I don't eat the low protein low fat type diet as per AJ / Dr McDougall, but still happy to purchase a copy of her book. AJ has been giving advice online for ages, going back to the "Chef and Dietitian" with Julianna Hever.

I wonder if the recipe taste as good using peanut butter powder instead. I’ve never tried it, but they say it is lower in calories than regular peanuts since it’s much lower in fat.

chef aj's the one that I have the most questions for - because she's such a reserve of knowledge. I think Chuck asked the right questions - really digging into what matters - I'm so glad I have chuck to wake up to - he's really talented and great to be a part of PCRM - much like Dustin Harder, and of course Dr. Barnard! I didn't watch the show fully, but if I was going to ask her a question - I'd ask about how this book fits into the theme of the other books, like unprocessed. I know that she did bring it up a few times in her other promo videos for this book, and she talks about it here, but I know I would want to hone in on figuring that out.

I think chef aj does a great service with this book. Cane sugar is one of the most corrosive of plant-based foods out there for the body and even for the planet - the amazon and mangrove deforestation, etc. I prefer eating the whole stevia leaf - I feel stevia is much more eco of an option - you can grow it in one's backyard. I know people don't like the taste, but I like the taste more than regular sugar at times, although regular sugar has its perks too when it comes to taste. I like maple syrup, but I see why she moves away from it - it's too sweet.

I eat oatmeal daily and sweeten with berries and banana, but still yearn for that extra little boost of sweetness, which is 1 to 1-1/2 teaspoons of brown cane sugar. That's what Dr. McDougall suggests when ya just gotta sweeten your oatmeal a tad. I don't see a real benefit to using date sugar for oatmeal since calorie/carb/sugars about identical to table or cane sugar. The healthy nutrients and minerals in date sugar are miniscule for just one teaspoon and cost more. This is the only added sugar I add to food daily and I eat no other sweets or candies, and my oat milk is unsweetened. I know Dr. Esselstyn likes raisins on his oatmeal, but those are sugar dense too. I'll stick to my cane sugar.

I know - I don't like when they say 'no sugar' - because it does have sugar. It should say 'no cane sugar' or 'no refined sugar' or something like that. Maybe even 'no inner stem condensed sugar' - because it seems like that's what she's about - not quite sure. She could say 'WFPB sugar' or even 'whole food sugar only'. I just don't get it.

it looks like she really just stuck to dates. I was wondering why not other foods - like raisins, but then I realized raisins are dried grapes and dates are just the way they are. I wonder what her thoughts on dried fruit is - if she put it in the cookbook or anyway. Maybe it's not a 'whole food' - as it has the water removed. Whole food - it still gets me confused.
