Destiny 2's characters include Asher Mir, A warlock with a Vex arm! In this video i'm going to go explain how he got his vex arm and the lore behind where he got it, the Pyramidion. The Pyramidion is also a strike on Io with lore of its own, including Brakion, The Genesis Mind!

I like how Eris calls Asher a kindred spirit because if you think about it they are pretty much the same. Eris lost her eyes infiltrating a hive area and had to take and use hive eyes, just like Asher infiltrated a vex area and now uses a vex arm. Both also lost their ghosts.

While youre inside the Pyramidion strike, at the end in the boss room, you can actually look around and see the 'lakes' on the ceiling and walls of the structure. So, looks like the artwork really inspired stuff in-game.

The implications of Asher's arm and ghost being converted into Vex are kind of huge. That means all of us and everything is at risk of being converted, given enough "time"

One thing I have to wonder about Asher is how much of the Vex conversion process and/or the radialoria has entered his brain. He's said to always be an exasperating individual but with some of the dialogue he has and characters like Ikora and Ghost who are both tech and science savvy not being to understand him makes me wonder if his infection is worse than once thought. Heck, in any of the Gensym class items he writes to Eris telling her he is starting to feel a strange sympathy for the Vex and that he cut himself and found he was bleeding radiolaria. It may already by too late for Asher.

When I took 2 weeks off on D2s release the first set of armour I grinded out (before you could buy them) was the Io set. I ended up listening to all his lines and when he talked about how he couldn't put his ghost out of it's misery, his closest and truest companion, it hit me right in feels.

I have an interesting theory about Asher’s arm: I had always wondered why Asher said it was a lake of Vex milk of all things. Like, why this instead of a tower or some ominous construct. I was wondering this while running the Inverted Spire strike and realized that the final boss arena for that strike was a Vex radiolarian lake. So I thought, maybe Asher could have teleported to Nessus, confused Protheon (the boss for the Inverted Spire) for Brakion, and got transformed there? This theory has a lot of holes in it, mainly because I came up with it in like a minute, but I always found that lake thing weird, as well as the fact that Asher was so certain that a lake would be in the Pyramidion after establishing that nothing is certain in the Pyramidion. After watching this, I don’t think it’s true, but it would be pretty cool if it was.

Sorry if this pokes another hole in your theory, but I just wanted to point out that Vex architecture tends to be replicable. For example, the crucible map "Distant Shore" is basically a Nessus re-skin of the Venus map "Shores of Time" in Destiny 1. So the Inverted Spire's final area may be a similar copy/replication of the lake Asher encountered, or vice versa. The Vex love a good pattern, after all.

I always appreciated the fact that the Eris grimoire card introducing Asher was during the Age of Triumph, where the ornaments for the Vault of Glass armor gave you Vex limbs. That was a nice theme they had going.... I miss Destiny 1 haha

Just a thought. Could it be possible that his ghost gave him his vex arm? Since ghosts heal us, maybe that part was inflicted and once it had healed Asher's arm it realized what it had done so it stopped, which is why Asher ended up in a hospital.

At 8:09 during that strike if you look behind that there’s a deactivated Vex teleport thing and there is a walk way leading into it. I believe that’s what Ash went into to go to the lake. I believe the vex moved that room around so they could hide that from us until they were ready for us to come in.

You know, being a nerd myself maybe this can help: Possibly confused, maybe Asher and his team were lured to a body of the fluid, and there's only two types pf researchers. Ones who are hands on, and ones who claim they need equipment. Asher pours over books and some things sure... But have you noticed he's not in a contained enviorment? No lab, no helmet or protective eyeware, no gloves, safety measures- He may have been leaning close to a shore before an explosion knocked him in. It's also possible that it can't seep through skin, but the moment could've opened a wound on his arm, letting some of it in. Asher is no fool, I'm sure as a Guardian, he wouldn't have been so reckless, but it leaves one to wonder... Why only Asher? Were the others killed or converted? He talks like they survived... Did they transform and he's hiding it? Did they permanently die? Maybe... The Hunters turned into minds? Asher knows much about the Vex. Surprising him and Osiris don't share info. Or how Segiera doesn't know about the infected ghost when she's clearly bragged about being in the Vex network, hidden.... Since now Vex-Ghost isn't 100% himself, possibly engaging with the Vex. Why hasn't he been investigated more?

Dunno if you had seen but there is another interesting thing about Asher and Eris, I think it's in the gensim knight mark for the Titan, it's basically that he wants to talk to eris about how her hive additions changed her, it also mentions that he cut his finger and he bled radiolaria

I think its interesting that it seems Asher's hunter companions survived their encounter. I never heard that second sound clip about them not contacting each other, so I assumed they died. It would be interesting if we ever got to see them in game, but I won't hold my breath.

There was a line from Asher Mir after completing the campaign and the side missions on Io, where he states quietly that he hasn't died since his accident. He didn't think his ghost had the capability to raise him if he did.

I have 3 things I want to know more about 1. What happened to Asher’s fire team as in where are they now and why don’t they talk 2. What’s going on with the taken? Is quaria the new leader or is Savathûn? Are they in a civil war? 3. Curse of Osiris dlc is coming up and I don’t think the next video should be about him but I think we deserve some deeper lore as to what might be going on within the dlc.

Lord Bitniss Savathun has taken the mantle of Taken Queen, after the assassination of her King Brother, Oryx. Before, the taken were just mindless, aimless light hunting beasts, collectively dangerous, but still little more than glimmer and loot pinatas. Savathun making a collective action against the Sol system is a horrifying prospect, because of brilliant as Oryx was, Savathun is the mistress of cunning and subterfuge.

Stephen Flint I know the story of the taken, it’s just when you do the purple quests on io, all the bosses are named after one person, quaria. Quaria is the vex mind that was built to study the sword logic in oryx’s ascendant realm. It was a tough fight but oryx finally beat quaria and made it a taken, however he didn’t fully take it, he left just enough so that it had some free will. He then gave it to Savathûn so she can study it/it could backfire on her. So that’s why I’m curious did quaria take control of some taken? Are they about to have a civil war.

Concerning the vex reconfiguring of gravity, I found a lost sector (can't remember where though) which had waterfalls(I thought at the time, but could easily be radiolaria falls) flowing up to the ceiling. So that supports that theory.

It could be possible to fight the effects of the radiolarian infection. The lore entry on one of the exotic ships added in curse is written by kabir saying he “was wrong” and he “is still here”.

Regarding radiolaria in the air, it's possible. In the second mission on Nessus, while trying to get to the teleporter, you enter the pools of luminance, down inside the pools is a crystal that you can scan and your ghost mentions that it's not interesting "other than it being buried in a radiolarian vapor cloud that carries the energy readings of six stars." So that's a canon confirmation that radiolaria can exist in a vapor form and be in the air.

Last little bit to further the conversion theory. In the lore tab for the Gensym knight armor sets, it says that Asher cut himself with his vex arm and that he has started to bleed radiolaria instead of traditional blood.

The Gate could be at the center of the lake. The art shown in the early video looks similar to the constructs around the final boss area, it could be that the lake surrounds the gate, above, below, and to the sides.

I can only think of the ornamented VoG armor form age of triumph for warlocks, how we replaced our legs with vex tech. think we drank from the confluxes or the glass throne to do that?

If we do a raid with the vex a cool concept for a boss battle in the raid is where a mind uses gravity against us by placing in groups of 2 on different platforms that we need go complete an objective to get everyone back on the same platform to damage the boss. What is osiris became a fully converted vex that has become extremely powerful due to combined power of the vex and the light.

That would be an amazing shell for our ghost to appear as his did. Anyway you could do one on the scion flares? From what I hear, they're powerful enough to move planets and moons with their minds. That alone intrigues me.

After watching this I noticed that harpies kind of move like ghosts with the way they spin, Asher's ghost having a red eye, just like a harpie

I think that his arm got fluid in it, maybe through some wound, but didn't convert on its own. I think that Brakion the Vex Mind knew of the fluid with in him and used its constructive ability to convert his arm into what it is now, something familiar to a Vex. Otherwise on its own the fluid in its arm would convert into material that we see on Vex machine planets. Plus from that rare Vex cut content scene that Vex have to build the bodies first before the fluid can integrate.
