My first timeshare purchase in 1990. It was like $10,250 for the lock-off 2 bedrm and the HOA was about $450 yearly for my red week. This was an age where a timeshare purchase even from a developer made sense. I remember our incentive to buy was enough points (before the current severe devaluations) to get two round trip air tickets to Europe, our week in the Marriott in Vienna Austria, and a 5 series BMW rental for that week. Those were the days that points could actually get good value with the Marriott points. No more though. Sadly, the situation with most, if not all timeshares now is that even bought re-sale, it is hard to get good value due to the huge HOA fee's. Marriott is not like it was in the good days of timeshare.

I've heard about how great the deals and incentives were back in the 1990s. Bonvoy has also certainly changed, and not for the better. I am sure 30 years from now people will be talking about how great MVC was now. Given that, I can't imagine what it will look like then. Thanks for watching!

Nice. We were just at the Marriott Waikaloa on the Big Island. The one-bedroom timeshare units are nice and comfortable, similar to this. We are Westin Flex owners. I prefer the Desert Willows property in Palm Desert. I like the layout and furniture better than the Marriott. To each his own.

Great video! Were these units refurbished recently? I stayed in a 2BR in a Hyatt resort that had a shared vestibule and we ended up DIYing door stops to keep the doors propped open.
