Okay ya'll, listening to Destiny Bond and Perish Song like crazy lately, and I came up with a story! A young trainer. Their first pokemon was a Ghastly. The trainer and Ghastly were inseparable, going on all kinds of adventures and being there for eachother. Over time, the Ghastly evolved into Haunter, and then into Gengar with help from a close friend of the trainer. However.... As the trainer grew older and the battles became harder, they resorted to....underhanded methods of winning. The trainer forced their Gengar to learn 2 cursed moves: Destiny Bond and Perish Song. Gengar, ever loyal to its trainer, though hesitant, learned these moves. Anything to make their Trainer happy. Anything. They battled on, many times other Trainers would surrender the moment Gengar used it's cursed moves. No Trainer would ever wish to see their pokemon suffer in such a way. Until one day. The Trainer had grown much older. Angrier. More hellbent on victory over the wellbeing of their Pokemon. They called upon their Gengar, ever faithful to their Trainers call. Gengar used Destiny Bond. Neither Trainer flinched. Gengar used Perish Song. Again, neither Trainer flinched. Both pokemon became worried. Gengar used Curse. Gengar hesitated, and it's Trainer grew angry, demanding it's Pokemon use the move. Gengar had it's HP cut in half. The enemy Pokemon was close to fainting. Gengar was sure their Trainer would swap it out. It's Trainer wouldn't let it die....right? Gengar used Shadow Ball. Gengar looked back at it's Trainer, fear in its eyes. Again, it was ordered to use Shadow Ball. Ordered to end the enemy, and itself. It's super effective. This repeated for several months. Gengar, the once eager Pokemon, became a shell of it's former self. It's Trainer more sadistic, solely relying on Gengar and it's cursed moves. One night, as the Trainer was camping near an old, abandoned city, it called upon it's pokemon to eat. Gengar sat in the shadows. Tonight it would all end. Once the Trainer had fallen asleep, Gengar crept slowly towards them. It looked down upon the human that was once it's friend, their eyes glowing in the moonlight. Gengar used Destiny Bond. Their Trainer woke to a burning pain in their chest, cursing at it's Gengar. The Trainer reached for Gengar's pokeball, only to have it snatched away by one of their other Pokemon. Gengar loomed over their Trainer, anger and sadness burning in their eyes. Gengar used Perish Song. Thank you for taking the time to read through this story

You know, what's weird? That song reminds me of (how it feels like) going through depression or having a mental disorder. It's also bizarre and somber like this. Imagine your inner demon(s)...and all the lyrics are describing it so subtle and precise. It feels like, as if your demon(s) are/is singing and speaking right to you. And you're speaking to them as well. A dialogue between both sides. Being "the victim" ....finding help through it...Intense. Incarnate shape of it. It sends cold shivers up and down my spine. Goose bumps. Pictures drilling inside your soul. I like it though. Her voice is angelic...but in here she sounds like an fallen angel whispering to you, seducing you further into that kind of state. Becoming defenseless, desperately searching for cure, seeing your demon(s)/that angel as an savior....and by doing that and trusting "it"; losing control over it. Over you. Losing sight of yourself. Creepy stuff.

Meloedalu Same. I also think it's rather underrated in competitive battling. It has Prankster and has tons of moves to take advantage of it, such as Will-O-Wisp, Taunt, and Destiny Bond (funny how I mentioned Destiny Bond in this video's comment section, huh?). I do wish it was Ghost/Dark type so it would have a better defensive typing and get STAB from Knock Off and Sucker Punch, but it's still a great hidden competitive gem.

One of the most important moves you need for your gengar, aside from Hypnosis. I use moves like this for the Last Resort, when my Speedy Gengar has about 15 HP to knock that High HP Garchomp right before it knocks my Gengar out. So one day the Wild Pokemon attacked the Trainer's Pokemon and she was really shocked by what her friend did. Then her Trainer saw the wild Pokemon and wanted her to defeat it. But,she was at a type disadvantage,and soon the Wild Pokemon was winning the fight. Desperately,the Trainer told her to use Destiny Bond.* I don't know why I did the story in bold....:P

my head cannon is that this was a Pokemon that was abused by its trainer but it stayed by its owner's side out of a misguided trust, and during a battle that they couldn't win with a wild Pokemon the owner ordered it to use destiny bond, basically ordering it to kill itself for him, this being the final straw for the Pokemon it snapped, but in a taste of poetic irony instead of killing him it used destiny bond, not on the enemy Pokemon, but on its own trainer, dragging it along on a trip to hell along it as it dies to the Pokemon that its owner ordered it to sacrifice itself too

The remix is good and all, but can we talk about this? It feels like, instead of being furious like in the remix, you're calmly saying "You'll see why you'll regret this soon" and then turning your back to them and walking off without another word. Instead of lashing out, you give a vague warning and walk off. This feels like the theme song of the mysterious ally that, after every fight, approaches the villain and gives that vague warning before turning and walking off, with their cloak/coat flying in the wind, facing towards the rising/setting sun/moon as the best friend of the main character says "I wonder what's up with them" while the rest of the group nod in agreement and the main character stares off at where the mysterious ally made their exit, wondering if they recognized them.

It is! Especially with the little musical details that seperate this song from the other versions. The harps in the chorus rise in pitch, making whoever's singing (like Banette for example) sound like they're full of dark, cursed energy, and they're only getting stronger. And stronger. And stronger. And stronger. Until near the end where they finally unleash their full power by way of Destiny Bond. A fitting end, I should say, to a Pokemon who's been hurt time and time again by someone they once called a friend.

PikaMewTheGreat well, thats the combo of using perish song and a move that prevents switching. easiest with mega gengar since you have shadowtag ability to start with. but other pokemon can do it as well (like politoed with whirlpool and perish song)

I'd like to see an "Anti-Arceus" pokemon: basically a pokemon on the same scale as Arceus, lore-wise. Lore-Idea: *void* was an ancient being, the first created by Arceus, 2nd to the Creator. On *void*'s conquest he corrupted the entire race of Pokemon except for Arceus, the Creator himself, and Giratina.
