The first reggae hit, loved this sound since it first came out, this is great music, the baritone background voices, scratchy guitar, smooth guitar licks, Desmond sliding into falsetto, this is timeless, first heard it in Vietnam.

Recall hearing this song for the first time, from someone's transistor radio, about 10 feet away, at a PACKED public swimming pool, on a 99°F day in Evanston, Illinois. For those of you who do not understand the context and Scripture, let me explain: 1. Desmond Dekker cannot really say what this song truly means because it is controversial, but I understand it. 2. He is saying that we are The True Israelites of the Bible because of the econonic oppression that he is facing. 3. In jamaica, even to this day, we consider working for other peopole as slavery.. no matter how fancy.. we say.. "we on the slave"... working 4. He said he does not want to end up like Bunny and clide.. he does not want to end up a thief.. also a Biblical reference
