I just completed it solo and it took about 15 hours of grinding...wasnt too bad. Invader kill is probably the trickiest but I found using a rocket launcher with homing perk the best way.

For the record, I just finished this quest and in particular the gambit portion is outright WRONG. Read the step carefully.... You do NOT need a hand cannon equipped as I found out first hand and after visiting the Bungie help forums over this. They word this particularly badly. What you actually NEED to do is get a "Not On My Watch" medal in gambit. They describe the acts correctly but they leave out the most important part. You're under that timer for the medal. If you don't get it within the timer for the medal it will not count. I did it with the Seraph AR and SMG equipped and got it by accident when I nailed the invader with Two-Tailed Fox when they spawned in in front of me. Again, getting the medal is the actual goal of that leg of the quest and not just the parameters of what they list. If you get an evasive invader that you manage to kill after the timer length for the medal, it will not count regardless of what you have equipped.

For the orb part. Use a masterwork weapon (recluse, revoker, etc.) then you generate orbs with multikills and collect them for extra progression (Generate 1 orb then collect for 2/250)

For the gambit step, you don’t need rose equipped. It has to be within the first 10 seconds of the invasion to earn the Not On My Watch medal. I used Thorn for reference but a hand cannon is not required. The only time you need a hand cannon equipped is for the crucible portion.

Huckleberry masterworked is really good for the 250 orbs. Go to the EDZ where devrim Kay is and towards the area you spawn in, sometimes the fallen and Cabal go to war against each other and you can farm them so fast and easy! Hope this helped!

For orb generation go to the last wish raid and skip to the second stage. Got the 250 in 10 minutes. Also defend the light, same place. Second stage of last wish. Run riskrunner or any weapon that reloads on kills.

If you pick up Werner bounties before you start the orb generation first step you get progress every time you pick up an orb towards the lumina step and one orb counts as two for the progress.

Using sentinel bottom or middle tree with harmony you can keep throwing shields and it will last as long as it would if you popped it and started standing around

You can get the quest way early on even if you just started. Just do the mission where you meet up with Hawthorne and go up to the campsite after you get off the elevator. I'm a level 9 titan and managed to get it.

To everyone complaining about it not being solo just lfg it as well as doing the quest you will meet new people to play with meaning you cam get into things like raids i understand it can be daunting but just do it you won't regret it

For the 250 orb part all I did was do hallowed lair nightfall solo cuz I wanted to get mindbenders and after 3 runs I was done with that part so you dont have todo some parts with teammates so just giving some info

Pro tip: For the 250 orbs you can do it solo on the heroic whisper quest with tether hunter. It took me about 10 minutes to finish fully. You can even do part of the next step there also
