Platforms are different than publishers. Platforms get special protections. It's not complicated. No one is arguing that the daily wire is not a publisher, so how does this issue have anything to do with the section 230 debate? No matter what your opinion on that is, no one is claiming publishers cannot choose what they publish and who their employees are. The argument is that if a platform starts overly curating their content then they should be considered a publisher. Where is the inconsistency? It all seems like very straight forward argument to me.

It isn't inconsistent. I think it's also reasonable to have different expectations for a global monopoly on a certain type of media. When the constitution was written the government was the only body with the power to censor people to the point of them being voiceless. There weren't giant international megacompanies that are larger than most governments collaborating to ban specific individuals. That isn't comparable to a small platform like the Daily Wire or CNN, I think it's probably reasonable for first amendment protections to be applied to Twitter/Google/Facebook. in a constitutional amendment for that reason. Those companies arguably have much more power to block ideas from spreading or selectively spread other ideas than the US government does. They also work directly with the US government to ban/censor particular ideas, so if they are going to act as an extension of the Federal Government then the same protections need to be applied to citizens from these companies as the Federal Government, otherwise its just a way for the government to circumvent the laws with soft censorship. That is the obvious direction things are going, the Tik Tok ban has a bunch of sneaky shit snuck into it that is obviously meant to give the government more power to target individuals through these platforms. They aren't sneaky, it is very obvious what the goal is here and how the government is finally trying to reign in the internet. I think we all know implicitly that if the government knew what the internet would grow to be, it would have been legislated into irrelevance much earlier.
