Destiny 2 Lore - This is why Xivu Arath is hunting Savathun!

I've said it before, I'm saying it again. The Darkness removed the planets that Savathun was most active in. Titan was where she experimented with Light and resurrection. Io was where she was rallying the Taken. Mars was where Nokris was discovered and home to a power mine of Hive rituals. Mercury is the only one with an unclear link; it could be related to Osiris or Quria, as she could use either to access the infinite forest's data. The Leviathan was home to the Crown of Sorrow, a weapon developed by Savathun. The Darkness had been cutting her off from her most valuable assets and we didn't even realize it.

I think ultimately the Witchqueen Expansion is going to exist to set the example that Light is not Good, Dark is not Evil, but both are neither. It could be that The Entity is simply one sentient aspect of the Darkness just as much as The Traveller is just one sentient aspect of the Light. Interesting, if you look to the beginning of Shadowkeep. The Scarlet Brood, merely a test. An incomplete "example" of Savathûn's necromancies. Fast forward to Arrivals, and she is communing with Nokris, whom when compared to Savathûn is a master in the necromantic arts. Within her court, I'm sure their skills have only gotten better, stronger. Now we have Witch Queen, which could well be a culmination out their knowledge and skills, with the Hive Guardians.

Savathûn is now an anti-villain, at first I thought “anti-hero” but the more I look into this the more I realize that she is out for survival and rather then help in the fight against the darkness, she would rather be the last one standing. Better yet she realizes that in order to metaphorically “win” it would be best to not chose any one side. Rather learn what you can from each and evolve however necessary in order to survive. Really interesting approach for a character we know almost nothing about.

Honestly, it is surprising Savathun is one of the few hive that sees the value in ghosts/guardians over the sword logic. The existence of guardians in itself kind of disproves the power of the sword logic. We just keep dying and coming back to life. I honestly don’t know if anyone’s mentioned this, but it’s a small detail I noticed, Osiris’ accent actually diminished when he was possessed by Savathûn. I don’t know if that’s just the direction his voice actor took or was directed to take, but notice how, before he was possessed, his accent is stronger. Then, afterwards, while being possessed, it sounds much more diluted. Cool little detail if it was deliberate.

Think back to the Books of Sorrow and who was it that pushed the sisters to visit the Worm Gods in the first place. Xivu Arath is the penultimate hive soldier and has been betrayed at the deepest level, by the one who started this journey. Not only is there the betrayal of peers, but of family. I would surmise that the darkness only had to barely nudge Xivu to hunt Savathun in earnest.

He most likely has a small throne world, which is different albeit it gives more or less the same result. Basically, his soul/true self is kept in the ascendant realm, so even if his physical form dies, his soul is still alive and he can just reenter the our realm. In a way, it's like he never died, he has proved his right to exist over others through sword logic and is reaping the benefits. Necromancy (in this context), from what I understand is more like bringing something else back to life. The hive see it as defying the natural order, Nokris was bringing back life that was already deemed weak and unfit to exist (aka killed), hence he is labeled a heretic.

My biggest concerns are these: what or who leads the black fleet, what is the traveler, why did they both want to commune with us, the Humans? I want to see Eris come back and do more, along with Drifter, to tell us more bc ik Eris has waaay more knowledge than she is giving. Mara is being touched on now so that okay. I was pretty much expecting this as soon as it was mentioned that Savathun wanted to be rid of her worm. In her case, I'd calll her side The Dark Light. One where she steals the light from those who used it for good, and uses it for her own ends. As for Xivu, I find she is more of a mindless follower to The Darkness, it's lead enforcer. I'd be lying if I wasn't looking forward to seeing if she becomes empowered by the remaining worm gods at the order of The Voice of The Darkness. I kind of hope we get to see Nokris again in a strike or something in Witch Queen...hell maybe even get him as a boss in the raid.

I like how the Vanguard and the Awoken Queen just assume Savathun is telling the truth, and that Xivu Arath is actually hunting her. We have no idea what is going on at all. All we are seeing are appearances.

Same here. I feel like savathun is working with xivu araith in all this. Making it feel like shes hunting her to exorcise her worm we get the chance to kill her, but xivu revives her through the light and that leads to witch queen. All the hive guardens when they were revived had bone structure added to them. And savathun has a ghost meaning she does get resurrected at some point

Not sure if it's an actual part of the lore, but I always pictured that the existence of The Darkness is directly tied to the existence of The Traveler and it's light. An inevitable required balance. The Traveler doesn't want to "defeat" The Darkness, and more looks for races and means to delay it while it spends millenia trying to find a way to exist outside this universe. In the end (for the endgame story at least) I think The Traveler will be the main baddy that all the races and powers will begin fighting to prevent its biggest plan from happening. A plan that will cause the current existence to collapse, wiping out all, to create a new "big bang" with IT as the controller of existence.
