When responding to the Venezuela! gotcha of the Randians use this factoid and the following phrasing: "2/3rds of the Venezuelan economy is private industry, 70% of Venezuelan GDP is from private industry and 80% of workforce is in the private sector. Notice I said "admittedly flawed attempt". What I'm highlighting is that Venezuela should NOT be considered a socialist country and its economy certainly isn't socialist. Just because Chavez appropriated one means of production doesn't make it a socialist country or economy. Holland would be a better example of socialism in action than Venezuela. The rest of what you're saying (your A and B points) is more to do with the effects of the machinations of those who opposed the attempt by Chavez to redistribute more wealth amongst his population than anything inherent in socialist economy theory or policy.

Suggestions: - Keep you tone and volume even. - When they do, comment on the fact that your opponent is trying to shout you silent. Every time they raise their voice, but never twice even if you think your comment wasn't heard. - Don't let the opponent interrupt your speech. Deliver your point to the end, even if the moderator has to intervene, and only afterwords comment on his volume. - Don't interrupt your opponent. If they Gish-gallop, pick the one point you can annihilate to the audience's satisfaction and do that. The rest of the gallop would be forgotten unless the opponent insists on it, so it would be best if you pick a point that triggers a cascading failure in his rant. - Don't worry about casually dismissing casually stated figures: Adopt a phrase to the effect of "I bet the actual data doesn't say that". Worst case scenario, you would be shown wrong, but even then you would've made the audience check their "champion", and in this day and age, someone can be corrected by the time for Q&A, and that would be priceless.

I honestly believe more Americans (especially white Americans/the majority) are turning to conservatism because they're tired of the neo-liberal establishment types like the Clinton's, Waren, Biden, Pelosi, Schumer, Watters & Feinstein. They've seen how the left blatantly panders to minorities and special interest groups and have also totally turned their backs on the working class. Add on their obsession with white supremacist, white privilege & their constant demonization of whites to make whites feel guilty for past sins that they have nothing in common with except skin color, it's a recipe for disaster. I never liked the Bush's and Trump destroyed Jeb in the debates, called George Bush a liar and said Saddam Hussein never had weapons of mass destruction. That was something I agreed on when I was a Democrat. I still don't agree with a lot of Trumps policies, but the left keeps screwing the pooch. They had a pretty good candidate like Bernie who had some popular opinions and a strong group of supporters. and the dnc robbed him of his chance to be president *again* Like I said, I don't agree with everything Trump says or does, but you have to be crazy to think Joe Biden is a good candidate or that he has any chance to win against Trump in November. The problem is that Hasan didn't want to have a screaming match with the guy, because it would devolve from there and be ineffective, Charlie wasn't interested in a debate, it was moving to talking point after talking point, and he was trying to rattle them off as fast as possible so the other side has no time to slowly mole over the point. Its, bring up irrelevant points and then when someone is picking at them, move to more points to stall for time, trapping the other side in a web of lies that they don't even know where to start picking it apart, so Hasan ends up just saying "yeah, that's dumb" because it is, and he doesn't have time to pick apart every lie in the heat of the moment. Bernie ends up the same way with the Right as well. But it's effective for the extemist right wingers, who only care about hollow "zingers" and not facts. They aren't looking up Charlie's points, they just think a guy talking fast owns the guy who slowly addresses points. A lot of times, it's about appearing confident that gets you the pass, look at Trump. The right strategy would be to cut them off at first blush and make your case, but then you aren't having a discussion, you are just lecturing, which negates the point of a discussion.
