@AverageJ03Gaming4 жыл бұрын
Somewhat. Felwinter was an Exo, and considering the HEAVY hints that rasputin is an "exo" in a similar way, it checks out actually. Basically, both Rasputin and exos themselves were Golden Age Braytech stuff. Braytech and Deep Stone were responsible for Exos, being human minds in robotic bodies to achieve "immortality" in a way, and it's not too far off to assume Rasputin was made in a similar manner and Felwinter may have been his actual human child. Either way, Felwinter's an exo so the traveler scooping him up is less attributed to Rasputin and more to the fact that it grabs exos in general.
@donnezha62784 жыл бұрын
@@AverageJ03Gaming the point still stands, even if Rasputin was a human once, Felwinter was not. If I remember correctly, normal humans were "resleeved" by other humans and not by Rasputin. Rasputin creating Felwinter as a program makes more sense. I personally doubt that Rasputin was a human once tho.
@Needler134 жыл бұрын
@@donnezha6278 remember back in the golden age, Rasputin wasn't all knowing as he is now...somewhat. he may be programmed to do something with the crypt and exos as well and took a liking to human felwinter and when he was resleeved as an exo, took some control over the exo body. Before exos get the light and become guardians they still had limits of a computerized cyborg body. Meaning they still have software and tech to have, Rasputin could have easily taken control of felwinter exo body as a spy to learn more of humanity. Looking through the eyes of felwinter and then the collapse happened and he became a risen. When he became a risen he got the light which broke that enslavement code and let the exos be free if certain limitations of their bodies. like being wiped from memory after a reset

Is that what happened? I was under the impression the Exo's Rasputin was using were already someone before him. When they were converted into exos at the Deep Stone Crypt would be when he put part of himself in them then he used them for inform gathering. I think that would be more likely, Rasputin would know that the more accepted they'd be by society the better they'd serve their purpose, and I dont think it would have tried to create a consciousness when it could just use existing ones. As far as I'm aware nothing says that the Exo's it was using were entirely created by it.

@caseymyers22104 жыл бұрын
I feel there are a few things to take in from this lore. 1) Felwinter was an exo built to explore humanity and learn human actions and thoughts. But due to the immense risk of Felwinter being part guardian, part warmind and what violent ambitious people might do with this revelation, Rasputin had to kill Felwinter. For protecting not only himself, but possibly the entire Last City. 2) Warlords and Iron Lords alike, guardians fought against each other for supplies and to invoke the "Traveler's blessing" onto innocent lives (confirmed by Drifter tapes) and the Iron Lords went in search of Siva for more than just rebuilding the cities. Recognizing some selfish ambitions from at least a few of the Iron Lords, as well as seeing the potential catastrophe from using Siva and as a lesson for the the Iron Lords to learn about the harsh reality of the Dark Age, Rasputin killed the Iron Lords, leaving Saladin alone. Very deep.

The lore behind Felwinter's lie, not only acts as connective tissue for this season and what happened in Rise of Iron, but also plays on concepts from the original Destiny (with Rasputin being an Exo). It also illustrates that the reason Rasputin went after the Iron Lords and had a distrust of Guardians is because of their paracausal nature (the same wielded by the Pyramid Fleet/Veil) and we he had to go dark (save for some instances it seems he resurfaced a times while trying to rebuild his power.) He likely didn't the either the Light or the Dark, and having on his greatest assets (or even one perhaps he saw as a son) become a valuable asset in the hands of this greater power likely put Rasputin hugely on edge. If Felwinter was deeply tied to Rasputin, Rasputin could've feared that Felwinter had the potential to overwrite his authority and put it in the hands of this force he did not completely trust. At this point, I think if Rasputin is sentient and even splintered (as in trying to reconnect himself and his network), he was also suffering from a sense of paranoia. In my personal opinion perhaps. That paranoia led him to turn on potential-and-eventual allies, because he had already lost so much to these powers unknown. He already lost enough to the Darkness, he risked Losing his responsibility, power, and even "loyal followers" to the Light. He wouldn't have it. So he used SIVA to bait and eventually destroy the Iron Lords, among with his other resources. Perhaps, after he had done so, he realized what he did and felt greatly ashamed...thus never taking back control of SIVA and allowing the Aksis and the splicers to take command of it. Also, I wish Lord Saladin was part of this quest line in some way.
@freakctc4 жыл бұрын
Bare in mind, by the point Felwinter was resurrected as a guardian, Rasputin had deactivated his moral program to better protect humanity, as seen in the Sleeper Simulant Exotic quest. So, killing Felwinter didn't come across as 'morally wrong'. It wasn't till after Felwinter was gone that Rasputin had a chance to realize what he did. I theorize it was at that point that Rasputin went offline, leaving one or two sub-minds active to watch humanity. And those sub-minds had no control over frames or anything other than the ability to attack targets with Warsats, like we saw in D1.
@Skywatcher164 жыл бұрын
yep. as a lore guy and iron banner fan, i was sadly rather dissapointed in the rise of iron DLC. and this finally, years later wraps up one of the reasons why i found it underwhelming. it was made clear that SIVA was under rasputins control, likely one of the many ways he maintained his infrastructure among other things. and there was even hints that rasputin may have led the iron lords to their doom. but what we NEVER had an explanation of, was why? why would the warmind destroy potential allies? people who litterally wanted nothing more than to rebuild what rasputin had been charged to protect? and if those hints that rasputin used this as a trap were true, a trap for what purpose?

To me when I now look at siva's logo I see a crying Rasputin logo. I doubt that's what it would be in the realm of destiny but I think it would be cool if bungie planned this all along

Well people have suggested many times that just like with Halo that Bungie should expand the Destiny universe with book series. A whole series of books covering the dark age from multiple angles be swell.

Then much later I happened upon your channel and it reignited my interest in Destiny until I finally got it for myself, so thank you for making these videos. I hope you continue to make them for some time.

Can someone tell me how weapon lore works with canon? Is weapon lore something that is only shown to the Player or is it also something that is given to our Guardian and will other Guardians like here Ana Bray know about the lore in the weapon and/or books
@Landis9634 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's explicitly stated. I assume that if there's a plausible excuse for us seeing it, we see it, otherwise we don't see it. E.G. Abide the Return's lore tab has a plausible reason for our presence (namely it takes place in the Tower courtyard), while Amnestia's does not.
@RhapsodicXStyle074 жыл бұрын
See it like this, it exist as a means to further the world building to you and only you. It usually isn't going to drive the story so if you haven't experienced it in game you're brick walled but if you do you learn little about the destiny universe and get a cool gun out of it. Most times non player characters will acknowledge you getting a gun when you get it but thats it. The story is open ended so wether or not you experienced this no big deal. I will say the new quests are limited time to do them so do them asap if you want to see it.

I didn't know nor care about this gun or Felwinter's story but listening to this video in its entirety gave me a reason to care. A reason to try and learn more about Felwinter and Felwinter's lie. So thank you Byf for taking the time to bring us lore. I can't wait for more of your videos.
@ViperMx21154 жыл бұрын
Love your videos, but I have to disagree that Felwinter was a standard Exo that could be taken over by Rasputin and that there could be other Exos that are the same. The Liar lore and the dialogue at the end of The Lie quest suggest that Felwinter was both one of a kind and that he was a self-contained AI housed within an Exo. One of a kind in that the end of quest dialogue says "a tyrant king sent his son" not sons plural; while Felwinter is the focus of the story, nothing suggests that there are any others like him. As for Felwinter being a self-contained AI, the Siddhartha Golem lore tab starts by stating that the command to essentially create Felwinter has no human review and no AI-COM review, so no one except Raputin knows that the order was given. The big clue to Felwinter being a self-contained AI is "If HAMMURABI is ACTIVE and passes human review under context TURING." This gives the notion that there will be a human review of the Siddhartha Golem with the key word being Turing, which points to the Turing Test, which is famously a test of a machine's ability to exhibit intelligent behaviour equivalent to, or indistinguishable from, that of a human. From my POV this lore tab gives the impression that Rasputin put an AI or a sub-mind of himself into an Exo frame with the intent that it be indistinguishable from any other Exo; not Rapsutin, but not entirely separate from him either. There are certainly potential allegories to the God/Jesus relationship.

how did felwinter remember about the deep stone crypt? or is that something all exo guardians remember from their past?
@roninazaxar4 жыл бұрын
All Exos, or at least most of them, have a faint memory of the Deep Stone Crypt, or at least the conflicting emotions associated with it. Some remember peace, some remember a place of war and chaos, and it's still very ambiguous.
