The acrobatics done to strangely couple being a Democrat with being a leftist was strange. The Republicans and Democrats are jointly the capitalist party. Socialism isn't the government doing more things, it's an arrangement of labour relative to capital. Reading up on the countries that are often boogie manned by reactionaries like this (Cuba, USSR, dprk, Vietnam) can help against intellectually and historically dishonest arguments. Also, great point when you asked why deaths are only attributed to non capitalist ideologies and not (neo)liberal capitalism

Corruption is very prevalent in small groups because of social forces we are all prone to. It's necessary to have people whose role it is to be watchdogs, such as a free press, internal checks and audits, systems of approval for spending and appointing officials, and so on. Generally the more authoritarian a system and the more a leader cultivates personal power, the more rampant the corruption.

@lucianraphael9527
@lucianraphael9527 5 жыл бұрын
Ian G Destiny in that argument literally supported nation building and bombing runs over Mexico. He legitimately looked out of his depth Meanwhile the door to your house analogy wasn’t air tight, it was still valid. All nations should have adequate border security. Just because there are other ways around the system doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t attempt to improve the system. Ben shapiros debates are also open. Anyone who feels up to debate him, is free to debate. Yet he still debates retarded college kids most of the time. So no, the “open invite” argument isn’t particularly valid considering most of the people destiny brings on to debate are ill prepared or just downright retards. He even won 1v5 debates which shows exactly how stupid destinys opponents are. There was even another time where destiny had a debate with a guy on the Middle East and middle eastern politics and destiny ended up getting completely destroyed to the point where he had to resort to opinion based arguments with 0 information to back them up. Call me when destiny starts actually debating competent people, on the right AND left.

@@lucianraphael9527 Bombing runs over Mexican drug cartels. Dont just leave details out like that. It seems like semantics, but that is actually pretty important that we make the distinction. Destiny's proposition was extreme, but atleast he understands that a wall isnt going to resolve the issue. Legal immigration will still be an unreleastic option for people trying to immigrate to the country with the ridiculous wait times and present dangers in their country. Also, people from Mexico wouldnt be immigrating like they are if their country was stable. That's one of the reasons Destiny wanted to invest in Mexico in the first place. Not only would it massively reduce immigration but if Mexico is doing well, America will see the benefits as well. Personally, I would prefer a permanent fix, or an attempt at a permanent fix rather than trying to put a bandaid on an issue like this. Shapiro debates dumb college kids all the time because he frequently speaks on college campuses. I'm not sure what you want me to say here. Similar to how most of the people on the internet have poor arguments for their positions. Also, the open invite is completely valid UNLESS you are declining debates. If you can show me am instance where Destiny just declined a debate for some superficial reason, I'll shift my perspective on this issue. Yeah he was out of his pay grade when it came to Ryan Dawson. I'll give you that. But atleast he had the conversation. Also, what about his debates with Exskillsme, Irishladdie, Nick Fuentes, Lauren Southern (yeah I know, but she literally wrote a book on an issue that Desriny was debating her on, so it's not like she is your typical e-debater) James Allsup, Alternative Hypothesis? (They only talked for like 12 mins and this was in the middle of a doglile). Like hes debated competent people. I dont agree with their conclusions and they do have problems with their arguments, but they arent brain dead like NO BS and JonTron.

I really don't understand why I hear people laud formal debates. 90% of formal debates I listen to are A) the deluge of impossible-to-coherently-respond-to points like Destiny mentioned toward the beginning or B) arguing over the semantics and/or specifics of the motion to win. The only reason I go to listen to a formal debate is to hear a particular person to speak about a subject; the actual debating as like an exchange of ideas and arguments is consistently hollow.

@@misssydnerella I mean your right on everything...The about debating is just because someone isnt good at debating, doesnt mean their views are wrong. Like Hasan was right in what he was talking about and he did do a good job for the most part. But yea some of his issues were debate related and Destiny did a good job pointing them out because he has alot of experience with doing so. Thats why we were happy when Sam was doing a debate because weve seen he has no issues debating and he knows what the hell hes talking about.

Cuba 2016 Life Expectancy 79.74 Years United States 2016 Life expectancy 78.69 Years

It's so frustrating that liberals keep falling into this trap to defend the merits of socialism and not make the arguments for social welfare and how it relates to the economy. You can have a welfare capitalist state in which citizens are taken care of and markets can be competitive. We need a true socialist or communist to run in an election so people can finally see how idiotic it is to call something like healthcare paid for by taxation or environmental regulations "socialist" and "communist".

You can't say "that's corporatism not capitalism". Corporatism is capitalism, everything that kirk brought up until that point was corporatism, but he says its free market capitalism (which is something we don't, and never should have). Then when it comes to something that goes against his narrative he says "oh, but thats corporatism. I don't like that". Its such a weaselly thing to do. And then he goes on to gish gallop all the "socialist" states that the US has either sanctioned, embargoed, invaded, or funded revolutions in. Most of which were brutally genocidal movements that the republican lead US governments of the time helped cover up. "Where was the US interventions in Zimbabwe"? The US applied heavy sanctions, there were multiple assassination attempts against Robert Mugabe, and the US gave tacit consent for the UK to not only govern the apartheid state of Rhodesia, but the assassinations of ZANU and ZAL leaders. And that "florida became second in education" bullshit was slimy too. Florida was second in test score growth in 2018. They had the second highest increase in test score growth of 3.5% between 2017 and 2018. They're ranked at 21st in the country for overall education. And then his food stamps bullshit. Many of the people were dropped from SNAP because they no longer qualified. They didn't qualify because trump cut funding to the program. So just because they're no longer recieving SNAP doesn't mean they're making more money, and trump made changes so that it made it harder for new immigrants to get the benefits.

I think Hasan should have left the discussion the moment Kirk said the Nazis were socialists. At that point the debate is over. Overwhelming victory through brutal stupidity! If he doesn't even know what the Nazis were, he's lost all credibility as a political being. It's the one fact everybody knows about politics. If you get that wrong, you're out. It's over. You fucked up the first two minutes of the first lesson of Politics 101. You're not proficient to partake in debates. You demonstrated that you're utterly unqualified to even use words. Or sounds. It is questionable if you have the mental capability to breathe without outside help - and an obviously oxygen deprived brain hints at Kirk not having that capability. The level of record breaking idiocy will forever be pondered by future life forms and none will ever be able to explain this phenomenon of negative intelligence. Hasan should have just laughed for three minutes while unplugging the microphone and simply walked off the stage, hands up in the air in a victorious gesture.

As for cities, most cities are liberal, all of the larger cities in the country are mostly democratic. Chicago is a massive global economic power house. New York is the LARGEST in the world. You can't compare them with cities like Anaheim, Florida, which is a small city in a much larger, much more Liberal metropolitan area. The cities argument is moronic; New York is not a very dangerous city. Neither is LA, Seattle, Boston, Denver, Vegas, San Diego,etc. etc. They're all pretty good to in that respect.

TYT should never be sending people to debates because TYT is a left wing echo chamber and they don’t engage in these type of debates on their channel. All they do at TYT is talk about how everyone should be more progressive, without ever really laying out the case with push back. As someone on the center-left we’d be much better off with people like Destiny who are experienced at the tactics needed to debate the Right.

1:02:05 When libertarians say stuff like this, are they pretending to be stupid or are they really oblivious to the history of the gilded age and the fact that the alternative to public regulation is the accumulation of unchecked and undemocratic private power? It's so weird to call yourself "libertarian" and talk about freedom so much when you want society to be de facto run by unaccountable private companies. "Corpratism" would be a more accurate name but I guess that doesn't have as good of PR.
