While I agree that Candace is insufferably preachy and patronising, I also think it's disingenious for Destiny to depict the Left's "sexual promiscuity lifestyle" and the Right's "traditional family lifestyle" as two sides of the same coin. There's an implication there, that the two are EQUALLY viable/beneficial for any one random person...which is objectively nonsense. And Destiny knows this: if he had a daughter, instead of a son, there is NO CHANCE he would be happy about her prostituting herself to 20 strangers per night (no matter how "safely" she practiced her prostitution, or how much money she made in the process). Destiny knows the literature. He knows that extreme levels of promiscuity are usually correlated to maladaptive behaviour and sociopathic traits. He knows about the extreme social stigma, health risks, physical dangers and personal regret that often stems from a career in sexual entertainment. He knows that the overwhelming majority of people, as they grow older, eventually gravitate (and yearn for) a committed long term relationship. He knows that, throughout the entirety of history, the family unit has been the fundamental cornerstone of human civilisation. It's fine to aknowledge that people are different, and that some individuals may be happier by having a more hedonistic lifestyle (like Destiny himself). But it's utterly dishonest to insinuate that Candace's message wouldn't be more beneficial for the statistical majority of people (and for society as a whole).
@ogolthorp6 ай бұрын
He literally said he thinks people being extremely promiscuous is probably unhealthy and should be talked about with a therapist. He just left open the possibility that maybe, for that particular person, it’s a lifestyle that makes them happy.

I'd accept the "'I'll pray for you' is NOT an insult" when the character of the preacher matches the claim. Candace too quickly makes strong assumptions about others and works double time to convince Destiny of the "goodness" of her use of prayer mid-conversation... this character is indicative of condescension. I'd believe a quiet apologetic to use "I'll pray for you" with goodness, the type that'd apologize for interpreted disrespect and revoke harsh judgements.

@@AspiringDevil They never really debated scientific facts. These were mostly religious, social, and philosophical issues, where answers are rarely absolute. If the answers were as concrete as a math problem, there would be nothing to debate (although I'm sure Destiny would try to anyway lol). That's not so say you can't use logical reasoning on these issues though. I'm not really a fan of Candace either, but I found her points to be much more logically-sound than Destiny's. However, I might've very well had the opposite opinion ten years ago. The truths behind these kinds of matters technically never change, but our takes on them will as we age. This is largely due to our brain development shaping our perspective on life. No specific years or magic numbers, just a gradual process.
@AspiringDevil6 ай бұрын
@@greenbar2888 yes but she argued that gradual process doesn't exist. That your brain stops developing at 25 & freaked out when Destiny said it keeps changing after that. I do otherwise agree but Candace isn't speaking in those terms but the language of hard facts. You can't make claims like she does with philosophy as your evidence. That said I do understand what you're saying but if that is her angle she is horrible at communicating it. She didn't say I think college isn't good for everyone. She said society needs to remove it, & 40% of people who graduate college can't read. Claiming American culture isn't American Culture & that they're is a satanic homosexual pedo cult ruling society aren't matters of philosophy or perspective. Among other claims. @xYiazmatx when you stop "demonizing" sex work as you put it, that eventually creates an environment where people slowly become more open and accepting of any form of sex work - and you end up right back in the place of unnecessary collective suffering that multiple other societies warned you about over the history of human civilization. Imagine learning about a painful lesson experienced and passed down from your grandparents or elders, such as not touching a hot stove - only to dismiss and reject it, and then at some point touch the hot stove yourself and experiencing the pain and suffering that comes with it, only to realize it could have easily been avoided if you just listened.
