An important distinction to make with Oryx, we defeated him PRIOR to killing him. We had already proven he was not the strongest being inside of his throne world, then when we went to finish the job, he attempted to destroy us using the rules of his throne, rules we no longer had to abide by because we already proved we were stronger than he was (in the first fight with him where he abandoned his sword and "took" himself to prevent himself from dying in his throne). Savathun's Throne World is dangerous because she has only been defeated by one being, Oryx, who is dead and has no heir. We MUST play by her rules, we are not a claimant, yet, my theory is that the Pyramid in her realm is what will allow us to subvert her rules, allowing us to revert the logic underpinning her throne to it's original state, based on the sword logic. Because she can add layers and rules, obscure and add hurdles, but her world was built on the sword logic, there is no evidence that those initial rules can be changed, unless she is building a new throne, which is an interesting possibility, there is nothing that seems to indicate you cannot have two thrones, or maybe she is trying to get to the Throne World Eris was talking about, the one dedicated to the light, but built upon the sword logic (its on an armor or weapon piece I cant remember, i was literally just reading it)

@@wikitiki209 true, the biggest difference is the per the books of sorrow, only Oryx inflicted a “true death” upon both Xivu and Savathun to accumulate the power needed to kill Akka and commune with the Deep. All other deaths were worship, lessons and ultimately meaningless. The Logic of the Sword does not consecrate all battle, all death, it only consecrates the field of survival, where there is a claimant and ruler (the top survivor). Oryx killed Savathun with the intent of “Taking”, inflicting a true death. This, by its very nature placed her below Oryx and subject to his logic. When we fight him, it is with the intent to “Take”, to fight, to kill, to survive by any means necessary, and in Oryx’s throne/court, anybody may challenge him, we did and we won, he escaped, but at that point our logic intertwined by the sword pervaded itself through the throne world of Oryx, he was alive, yes, but he lost the battle in own court and his only chance was to try and exercise everything he had at his disposal in order to kill us off before fighting him. Because he knew he lost and was no longer in control by his very rules and logic, because the next defeat he would be unable to retreat, his own logic and rules, being perverted at the mere presence of the servants of the Sky (us). With Savathun, we have no such power, at least not yet, I’ve stated in other videos, she is intentionally provoking us (specifically us the player) to be her killer. It is likely a key ontological ingredient for her own Throne, one that lets her pervert the logic in such a place. Which grows all the more likely the more i consider Riven’s specific role in creating Mara’s Throne World. Remember, we only think Savathun’s wish ONLY created the Taken Curse. It is far more likely her wish was something else and part of Riven’s fulfillment of that wish required an inordinate amount of time with secret repositories of Awoken Knowledge, knowledge Savathun didn’t know the location of and couldn’t risk a pattern forming for Mara to deduce what she was after.

I had no intentions of buying TTK, but when I was patrolling Venus I encountered the Taken for the first time. That was such a big surprise and after looking into how big the DLC was I ended up buying it that same day.

Based on some lore pages I recall, the Ghost is basically just becoming intangible when we don't have it out. In one lore page, a Guardian experiences some kind of contact sensation in their left palm when about to shoot a can off someone's head. This could be a sort of half-way transition into the Ascendant Realm through our paracausal nature, the Ghost just kinda floating in between realities with our hand as an anchor.

Going back to one of the earlier points in the video, I would still like some clarification on the presumably psychic landscape during the Claus fight of the Leviathan raid. Based on a collection of lore bits from both D1 and D2, I have always wondered if there was some kind of connection to the Ascendant Plane. The Astral Alignment and Shattered Realm dialogue this season have only further reinforced this feeling. On a related note, the War Dog wipe mechanic unleashing that howl of presumably psychic energy has confused me. Not to mention the absurdity of Ticcu's Divination arrows. So I would very much like more information on how the Psion abilities work.

In one of the potential lines at the end of Shattered Realm Crow asks someone to fact check his knowledge of the Ascendant Plane, Petra replies by saying that "it's the backstage of the universe, Crow. Sculpted by willpower and imagination." What is a psychic landscape if not one shaped by willpower and imagination? So I've been more seriously considering the possibility that they might be related somehow. Even if that realm might be a transient sandcastle amidst the sea of screams compared to the islands of Hive Throne Worlds. But that's just a working theory on my part.

Although our Guardians, Saint, and the Vanguard have massive motivation to save Osiris, Mara Sov & The Awoken are primarily motivated to break the Dreaming City curse. Helping Savathun get rid of her worm is just the through line. We help Sav in hopes of getting Osiris back. Mara helps Sav in order to break the curse, thus freeing her people & resources for the coming war with Xivu Arath & The Darkness. And both Mara & the Vanguard fully anticipate betrayal from Sav/are planning on killing her as soon as their agreement is fulfilled.

Honestly, just leaving her as is (assuming she's even bound and isn't just lying to us) sounds like the best move. If she's trapped, let her sit there and lock her away. Besides, that's probably a safer bet to ruin her plans. She expects us to not trust her, but still is trying to convince us that she's trustworthy so... Why not just give her the finger with a resounding "lol nope" and leave her to rot in ice? She needs us for her plans to work... The best move is just not to play her game.

@@PANCAKEMINEZZ It's not quite as simple as Trust Her vs Don't Trust Her. The bargain/arrangement is: Help her get rid of her worm and she'll free the Dreaming City & give us back Osiris. Sure, no matter how knowledgeable and valuable Osiris can be for future battles, he's just one man. So there's an argument for not risking collaboration just for him. But our hands are tied, to a degree, when it comes to the Dreaming City. Mara doesn't have the manpower to defend the city AND save her Tech Witches from Xivu's forces. That's why she needs us to do the Weyfinding. If we said no to Sav's bargain, Sav would just unleash her forces on The Awoken; wiping out one of our best allies under an assault from her & Xivu's forces, despite the fact they aren't allied. Sure, that basically guarantees Sav will die to either Xivu or her own worm, but now we lose a massive chunk of our overall power AND Xivu gets all of Mara's Tech Witches, since she has the power to Take. We'd just be trading one enemy for a super empowered other AND weaken our overall power. The best/safest bet is to go along with the bargain until we get enough Tech Witches to free the Dreaming City without Sav's assistance, while also keeping an eye out for her trickery. Yeah, it's dangerous. But it's the best choice. (The bit about using the witches without Sav's help comes straight from Mara's week 1 dialogue. She says that with enough witches she can break the curse without Sav, and potentially get Osiris back as well.)

Based on the lore "Call the Thrall", "Truth to Power React|Choose|Act" and excerpts from Maraseena, I think it is possible Savathun is/has co-oped the distributary for her throne world, which would explain how she managed to hide so well. Not a 'traditional' hive throne world. In call the thrall, she speaks about wanting to use a pocket dimension on the event horizon of a black hole - the distributary of the awoken was created on the even horizon of a black hole by Mara. Savathun says that she wants that space because time is faster inside then outside, which would speed up her tribute and increase her power faster - Mara confirms this is how it works in the Distributary. Medusa/AI/Quaria states in truth to power that: "If Savathûn plans to predicate her existence on the concealment of her secrets, as Oryx predicated his upon the sword logic, it would be logical for her to safeguard her deepest secrets and her throne world in a supermassive black hole computer. To defeat her would require a journey below the event horizon and the exposure of her most jealously guarded truths.” and "After observing Dûl Incaru [daughter of Savathun] during many loops, this simulation reveals her purpose in the Dreaming City. She seeks the key to the Distributary, the world the Dreaming City dreams of, where the Awoken were born and time passes at an accelerated rate. Once she conquers that world, she will use it as a base to gather thousands or millions of years of tribute in a very small span of our time. A being empowered by so much ontological authority would be capable of altering reality at a whim. You must prevent this. I will continue to loop the Dreaming City until you find a way to defeat her permanently".

I am both excited and apprehensive about the coming of witch queen. Mostly because while we will get to explore Savathun's throne world we will also likely be putting her in the dirt while we are there. And honestly she is such an interesting character I am loathed to think that her story will more then likely be ending with Witch Queen (Unless the events of Witch Queen are all just a convoluted part of her plan to make us stronger so we can take on the darkness more effectively and that she won't be outright killed by the end of the story of witch queen, and the Raid is all about taking on her sister). Pyramid ship theory: Savathun has lured the pyramid ship to her throne world in order to give us a space to dunk on her sister

I just can't help but think that somehow Savathun is going to basically become the traveler to the hive. That would be one of the most grand ways to prove and embody the idea that the light of the traveler is not some divine and good force, but simply a tool. I feel that she is going to Either usurp the traveler of it's light or even manage to manifest her own light powers and be on par with the traveler.I don't know what my queen has planned exactly. But I have waited a long time to meet her and if i were given the chance I would be following Savathun, not the traveler. Long live the Witch Queen.

The pyramid's presence is definitely intriguing. I can't help but think about a possible correlation of Savathun using the pyramid's and her attempts of capturing light (see Harbinger and Io strike, Savathun's Song, among other attempts).

Byf, it was interesting to hear you mention psions in the ascendant realm. Immediately my mind went back to our first raid upon the leviathan, and the shadow world we were sent to before damaging “Calus.” Psions were present there, and only psions. We know Calus stared into the void, and it stared back and was pleased. This sounds like communion with the deep - not so dissimilar to Oryx learning the sword logic and the ability to take. Could it be that Calus, now a paracausal being, created his own thrown world? Could it be we haven’t met the true Calus because that is where he resides while relying on his robot clones? Sorry for the long comment, I just can’t help but think this might be the case and we have already seen psions in the ascendant realm. Would love a response!

(All I really knew was that Witch Queen was following the contours of Taken King - Guardians infiltrate into a throne world and beat its resident Hive God at their own game) This cleared up a lot of the details of why/how that's possible.

So technically speaking we, the guardian, have a throne world, right? I mean didn't we become as as ascendant in order to kill Oryx permanently? Plus we know from the mindbender in Forsaken that pretty much anyone can make their own of as long as they can provide nesscary parameters to do so. So yeah, we got a big ass throne world yet to be explored.

@@GirthCheck guardians are not immortal, they get resurrected by their ghost. Once the ghost gets popped their guardian is very vulnerable and won't be coming back once killed.

I don't know the general consensus but personally I've come to believe that the pyramids and traveller are focuses for light and darkness but are not their source. It seems that Savathun like us wants to hear was both the light and dark and rose above them. So my theory is that now without her worm she has captured the pyramid to use it as a conduit for dark energies just as she is using her "hive ghosts" as conduits for the light.

I hope she has the light because shes actually good, hope the hive guardians are meant to be used to train us to get stronger to fight Xivu in the raid. The story campaign will be us fighting Savathun but after we beat her she tells us why everything happened the way it did. Hive allies and a hive queen on our side would be amazing.
