Same here. There were too many good hard rock bands in that 1978-80 time period to continue wishing for KISS to get back to being a rock band. There were the bands you mentioned, plus early Def Leppard, Scorpions, Rainbow, Thin Lizzy and UFO. I got into the first two New England albums, too.

I've been a super kiss fan since 76 and I've never seen some of these pics. I thought I've seen everything but wow there were a lot I haven't seen I like how genes rarely seen version 1 of his dynasty costume was shown. I like version 2 more but it was cool looking at number 1. I heard only one dynasty tour show had gene in the first costume that being opening night of tour. Then number two debuted.

I personally hate over 95% of the songs "Desmond Child" wrote. But I liked "I was Made For Lovin' You" But I can't say I loved it. Kiss songs he wrote: "I Was Made For Lovin' You" "I've Had Enough (Into the Fire)" "Heaven's on Fire" "Under the Gun" "King of the Mountain" "Who Wants to Be Lonely" "I'm Alive" "Radar for Love" "Uh! All Night" "Bang Bang You" "My Way" "Reason to Live" "You Love Me to Hate You" "Let's Put The X In Sex" "(You Make Me) Rock Hard" "Hide Your Heart" I hated all of them except "I was Made For Loving You." 10 songs for "Ratt" and I hated all 10 of them 12 songs for the "Scorpions" I hate every one Aerosmith "Heart's Done Time" "Dude (Looks Like a Lady)" "Angel" "What It Takes" "Flesh" "Crazy" "Hole in My Soul" "Ain't That a Bitch" Hated all of them. So I'm not a fan of "Desmond Child"

Desmond Child did a lot of shit. Great stuff. The best part of his work is how transparent his work is. The band retains its signature overall sound but he comes in and maximizes the potential. Every writer should study his work. One of the best if not the best in rock history.

I disagree. His pop sensibility is instantly recognizable. On the flipside, though yes you're right, IWMFLY still sounds like a KISS riff, just softer. But listen to Detonator by Ratt, it sounds like a pop version of Ratt, that's Desmond's influence. Same goes for Dude LooksLAL. It's an Aerosmith tune certainly, but Aerosmith light.

Very interesting how Gene never worked with Desmond Child. Sure, it is about chemistry which obviously Paul had with the sucesfull songwriter. I like " I was made for loving you", but I can live without it in a Kiss gig. Paul would only work with Desmond Child in 1984. Why was he not brought to The Elder or Creatures' sections? Perhaps because he was a pop songwriter? What if he had come on board?

I Was Made...was a perfect Paul song. If the song was on Pauls solo record it could have threatened the end of Kiss. As far as Desmonds other songs I am not a fan. Formulaic pop/rock Bon Jovi/Cher disposable garbage. The man is ultra rich and good for him.
