and thank God almighty for the gift of another day of life because it’s a gift of God’s grace and mercy to overcome sin. Jesus is the savior of sin so active,spiritual fruit of a relationship with Him is actually growing a little at a time to overcome sin through the power of the Holy Spirit 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Brethren I struggle with life in a fallen world like we all do let’s not kid ourselves they are playing hardball out here! As a friend used to say. Rodney Dangerfield would joke and say, yea I’m ok now but you should have seen me last week I was in rough shape! However back to our study, I find myself at such elevated moods and just plain terrific as I am in the midst of my worship to the Lord Jesus Christ that I often feel like I’m ready to go home to be with Him now!Then when I finish my worship I realize that it’s not time to go home to be with him yet and it’s at those moments that I will ask in my mind, Lord why do I still have to stay in this horrible place? This last time as I thought that I immediately felt a warmth in my chest as if He’d put His hand on me and I sensed in my spirit his comforting words which said “this is only temporary soon you’ll be home with me!” Yes, He is that kind and good like the best Father there ever was! And in the meantime I realize I’m here for a purpose a reason and I’ve got work to do for Him! Let’s get on with it! Amen!

You must put your roots deep in Christ, so that when the storms of life come, which they certainly will, you won’t get blown away, ask Jesus into your heart, be born again, read John and read the gospels, don’t ever look for the experience of man or church But look only to Christ, get a prayer life, thank Jesus for calvarys cross, being a Christian isn’t easy, but the rewards to come are so worthwhile Look to no man, look only to Christ, put your faith in Him and what He did for you at calvary

This used to happen to me when I first gave my life to Christ. Every single time I would read the word I would get this huge wave of revelation, as if the word had seven dimensions and I fully understood the concept of the living word.. Now two years later it’s gone, I don’t get that same revelation anymore, only once in a long time. I don’t know what happened. I get so angry and frustrated because all I want is to read the word and for the Lord to renew my thinking and desires and give me huge revelation as before. I prayed and prayed and prayed but it’s just so hard. I don’t know what to do... is there something wrong with me? Did I lose connection with God? Am I no longer special? It’s making me feel like I should just give up, like I’m forever lost and I will be ordinary and not be close to God anymore. I’m so scared because I don’t ever want to lose Him. I don’t know what to do anymore... I just read the word and hope for a revelation... I’m scared, I’m anxious, I feel like I’m thrown away... 😭

Never forget all the trouble that Jesus went through to save your soul when He died on the cross. Why would He ever forsake you now?Don't let the devil put thoughts into your mind telling you you're not sufficient. Expect that your desire may fade often, but seek Him anew everyday. Seek out those places where you feel His presence the most. And follow what the guy says on this video. Hang in there, and reach out to fellow Christians. God will answer your sincere calling.

I noticed that all of the negative feelings in your comment are just that - the way you FEEL. I'm not blaming you, that's how we're used to figuring stuff out - with our feelings :-) but our salvation doesn't rely on our feelings - we KNOW that we're ok with God thanks to the perfect righteousness of Jesus which we can take advantage of when we know him as our saviour, even when we don't FEEL like that's true anymore :-) that's what faith is, holding onto what we know is true even when our feelings and actions are failing (which they often do, we're human and sinful). When you feel like that, it helps to read some scriptures like the ending of Romans 8 to remind yourself of the truth. And obviously talking to God about it, thanking him that you know his love for you is unchanged, even when your feelings may tell you otherwise, because he says that's the way it is :-)

This is such a great tip to enhance your delight and experience. That prayer opens the word to becoming a reality! You feel, you see, and become fascinated with the he supernatural world that the Bible shows us! It’s marveling. The Bible is to obtain the wisdom , and understanding, but it is very entertaining when you’re studying the deep truths of the universe. From the Nephilims, To The Life of Jesus doing all these glorious acts in the face or evil , to the descriptions of judgment and the beings of heaven and the experience he had. I mean it’ll never end! It fascinating .

Remember the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom... In order to understand God's word you can't decipher it through your own intellect it's the condition of your heart... The Lord doesn't speak to your head He speaks to your heart, understand that first... If you expect angels to rise and fall and the earth to quake and your body to light up like E.t phone home then you have no clue what spirituality is...spirituality is obeying His commandments but I could on and on but I might just get puffed up in my flesh and that will not be good flesh is no good

Do you remember brothers and sisters the life you led before you were saved? Before you tasted how good the Lord is? (1 Peter 2:3) Do you remember how you based many of your decisions on how you felt? And some of those decisions caused you to sin? So, please remember...Don't base your decision to follow the Lord on how you feel. Even if you do not feel the Holy Spirit moving you, please press on in your faith. (The substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1)

I struggle with reading and not praying. I have been trying but i have bot had any sort of longing for the bible, i have to force myself to read the word, and i force myself to think about god. I view christianity as a duty and not a delight, I have been praying for almost a year and nothing has changed. Its like i trust God will deliver me in my mind, but i dont understand him, his religion, or his ways or even accept some of them in my heart.

We all have sinned and fell short of the glory to God. The problem is, that God is holy and doesn’t live with sin. So we all deserve to go to hell, but Jesus paid the price so you don’t have to. All you have to do is confess Jesus as your savior and repent (turn from all sin) and you’ll be forgiven and on the way to heaven.

Anyone’s delight in God falters because they don’t spend enough time in His company. With anyone who you may want a relationship, you will want to give them lots of your best time. When you do that with God, you will find the core desires of your heart will change and he will then be in a position to give you the desires of your heart. See Psalm 37 for further details.
