A Couple questions - 1. What happened to the drum set? that was one of my favorite things about your office! 2. what kind of turntable do you have there? do you actually spin vinyl or is it just for a backdrop piece? 3. what have you shot with the RED? do you film stuff free lance or have other work we could see?....oh and that Old School Ludwig Logo/Throne is awesome!
@tombuck2 жыл бұрын
All great questions! I injured my foot a while back, so I haven't been able to play the drums as much since then. I moved the set to another room for now just to free up some space in here. I miss it in the background, but I was super tired of constantly tripping over things. The turntable is an Audio Technica something or other. Nothing fancy, but it's pretty great! I just like listening to albums while I work sometimes. And the RED was a gift from a friend a few months ago, so I've just done a few "practice" sequences with it, but nothing too crazy. It's super cool to just have this famous camera and the image quality is still pretty fantastic all these years later, but it's definitely not user friendly or super quick/easy to set up.😬

Thanks for the keyboard recommendation, I hate the one I bought. Will you be doing a full review of the Blackmagic camera? I seem to recall other BM cameras are never great in low light which is unhelpful for an ENG camera where you can’t always control lighting in the situations you film in.

I was planning to do a review on it, but already had to return it. I did take a ton of notes and footage though, so who knows. I mainly borrowed it just to learn a bit more about BM cameras. It wasn't terrible in low light, but it also wasn't anywhere near something like a Sony mirrorless.

Yep, it was the NTG. I recently got the Sony ECM-B1M, which is absolutely amazing if you're using a compatible Sony camera.
@saleh35212 жыл бұрын
@@tombuck What plugins do you use with it. and how did u edit it in your editing software? Because this video and your other NTG review videos sound better than other reviews. In other reviews it sounds loud and rough and not clean, crisp and smooth. Also about clipping. I saw you in mark bennett's video about the clipping problem. How did u fix it and deal with it? Because that seem a problem that so many people complain about it. Do you edit it out or what? And in that mark bennett's video even tho he said he fixed the clipping by using the -20db pad. it still sounded rough and loud and not good to my ears. I had to turn down the volume. You can hear it throughout the video but it became SO BAD in the 2:40 minute mark and onwards. This is my theory. speaking of that, i noticed some patterns while watching those review videos. When the NTG is boomed up that is when it starts to be rough and very loud but when its infront of you or on a stand below you, then that is when sounds clean and crisp. This video is an example for that. And your NTG vs GO 2 also is an example when you had them close to you on a stand. And in your Deity VO-7u review when you compared them with the NTG and GO 2 they sounded amazing again. Im not saying that when you boom them up they sound bad. In your videos. They still sound great. But in other reviews i saw that when people boom them uo its not good. Maybe my theory is not correct. And its more about where and how you use the mic. And the room sound treated or not and so on. But this is just what i noticed watch videos about the mic

Tom: it doesn’t bother you when using a non-Apple Monitor with your Mac? Whenever I use a 3rd party monitor with my MacBook Pro laptop, the text is not as clear as when using it with an Apple-branded monitor. Apple removed an option to adjust sub-pixel antialiasing, making the text now blurry/fuzzy looking on other monitors. It drives me crazy.

I haven’t had any problems. I’m always impress with Apple displays when I use them though! Although I think their actual panels are either Samsung or LG. 🤔
