I have not touched the game since the day 1 of the witness raid. I hated how they ended the story and ultimately disagreed with pretty much everything they did after beyond light. They had a chance to seize the day and make destiny the greatest game ever made after red war produced one of the best campaigns I have ever played. But they messed it up every step of the way, vaulting content but keeping it in game files, firing employees because of their own mistakes, forsakens entire campaign being a couple of bounties… having rasputin die, bringing back cayde 6 rather then write a proper culmination to the story, creating prismatic which is just a mixture of stuff they have already done rather than creating a unique subclass. It’s just all not good enough. Idc what they do. I’m never coming back

What you said towards the end is how we should play in general to be honest. It's a game, meant for entertainment. When it stops being fun and turns into stress, you need to stop playing. Not necessarily permanently. Just take a break and play when you feel like it. I've been doing that all episode and I've still managed to get as much done as I could want in game. But more than that it's important to take care of yourself and make sure you aren't just playing the game to play it. That's usually not fun and leads to burn out and exhaustion so quick. Always remember, it's a game. There comes a day where you'll hit game over. All good things come to an end. Whether that be now or another 3 sagas from now.

Exactly. Destiny 2 imo became a to-do checklist a long time ago - complete season pass, seasonal challenges, gild seals etc except nothing changed. Now I do not force myself to do the seasonal challenges, I am actually not even half way done and I don't plan to complete the ones I do not enjoy doing and having already missed some stuff it gets easier to not do them more and more. :)
@dredgenspace
@dredgenspace 10 күн бұрын
@Divide21 That's honestly the biggest issue with the game currently. A lot of decisions from higher up have been made to prioritize metrics and player retention versus quality and good will meanwhile the devs sneak in what they can get away with and try so hard to advocate for the player base only to get shut down. This is reflected in the game so heavily. The game at it's core is fun to play and has many fun activities but there is little innovation and so many things that are clearly designed to milk people's playtime. Qol changes that helped make the game less a chore and more approachable have gotten reversed/removed but come back or get relaxed by more Qol later on (fighting between devs and execs), and devs literally beg for stuff like player housing but can't make it happen because of executive meddling. It's frustrating to know they fight so hard and listen to everything we say only for them to be told that they can't because the execs hyper focus on statistics and return of investment. The Old Bungie is still there but it's being sabotaged by terrible higher ups. A studio of devs who "make games we want to play" versus execs who "make games that inspire friendship" a generic and bland statement reflective of the way the execs handle the game. For Destiny to heal we must hope that the executives open their ears and listen to the people who make the game we all want to play.

We are almost in the same situation, they are killing the game, terrible decisions and also the re-selling or recycling of D1 and also now D2 content is brutal... I played D1 and D2 for thousands of hours. It changed when they started doing the ranking nonsense. Its split players , whether they admit it or not. To be classed as a 6 after years of play is just sad. Yeah it doesn't mean much but should never have been forced on players. Then there's the increasing bugs and glitches that started showing up after the 30th Anniversary. That content drop was fun and was the start of Destiny going on maintenance mode with slack QA and underpaid coders. Throw in the sellout to Sony, job lay offs, the sunsetting of bought dlcs, the lack of respect given to players and devs by the "higher ups" and the basic lack of content ( reusing maps, renaming modes, models and weapons/gear is NOT content) and lack of exciting future we all thought might happen after TFS ie moving beyond solar system, D3 etc , is it any wonder players have started cleaning glasses and brushing the floor as time is called?

I think the cycle has just gone on for too long. Imo games like Destiny and even COD/Halo should have a 3-4 year cycle max. Year 1 release is crappy launch with issues that get fixed, probably broken meta and OP builds etc. Year 2 is nerfing and bringing in new fun stuff but attempting to balance the game and Year 3 you either have a finished product that's almost perfect for replayability in terms of full content of the story start to end and stuff, or you go wild and just make everything insane since you'd be starting the next 3-4 year cycle of a new game. (just my opinion)

It's crazy because I've had more fun this episode than many previous seasons. The story is ok from acts 1 and 2 that I've played so far, waiting for friends to get on to play act 3, but the loot chase, grinding iron banner, grinding trials, doing gm nightfalls, making all different kinds of builds utilizing the artifact to its fullest, is what really keeps me going. Maybe it's just because I started really playing in Witch Queen rather than D1 launch like many have, but I just log in every now and then and always have something to do. Lost sectors trying to get a good Veleda-F roll, iron banner for a good Crimil's, trials for a good pve Tomorrow's Answer, seasonal activities for scavenger's fate. I am as frustrated as anyone with the multitude of bugs and very occasional cheaters, but underneath it all I think there's a really fun game that will hopefully be made better next episode and into Frontiers. Stop treating the game like a job and it'll stop feeling like one. If you don't have interest right now, come back when you do. I play Marvel Rivals, Monster Hunter, and survival games when I'm not in a Destiny mood, no gun or title or whatever is worth stressing over. If it legit just isn't fun for you anymore, I get that. I stopped playing Overwatch entirely when Rivals came out. But at the moment there is no game (to me) that offers quite the same feeling as Destiny does, I'm still riding the high of my 6/6 god roll The Riposte and can't wait for Deadlock to be focusable next episode. Hope everyone finds games they enjoy if you are quitting Destiny, and if you're not, there will still be crazy people like me enjoying the "slop" that they put out every season.

I never loved the seasonal treadmill grind, and since we knew before Final Shape that seasons would no longer build to an annual expansion, I was done post TFS. Nothing bad happened, I still loved my time with the game. With Destiny 1, it's been 10 years on this franchise. I'll always keep an eye on it (and stay subscribed to Divide haha) because I want to see it do well. But the current content and roadmap just isn't for me. And thats ok. If something changes there, Imight be back. But if not, it's been fun.

I didn't mind grinding for better gears especially exotics but it just sucks a lot when Bungie decided to nerf some of the most fun exotics there are. Also, the game gatekeeps players in many ways especially Raids. As a solo player, it's simply impossible for me to participate in Raids. Soloing them sucks too.

I've played Destiny since a little after Taken King came out in late 2015. I hold some of my most memorable memories that involve this game, such as completing my first raid or getting flawless in Trials. Then I hear that Destiny 2 was going to release, and I was the most hyped for a game release, ever, since Titanfall 2. I was there during the burnout at the end of Red War, the crash of Curse of Osiris, the "We're so Back" of Warmind, the "We're really f'ing back of Forsaken and it's seasons. And now I'm here in Echo's 2, wondering how this gigantic franchise of a game fell from grace. You could argue that it's because of good ol' Pete, or the layoffs, or the recycling of content, or the sunsetting and vaulting, but I think it boils down to just being burnt out from this style of game. I've played this game series for almost a decade now, and I've found myself going from "I can't wait to hop on and do the new dungeon with my friends," to "Oh cool a dungeon, I'll do it next week," to "There's a new dungeon?" I think this game is nearing the end of it's cycle, there's only so much you can do with this type of looter shooter before you run out of ideas. We literally got a new super that's just the other supers and abilities combined. This isn't me calling it lazy, I'm just pointing out how little there could be to add. That's my two cents on the matter, and a majority of this is opinion based, so take it with a grain of salt.

I have a deep love for destiny, and to back that up Im in the top 100 speed run records for every piece of content in this game with over 4 thousand hours in this game. I quit after getting top 100 in final shape and every day I think about coming back since there is nothing that itches that itch like destiny 2. Sure, there is warframe but its just not the same, no records to beat, no reason to play with friends and meet people. I miss my community and everything about it, but in due time I will be glad I stopped playing.

I quit years ago, around when Beyond Light was coming out or recently released. I just remember that the game wanted me to do patrols and strikes for battlepass and relic progression, but failed to make that fun as other players could just use busted weapons to melt things. Unfortunately, while people who love that would have Warfare to fall back to, I haven't found a good replacement MMO or MMO-lite for people that want the group PvE content you can just play, but also fun gameplay that isn't a comical cakewalk.

We get some of the best news we’ve gotten in years and I see a slew of “Destiny 2 is doomed” “Dead Game” “I quit”. It’s so melodramatic. The community has been begging for change. We finally have it and the reaction to that is moaning and complaining. Destiny 2 may not be the game we wanted but you cannot deny that it’s changing for the better. If you don’t like it, quietly leave. The threat to quit has lost its shock value.

Destiny 2 as a concept is great. Destiny 2 as a piece of software and UI design, is an abomination of technical ineptitude. Destiny 2 has also been fundamentally dishonest with their player base when it comes to weapon drops being "random" (because they are not random), and also weapons and gameplay is different in pvp each game, there is no consistency, things change. Destiny 2 abuses the player base, and they do so routinely, patronising the players with talk of "the community"; we are not a family, we are paying customers and should be treated as such. The product is not fit for release.

Good gunplay can't be our excuse forever. You aren't supposed to regularly eat Doritos for sustenance, you eat them for the taste and to feel good momentarily. You also can't stop at just one chip because the food scientists knew the exact amount of seasoning for the shortest amount of time possible, depriving your mouth of novelty, depriving your brain of dopamine, forcing you to eat another highly processed corn chip. Gunplay is the salty goodness. It's instant, and fleeting. The random roll system is that one random Dorito covered in extra flavoring. The corn of the chip is the story of Destiny 2, ie. You don't eat Doritos for the corn? Sure a lot of people like the corn, but the seasoning brings you back for more. If you just like corn there are other great corn chips out there, but they are just normal sea salt... The corn of a Dorito is just a delivery mechanism for the seasoning, to give the seasoning a reason to exist.. Just as the story in D2 is just a delivery mechanism to give the gunplay a reason to exist. You CAN just eat seasoning, but then you have something like Counter-Strike, where the only mechanism to carry the seasoning is the packaging. When normal Doritos become boring and the sales stagnate, they come out with new shapes and flavors. The corn might be puffed now (ie. new enemies, new planets, new mechanics) and it's the same great flavor (gunplay) but now ALL the chips are super flavored (ie. Strand changing how you explore the environment, new perks increasing accuracy or lowering TTK, new features improving mobility.) Stop eating Doritos. It's quite bad for you, the company obviously doesn't care about your health, and the limited time flavors are evil because you get a taste of something incredible and then it's gone forever. Worst of all, Sweet and Spicy Chilli only got popular because they paid people like Stephen Colbert to promote it in a funny way. It's an average flavor at best. Salsa Verde is Witch Queen, Spicy and a fresh take on the classic formula. Cool ranch is obviously Forsaken, an improvement on the classic Nacho Cheese that got us here in the first place but with a nice new blue vibe that didn't get cheese all over your pant legs..

Had no fun at all, doing the same grind every week, same missions, came back a week ago for a look to see what the game is like now.. and it all just looks the same. Couldn't find anyone in an activity, like no one wanted to do it, and I did a vanguard op, only for it to repeat the same mission after the first one. Came off and not gone back on since.

"You've got to respect the player's time" Wise words that unfortunately Bungie will probably not heed. You can't keep expecting players to keep investing time without regular quality updates. The most recent exotic mission was soooooo trash. Compare it to some of the best ones like Whisper, Zero Hour or Presage. Thousands of hours played enjoying this game in the past and now I can barely be bothered to log in at the beginning of a season to pick up the new free exotic. Giving up this addiction has actually had a positive impact on my life, once you realise this it's hard to see the value of dipping back in.

I left after Final Shape, I was actually hopeful that the episodes would be the change from the stale seasonal model we were promised. But within a few minutes it was clear episodes were going to be the same dull seasonal activity, time gated grind. So after 10 years, I thought let's leave on a high note having loved Final Shape. Past 6 months I have put around 300 hours into Warframe and really love it. There are somethings it doesn't do as well as Destiny but it does a lot of things that Destiny could only dream of. I am sad that Bungie weren't able to see how special Destiny was and have milked the under nourished cow to death but they get what they deserve. Trying to maximise profits whilst pushing out the minimum viable product is disrespectful to the player base and people have had enough. Time to take the cow to the abattoir.

The main reason I left Destiny2 was this shit Season system they pushed into the game... It's "throw away" content... it's cheap content they know they'll throw away after a few months... and that's bad game design. I want to hop on whenever I want and not miss anything. That's the reason why I'll start over with Destiny 1 soon with some friends. Still waiting for some to get a console and also the game, and then we can start through again. I loved Destiny 1 and how linear it was. THAT was a well-managed game and also good game design. I highly recommend everyone who played Destiny 2 and loved it at first glance, you should try it out as long as Bungie keeps the servers running. If they shut them down... it's gone for a long while. I've already gone through some game closures for games I loved to play, for example "Monster Hunter Online". You can't play it anymore but it was, aside from the graphics, an absolutely amazing Monster Hunter game. Yeah, so the next good game will come :) Live service games all started to become the same shithole

Overall I have a generally positive outlook towards the game. I used to play religiously like it was my job and that definitely led to burnout, especially post Final Shape, but I eventually realized that it was okay to take a break and play other games and that's exactly what I did alongside catching up on anime and TV shows. That all being said, I don't think I'll ever be able to completely drop destiny. No other game feels like it and I'm personally addicted to build crafting. Coming up with fun builds that are also viable in hard content brings a level of satisfaction that is hard for me to come by. I can easily go sit in patrol for an hour just testing out things and mindlessly slaying out on the red bars just because of feel alone. That being said, I always look forward to and get excited over sandbox changes that come with each season (Im already testing literally a dozen builds for the Heresy sandbox changes and new aspects) and I'm even more excited for Armor 3.0 in Frontiers and whatever sandbox changes come with it. On the other hand, I've begun to care a lot less for the story over these past few episodes, mainly playing for the sandbox as highlighted above, but I'm still looking forward to the next saga of Destiny coming with Frontiers and seeing how that seasonal model plays with the 2 medium sized expansions each year. Tl;Dr - I'm probably not going anywhere anytime soon although I recognize the many problems with the series right now, only taking breaks here and there to enjoy other things

I’m about 2 years into d2 playtime, around 2k hours, I could easily play for 13 hours straight to be fucking honest with u. I enjoy pve especially dungeons, and pvp control, I’ve had some real good times on the game with the boys. *sigh* in the beginning of January I tried Warframe for the third time (I never got into it and just uninstalled) and wow is it refreshing, confusing sure, but the amount of aspects of the game that’s TOTALLY FREE compared to d2 bro.. imagine what a thing like that would do to the game.. started playing d2 less and less this season, I’ll still do day1 dungeon in February with bro but it’s concerning when I haven’t played d2 for over 2 days, going from a daily login.. I don’t want this game to die, I really don’t. The game is an insane potential and bungie just can’t get it together! D3 hasn’t been a thing and never will be, and I truly hope marathon flops like concord because they’ve chosen to direct more attention to that than their actual money maker, or the game people actually play, doubt anyone will care for marathon

I'm powering through because I paid for the deluxe edition, which I'm heavily regretting right now. After this year, I'm moving away from destiny permanently. There is no point in playing a game from a company whose priorities lie elsewhere. I'm playing enough every patch to quickly get my pass to lvl200, and getting the exotics. After that I log out and wait till the next patch.

The amount of straws that ended up on my back was too much for me to handle. Destiny still one of the only games to take my money and then also straight up remove what I paid for. I played collectively 2200 hours in Destiny 1&2. I started falling off when they started locking story content behind seasons. I picked up Forsaken and beat the base content but then they started doing seasons and if you didn't pay for the battlepass or "season" you were just done getting lore and gameplay mechanics even though you still forked over $40 for the DLC. It rubbed me so wrong, I stopped playing until new light came out. Two years pass I finally accept that I'll be forced into paying for more than the DLC, but I hold strong and just nab the base DLC. Get the new subclas and the DLC leaves on a cliff hanger for the seasonal content... now I realize everything's being pushed for these seasonal battlepasses... but Destiny still felt good so I said screw it, I'll run my old content like Forsaken and never picked up Shadowkeep sonic did so thinking the old seasonal stuff had to be "free to play"... introducing sunsetting... I came back my Forsaken DLC has basically been ripped out (still on sale even know mind you) and left none of the seasonal content behind in the case for Shadowkeep... this was it. I was done mostly. I would rarely get on outside of DLC drops and by the time I made it to the Final Shape as soon as the players beat The Witness, I was done done. I've stopped playing and haven't come back. The ONLY way I come back is the full restoration of Destiny 2 content, and a promise to Remaster Destiny 1 and eventually couple the two together all 200+GB of data I won't be coming back, they burnt me to many times to go back to that abusive relationship that didn't respect my money or time put into it.

What Bungie and many players don’t want to admit is that there is no sun to rise over the horizon. There is not a single thing Destiny 2 can do at this point. It could drop the greatest raid tomorrow and nobody’s opinion on the game would change. The game is fundamentally flawed. The vast majority of content made for the game is unplayable. Meaningful loot is at an all time low, I would even argue it’s lower than year 1 D2 loot. The main appeals for Destiny have been the loot, setting, and gunplay. Gunplay is the only thing out of the three still in a good state. The only way Bungie could play into these appeals again is with a Destiny 3. Where we have a handful of new destinations and loot we don’t have to worry about managing, deleting, or asking ourselves if it’s even worth our time. Almost every raid is obsolete because you can get just as good if not better crafted weapons from seasonal content. Fire Fly, what was considered a raid perk at one time, is a complete joke in the face of Incandescent that does the same thing but can synergies with the 3.0 subclasses and doesn’t require a headshot. With a Destiny 3 you aren’t looking at 4 of the brand new dungeon weapons going “yeah I don’t need it”
