I think what's worst is the girls never have character they are just sadly forgotten and shoved to the side for the super minions, they don't have to age them big, they can just age them like 3-4 years, they can go through characters, Margo no longer hates boys after meeting a respectful boy standing up to her bullies, Edith could end up having her own karate/ninja classes in the future and Agnes, I got nothing you can come up with an idea for Agnes' character, as for the main villain he's is mostly gone thought out the rest of the movie, even Vector and El Macho had more screen time than him, I think its time for an actually threating serious villain, how cool would it be if they gave us end game with Gru and the rest of the villains working together against the final boss?

Although I think the second DM movie was downhill, the main plot relevancy with minion's side is fitting to final conflict. Also, in the first movie, the minions just do their OWN thing and not interrupting the entire film as empty plot likewise 3 & 4.

Why am I not surprised, if anything I think I know why this and the DM franchise sucks. They don’t grow up with their audience. Pixar franchises like Toy Story and Cars or Dreamworks franchises like Shrek and HTTYD grow up with the audience, missteps excluded. Despicable Me for the longest time hasn’t stepped out of the “made for kids” comfort zone.

I think what doesn't bode well for the franchise is that they announced they're never going to age up the characters. If they made the kids older, there would be more interesting stories to be told. But they said they're gonna keep them the same age forever an that's evidently getting stale quick

The despicable me 4 was not just a franchise, it was illumination golden pride and they burned it to the ground in a worser way, I can’t even call it a trilogy because unlike the other trilogys, despicable me became a franchise only to get the little kids attention, the same happened to hotel Transylvania for having soulless sequels, trilogys are created to be masterpieces, not to attract kids, and if illumination can’t see that, it’s the reason why they’re making themselves look bad for having only one Oscar for playing it too safe, still I have hope that the 2020s will be the best era for illumination because of super Mario bros movie and migration let’s see if there next movie will be good and maybe get Oscar nominated, or just another sequel to the stupid life of pets

El macho was basically a big fat-ass purple monster killed by doctor Nefario and as for Balthazar Bratt he just got blown away by Gru butt-naked! WTF is despicable me going at. It’s like watching the fucking sequel to Megamind! I thought everyone had a over-the-top review with all their « oh, despicable me 4 is bad » and shit but here, this just made me question my opinion.
