So here's the thing. I believe the minions gave up on their purpose of following the most evil person when they met gru because gru treats them less like tools to meet an end and more like family. It's also stated in minions that the minions were frozen in an iceberg during world war 2. I mean not only does gru call each of the minions by a specific name, but he can tell them apart which means he's incredibly familiar with each and every one of them individually.

I rewatched the first two Despicable Me films recently after several years. Surprisingly I thought they both held up really well. I appreciate the first one for its sense of humor and its genuine heart. The second one did exactly what a sequel should do. It may have needed a rewrite or two to fix some pacing issues, but it was genuinely a good attempt and kept the spirit of the original. I remember watching DM3 and Minions when they first came out. Maybe my opinion would change if I rewatched them now, but I remember thinking the third film felt like it had about half of an okay movie, and then threw a bunch of random stuff at the wall to fill in time for the other half. Minions was one of the most passable films I have ever seen. It showed up, gave us exactly what it promised, had a few genuinely clever jokes, then ended on a decent note.

19:07 The Schwarzchild radius of the moon is actually about 0.1 millimeters, so it'd have to be shrunk to a much smaller size than in the movie in order to collapse in on itself and turn into a black hole. On the other hand, I'm assuming that the shrink ray not only shrinks objects, but also shrinks the atoms making up the object as well, since it doesn't seem to get rid of mass; plus, once shrunk, the object weighs a lot less than it does in its full size. So if the moon were to be shrunk in that way, it would have about the same density as normal, since the matter making up the moon has also decreased in size in the same proportion; and since the density is the same, it wouldn't turn into a black hole.

Here’s the thing: In the original film and a few shorts, it’s implied that Gru and Nefario made the minions. Like, that they’re genetically engineered. And I’m not sure at what point that changed. I’m very confused.
